whatever THE HELL WE WANT The kid was awake. It was true that Bellamy had given Clarke a time limit and after that, they were going to kill Jasper. His pain was too agonizing to hear, and he was practically dead anyway. But, he had a change of heart. It was seeing the way Clarke killed Atom. Bellamy hadn't been able to bring himself to do it. That was his friend, a guy who was suffering. But Clarke had done it out of necessity, so that his suffering would come to an end. He had a new found respect for her . . . and knew that she would only kill when necessary. She believed that Jasper would survive, and Bellamy -- for the first time -- would have to really trust her judgment on that.
Which was why when they got back to camp, he told them to get her whatever she needed. He was awake when news spread that the 'dying kid was no longer dying'. It wasn't Bellamy's style to apologize but . . . at the same time, he knew he should say something. He had more of a reason to, knowing that he had saved Octavia's life. When Bellamy stepped into the drop ship, Jasper was still awake with Monty at his side. "Give us a sec," he told him. Monty looked hesitant . . . Bellamy supposed he couldn't blame the kid. "Look you can either leave yourself or I'll make you." Those were his options. "If I wanted to kill him, he'd be long dead by now." Brutal honesty, but it seemed to do the trick. Monty reluctantly left, at which point, Bellamy approached the recovering Jasper. "Feeling better?" He asked, his tone leveled, not sarcastic or uncaring.

i'm wide awake after the riot this demonstration of our anguish this empty laughter has no reason Ugh, he hurt. He hurt so much.
At least he was alive. At least he was alive was a good thing, right?
Jasper shifted, grinning stupidly at Monty who shook his head at his best friend. "You did this for a girl," his friend pointed out, and stiffly, Jasper gave a shrug of his shoulders. At least he was alive, he wanted to point out, but soon enough, there were footsteps coming into the room. Jasper couldn't exactly move too much, but he couldn't help but laugh a little as Bellamy Blake told Monty to leave. Jasper waved off his best friend with a stupid smile before shifting as much as he could, trying to sit up. He managed, thankfully, to tuck his elbows up underneath him and sit up a little, enough that the wound on his chest started to throb, but it was dulled; it wasn't too much.
"I'm alive. At least there's that," Jasper pointed out, his smile growing on his face, "and at least I was the heroic hero that saved the damsel in distress. But, no, I feel terrible. I got speared. What do you think, Bellamy?"
His demeanor shifted only for a second, although his face never changed. The eager, over-excited smile never dimmed from his features, and his eyes glanced from his friend to the door and back again, "But I know you didn't come here to kill me, and I doubt you came here to make sure I was feeling better. Although, I guess I have to thank you for not killing me because of my agony. And giving Clarke a chance... so... thanks." like a bottle of your favorite poison we are the last call and we're so pathetic

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy wasn't one to apologize. So he wasn't going to. What he could do was suggest in his own way that killing Jasper wasn't the right move. That it wasn't necessary. That they weren't liket he people in charge on the Ark, where they could kill people off so easily. Bellamy knew that, and yet . . . thigngs were different down here. He had told the others 'whatever the hell we want' but he wondered how long that could go on for. These were all things he couldn't reveal to others. He had to appear confidence and sure in his decisions. Strong, or he would be seen as weak and lose the people's support. "Didn't think you were going to be for much longer," he stated in response to Jasper pointing out that he was alive. He then spoke of saving the damsel in distress -- which just happened to be Octavia. Really, thanking him had been part of the reason he came in here.
Had he gone with the group that day, he sure as hell wouldn't have let Octavia do what she did. She was his sister, his responsibility yet knowing that the others played a part in protecting her . . . well, he couldn't be entirely dismissive of that. "Well at least you sound a hell of a lot better," he said, almost as a joke but it was entirely true. He was talking, conscious, and not crying out in pain which had disturbed everyone. "Actually, I did come in here to make sure you were feeling better," he stated. There was no point hiding that truth. "You were in really bad shape. And I guess its good to see you pulled through." His voice was stoic, leveled, but he meant his words. "You're tougher than you look," he added on as a bit of a tease. Though again, Bellamy's first impression of Jasper wasn't that he was a rough, tough type of guy. He proved otherwise though, showing to have quite a bit of strength to fight through what he did.

i'm wide awake after the riot this demonstration of our anguish this empty laughter has no reason Jasper huffed at Bellamy, and if he was feeling entirely like himself, he'd punch the older male in the arm, in playfulness, of course. But while he was feeling a little better, the strength he had was basically being sucked up to keep himself from falling backwards onto the table. And he was tired of just laying there, like a dead animal. He wanted to do more than that. He wanted to get up and walk around, but hell -- he was already so tired just from sitting up that it'd be a while, he knew, until he was walking and talking like he normally was. The thought of running just made Jasper feel so absolutely tired that he couldn't help but shake his head.
As Bellamy spoke, though, Jasper couldn't help the shit-eating-grin that crossed his face. He knew exactly what he sounded like, and if the remaining kids didn't like it, how did they think he felt screaming it? His voice practically went raw with the yelling of pain. But he took all of what the older male had as a compliment -- he looked like a weakling, and he sure acted like it more than enough times, but he had a lot more than that up his sleeves. At least he was needed -- even if it was more or less a morale need.
"I'll take that as a compliment," he pointed out, forcing a smile upon his face. Despite everything that was going on in his head, he didn't need to show it outwardly. At least... not yet. He was safe in here, by himself, and with Monty. Well, usually with Monty. He shifted as much as he could, despite the wince that crossed over his face, "I'm glad you think I'm a lot tougher than I am. You guys need me. You might say you don't but besides Monty, who's more of a gadget geek, you need me to help. If I wasn't here, you all would kill yourselves eating berries you don't know are poisonous or not." And, despite his teasing voice, at one hand, it was quite honestly true. like a bottle of your favorite poison we are the last call and we're so pathetic

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy listened to Jasper speak of how they needed him. That wasn't why Bellamy had agreed not to kill him. It wasn't why when he returned to camp, he told them to give Clarke everything she needed to help him. It was about not murdering people. Bellamy already had Jaha's blood on his hands, and he didn't need to add anyone else to it. Atom's death, showed him that. He hadn't been able to kill him, but Clarke had. Because she knew he was suffering.
She knew for certain he wouldn't make it. And quite frankly -- as much as he and Clarke butted heads -- she had the most medical knowledge out of all of them. He couldn't so easily dismiss that. "Pull your head out of your ass, Jasper," he told him bluntly, sarcastically. After all, Bellamy wasn't known for his overly kind words.
"I didn't not kill you cause I needed you. I didn't kill you cause you weren't gonna die." That was all there was to it. "Besides, from what I hear, you helped save Octavia's life." There was a reason his sister was so fond of this guy, and he was well aware that she would never forgive him for killing someone like that. He had heard what happened at the river; he'd already been reluctant to let her go with them, and that was why.
He knew she wouldn't try to pull something like that if Bellamy was standing right there. "That counts for something." Because he didn't know what he would do without Octavia. He was here for her, more than anything or anyone else. And he'd rather die than see any harm come to her. So the fact that she was so upset by her friend being injured . . . well, made Bellamy less keen on killing the guy. Especially seeing how she reacted to Atom. Besides, Bellamy now knew that saying he was going to kill someone and actually doing it were two very different things.
