THE HELL WE WANT
Bellamy watched helplessly as Monroe lay there, choking on the air needed to breathe without avail. The older male had no idea what to do. What did she need? What could do he? There had to be something other than just staring at her. He didn't even know what wepaon they were dealing with here -- something similar to the acid fog no doubt. Monroe yelling out his name amidst the danger, only fueled Bellamy's desperation to save her. He couldn't fail her. He refused. He had sworn to protect her. She had always remained loyal and how could he betray that by just . . . letting her die. Her eyes closed and for a moment, Bellamy feared the worst. He could had sworn he felt his heart stop beating for a moment, as he leaned down to check her pulse. She was alive. Her pulse was weak, but . . . she was alive. Bellamy swiftly lifted her up into his arms to carry her to the rover. The mission needed to be aborted.
He had no idea where the hell his sister was, but she was clearly the one who warned the Grounders about this. If she returned to Arkadia . . . she would be deemed a traitor. But right now, he had to get Monroe back. The drive back was quick, as quick as Monty could go. Bellamy's gaze was on Monroe the entire time, constantly checking her pulse. She was growing weaker but Zoe had always been a fighter. "Don't quit on me now, Monroe," he urged her. "Do you hear me?" He couldn't lose her. "You're a damn warrior . . . so fight this." She had always been strong. He needed her to continue to remain so now. When they got to Arkadia, Bellamy picked her up again, hurrying through the gates and ignoring any questions from the guards. He didn't have time to brief them or the Chancellor. He took her straight to medical where Jackson rushed to his aid, as the former leader set down Monroe on one of the boards. He reluctantly took a few steps back, watching her as she was quickly getting looked after. Jackson said that she was out and that he should come back later.
But later was not going to be long at all. Bellamy quickly left to briefly speak to Pike about the other man they had lost. He didn't give him more detail than that, though he could see it in Pike's gaze. The Chancellor knew it was Octavia. Bellamy made the conversation short, as he then returned to medical, standing near where they were working on Zoe. Time meant nothing as it rolled on by. When they were finished, Jackson said that they hoped she would eventually wake up. Bellamy moved to where she was resting, pulling up a chair and sitting on the side of the bed. He was damn well going to sit her and wait for her to open her eyes. "You're not alone, Monroe," he said in a low voice, his eyes fixated on her. No. He couldn't lose her. He couldn't fail yet another delinquent. So he would sit here. Even if it took all damn night. Even if it took days. She would wake up. She just, had to.
