whatever THE HELL WE WANT Things were tense. The situation between Kane and Pike was getting more and more heated, to the point that Abruzzi, one of Pike's over zealous followers, was planning on sinking to a whole new level. A level that Bellamy could not get on. Threatening each other was bad enough, but threatening family? That was just a line that should never be crossed. It was what prompted Bellamy to seek out Marcus right now. To tell him of what was going on.
He didn't bring it to Pike because . . . well, even Bellamy feared what the Chancellor might do with this information. Kane had never given any indication that he had a child, so Bellamy could only assume that the man didn't know. Today, that was about to change. The younger male had to at least warn him, give him a heads up about this . . . not allow Abruzzi to use it as further ammo. Seeing Marcus in the hall, Bellamy stopped in front of him, cutting him off. "We need to talk," he told him. His voice was low, yet also serious to indicate the urgency of his neeed to speak to Kane.
The two of them had been at odds a little, and yet . . . their bond was not severed. Bellamy still cared about Kane a great deal, he still respected him despite the fact that they were on opposing sides. Right now, he needed Marcus to trust him with this. When someone passed by, Bellamy immediately stopped talking, slightly turning his head at the civilian, giving a short nod to them as they look at Bellamy and Kane. Bellamy then took a small step toward Marcus to meet his gaze again. "Now." Because this could not wait.

Marcus looked behind him causally before turning down another hall, and starting his casual walk toward where he would duck into a spare room and meet with the others. Thankfully his time in power, and the fact that he had been here longer the Pike, and the fact that he had been in power on the Ark---All lead to him knowing it better then Pike and his men could ever. He knew how to get out, and knew how to disappear. "We need to talk," Apparently not as well as he thought, as Bellamy found him and came to stand before him. "Now." Marcus could tell this was serious, so he nodded his head once.
He had to take Bellamy away from where Miller and Harper were meeting, so he turned to walk the other way. "There is an old office down here that we've been using to store medical supplies. I was just coming from meeting Abby there." He lied, and hated lieing to Bellamy but knew he had to do it. As he got tot he door he pushed it open, and then closed behind Bellamy. "Is this a official visit, or did you miss our old talks?" Marcus asked in a moment of rare sass. He missed how he and Bellamy used to be a team, and now how Pike had twisted things. Bellamy believed in Pike, and instead of honoring the trust, Pike used it to get Bellamy to help him do thing.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy didn't care where they were going on where Marcus was coming from. He just needed to speak to him privately, so he silently followed him to the room he led him to. Once inside, the door was closed behind them, granting them that necessary privacy however Bellamy knew he couldn't let it linger. He couldn't tip off the others that he knew . . . just as he couldn't let Pike find out about this either. He didn't know what the Chancellor would do with this information.
Besides, a part of Bellamy wanted Marcus to hear it from him rather than Pike's followers. Though technically, Bellamy supposed he was among that group. And yet, he still felt he had an unsevered bond with Kane. "Neither," he answered bluntly. It wasn't an official visit, nor did this have to do with Bellamy finally accepting Kane's views when it came to the Grounders. "Abruzzi did some digging around and plans to use something against you." He needed to cut to the chase. They couldn't afford to waste time.
Taking a deep breath, Bellamy looked at the older male. This wouldn't be an easy truth to reveal he would imagine. "You have a kid." It was both a question, and a statement. Did Kane know? Bellamy's gut said no, as did evidence based on their previous conversations. He had never made mention of it, and Abruzzi seemed to be really hush hush about this as well. Which was why Bellamy had come straight to Kane, and offered him the information promptly.

"Neither," Marcus could tell that Bellamy was in a serious mood, which was normal these days. His hands lifted to his hips as he took a stance that was natural for Marcus; legs slightly part and shoulders back. It born from years and years of being in charge, and expecting to be obeyed. It was one he didn't use too often, but clearly Bellamy was here unofficially, and for serious matters. If Bellamy was starting to trust him again, then he would make sure to do everything he could to help the man he saw as a son.
"Abruzzi did some digging around and plans to use something against you." Plans to use something against him? Marcus could tell Bellamy was bracing himself for what he was about to say, and Marcus mentally did the same from he didn't move. "You have a kid." That....was the last thing Marcus had ever expected a young man to tell him. He didn't move for a long silent moment, before his hand lifted to tug at his face once, and then move to gesture toward Bellamy as he spoke.
"As I have gotten old, I have often wished that I had children when I was younger, but I have none." He thought back to the women in his life--which wasn't many. Only two of which had ever had children after their time together. Callie and Aurora. Both had filed permits with other men's name on them, and it had been enough time after him that he had not questioned it. Especially Callie, who had been quite a bit of time after he and her had been together. "The closest I have would be considering you as close I would get." It was laying a good bit of him bare by admitting that to Bellamy, but he didn't care. Or couldn't think past the shock of his words to think about opening himself up like that. "I . . . " Did he have a child? "Wh-Who did they say it was?" He asked, his face loosing some of it's composure as he tried to think of who it could be. In truth, there was only one. Blake.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT So Kane didn't know about his kid. That had been Bellamy's assumption, but the older male's words just proved it. Bellamy clenched his jaw, fighting back the emotion at Marcus' words regarding how he percieved it. It was true, that Bellamy as well regarded him as a father figure despite their difference of opinions and policies lately. That didn't change the respect he had for the man. It just made him wish that their opposing views hadn't put them at odds. But that wasn't what this was about. Abruzzi was going after his son or daughter and that was what Bellamy wanted to prevent from happening.
He saw the emotion in Marcus, as there weren't many times that the man showed himself to be anything less than stoic and composed. It was why he could handle such pressure intensive situations. But right now, they were behind closed doors and there was no judgment from Bellamy's part. He could only imagine how shocking the news must be to hear. He just remained silent for a few moments, allowing him the chance to process the information.
"He didn't say who," Bellamy revealed. He took a small step toward Marcus, further away from the door. "I need to know whatever you can tell me," he went on. "I can protect your kid, but I have to find out who it is first." Whether it was a son or daughter. Presumably, he or she was here, otherwise Abruzzi would have no leverage against Kane. And well, Bellamy wasn't going to let an innocent person -- especially one of their own people -- get caught up in the political clash between Pike and Kane.

"He didn't say who," He didn't say, but Marcus' mind was already connecting dots and trying to reject what it was finding to be true. A simple test that Abby could run could confirm it. That was when he realized that Abby had said that Abruzzi had come in to run a test but had deleted the information before she could find out what it was. Marcus had assumed it was something to do with Pike's magic dirt he found. They had been testing to see if someone was his 'kid'. "I need to know whatever you can tell me," Bellamy kept going, but Marcus could only reach a slightly unsteady hand toward the wall and look down while his mind connected the dots.
"I can protect your kid, but I have to find out who it is first." Bellamy was the one who needed protection. Marcus was almost completely sure. "Abby said that Abruzzi had used the medical lab to run a test. He must have caught on to something and tried to prove it." Marcus explained sounding distant, low and distracted. Finally he forced his eyes up to Bellamy, and he looked at him. REALLY looked at him. His hair, and face, and Marcus saw him as he had never saw him before. Bellamy was his son! Bellamy! "I have a son." He said, emotion thickening his tone.
Marcus was standing up straight once again, but his eyes fell. "I think I have a son." He wanted it to be Bellamy so badly but if Abruzzi knew and was still willing to go after him then Marcus didn't want him to be his son. He rather he be safe. "I've not gotten close to many women, there was one in my youth. I was her training her officer and she was a cadet under me." He forced his eyes back to Bellamy, and they were almost pleading. "I broke it off with her because we were both career minded and that would have destroyed both our careers. She never told me I had a son." He wasn't on the council then. He had not had access tot he permits, and when he found out she was with another man and they were to have a child it had hurt but he had not questioned it! WHY had he not questioned it!

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy felt his heart ache seeing Marcus' reaction. The revelation that he had his son, so sure, so positive. Was this something that a father knew? Bellamy regarded Marcus as a father, so knew that whoever his son was . . . would be damn lucky to have him as an actual one. One of blood. Bellamy couldn't help but let out a small flicker of the emotion into his gaze upon Kane. It was practically impossible not to with the way he was standing, and his emotional response to this news which was entirely understandable.
Bellamy knew they weren't exactly on the best of terms, but that didn't stand in his way with wanting to offer Kane the same support that he had given him in these past few months. He took a few steps toward the older male, and put his hand on his shoulder . . . as Marcus had done countless times in the past. A gesture of support, comfort, sincerity. One mimicked in the way Bellamy enacted the same gesture now.
Marcus spoke of a woman from his past, seeming certain that this could be the only woman that birthed his child. He would know, and it was a damn good start. "I will protect him," Bellamy promised, a strong vow in his words. "I promise." And he was not one who would go back on his word. "Who's his mother? That can help us figure exactly who he is." Before Abruzzi had a chance to make a move on him. Bellamy kept his hand firmly on Marcus' shoulder, looking intently into his eyes, an expression softer than the stoic one he had approached him with.

Bellamy stpped forward and rested his hand on Marcus' shoulder and he did not miss that this was something he had sone to Bellamy time and time again to show his own support and approval of him. "I will protect him," He was priomising this, but Marcus knew that it was Bellamy who needed to be protected. Taking in a slow break, Marcus let it out while tilting his head back and squaring his shoulders. He needed to tell his son that he was his father but he was afriad. Of that rejection, and of how Bellamy would take the news. "I promise." Marcus only looked into his face, and tried to see how he had not see this before. "You will not be alone. I intend to make sure they never lay a hand on him."
He was so proud to call him his son. "Who's his mother? That can help us figure exactly who he is." Marcus was quite for a moment, planning his words with the up most care. "Bellamy, I want you know that I had I know I had a son, I would have given up everything to have known him." He still was planning too. "That I still am. They want me to back off, you tell them that I will back down. There is no need to hurt him." He would do it for his son. He would still work against Pike but he would do it much more quieter.
"She never told me, but I could not have made it easy for her. I left her to save our careers." He didn't want Bellamy blaming his mother for this--though Marcus felt anger in his heart that she had left this from him. "Her name was Aurora. Aurora Blake." He watched Bellamy's face. He wanted to touch him but didn't dare, for fear that Bellamy would pull away. "Bellamy, I am your father."

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy could have sworn something shifted in Marcus. Was it just the realization that he had a son? Probably. He could imagine it was a lot to take in for the man. Which was why he wanted to be here, to help him through it. To vow to protect him. To keep an eye on his son where Marcus may not be able to because of the enemy Abruzzi was making himself to him. Bellamy just gave a small nod when Marcus seemed to justify himself, to explain that he would have given up everything to know his son. He wasn't sure why he was telling him that.
He figured the situation must have been complicated, especially with that Marcus had previously just told him about his child's mother. So Bellamy was not judging. Of course he wasn't. How could he. This had to do with Kane and his past . . . not Bellamy. Did Marcus thing that Bellamy would lose respect for him due to this? Because that wasn't the case at all. He knew from personal experience how much of a damn good father Kane would be. It was evident just in the way that he spoke of backing off, should that be what they wanted . . . if only to protect his son.
Bellamy wanted to assure him that it wasn't necessary, but at the same time . . . it was what was safest. It was what was best. Bellamy feared Kane's safety amidst this whole thing, but that didn't mean that his son should pray the price. The younger male was going to assure of him all that, allowing him to finish speaking. But it was the revealed name that numbed all of Bellamy's thoughts. A single name that changed every single thing. As if there was any shred of doubt, Marcus finished with the confirmation.
"Bellamy, I am your father." The words pierced him like a sword to his heart. His . . . father. He was his father? No. That was impossible. And yet, entirely possible. How . . . no. This couldn't be right. His mother would not keep this from him. Marcus would not withhold the truth about Aurora for so long. They wouldn't. They . . . wouldn't. The imapct of the words caused Bellamy's hand to limply fall at his side, as he took a few steps back.
His eyes were wide, almost horrified at what Marcus had just revealed to him. Because he knew it was true. In the core of his heart, the pit of his stomach, he knew it was true. Marcus Kane. The father he never had . . . turned out to be the father he had. The father of heart, turned out to be his father of blood. It was just all so, surreal. And, yet his intiail reaction was hurt. Pain, in the withholding of this information that could have led them to the truth sooner.
He wasn't even sure how he managed to form words, but they came out. "She wouldn't keep this from me." He had to believe that she wouldn't. That his mother would have told him. He slightly shook his head, feeling his eyes well with tears. "How could you keep this from me?" Not the fact that he was his son because Bellamy genuinely believed that Marcus ddin't know. But . . . he hadn't mentioned anything about Aurora before.
The hurt of that alone was enough to make him react. "Why would you?" A somewhat rhetorical question, because Bellamy didn't know if there was anything Marcus would say that would make sense right now. The shock was too much. The realization hitting him, hard. He didn't stop moving until his back was against the door, as if that physical distance would ease the emotional one he needed. But it didn't. Not by a long shot. While trying to process all this, he also couldn't help but think . . . was he Octavia's father too?

"She wouldn't keep this from me." Marcus was askign himself that same question. How could she have done this too him? Had he done so much damn that she would rather do this alone rather then let him be a father? He tried to think back to the days in which he told her they couldn't get together, but he had thought she understood that he had done it for them both, and that it wasn't because of their personal feelings or actions. "How could you keep this from me?" Marcus felt his ace shift that question. He had not expected that Bellamy jump for joy, but he didn't expect the blame either. It hurt to know this would only make this harder between them.
Harder, but it almost meant that Marcus wasn't going to keep playing by the rules. If they were going to go after his son--he was going to make sure they couldn't touch him. "Why would you?" Taking a deep breath, Marcus stilled his stance and stood taller. He was sealing himself off from the weight and impact of this news. He could not afford to let anyone--even Bellamy--know how this had both devastated him, and gave him hope for the future. "I didn't know you were my son, and I wasn't going to bring up a twenty year old romance when it served no purpose." He told him, not about to speak ill of his dead mother. If Vera's lover came forward--Marcus would rather not know. "Bellamy, whatever Abruzzi is planning, they are planning it to be you." Had he thought of that? Because Marcus wasn't about to loses the son he always wanted, right as he finally got him.
