i'm wide awake after the riot this demonstration of our anguish this empty laughter has no reason So this was earth? It was... weird. It felt strange to breathe the clean air rather than the filtered air on the ark. It felt weird to be able to walk along plants, and feel the ground morph underfoot. Jasper loved it. He knew all about the plants, and he quietly wished he had his books with him, though; at least then he'd be able to compare the shoddy drawings to what was growing around the campsite. He knew it was really a long shot, but he quietly put together an idea to write everything down, when the camp wasn't so hectic. There seemed to be too much fighting, and he didn't bother getting into it. Plus, after that spear? Well... going outside the walls was a little more hesitant than what he was used to.
Traveling around the campsite, though, he felt like he was hollow, not quite sure what to do. But wow, were there a lot of attractive people around. One of them, of course, was Clarke, who he couldn't help but make a wise crack to the other day. Okay, so it was more of a flirt than anything, so sue him. He couldn't help it!
He grinned as he slid up to her, his hands lazily resting on his hips, "Well, if it isn't Clarke. Has anyone ever told you that you're the prettiest flower on the Earth's surface? Probably not, considering we just got here!" he grinned, his eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief, a hint of playfulness that very few saw after the incident. At least he was alive.
And that's all he could thank the heavens for. He was still breathing in this fresh, clean, crisp air. And flirting with Clarke. Obviously. like a bottle of your favorite poison we are the last call and we're so pathetic

The books and stories never spoke about a lot of things they found on earth. The plants had evolved, she knew that much and it was no surprise to her. Evolution had probably led to a few different species of animals as well, evolution and mutation, but what was the most interesting thing that never was mentioned in her mind was: Nobody spoke about the taste of the air. The arks air was filtered, stale even. Just a mix of gas to sustain people. But down here? The air had a taste. You could smell the plants, the earth, the rain, which was the only taste ever mentioned in a book. She was still astonished by the fact that some idiots were actually scared of rain immediately, instead of wondering, enjoying the natural drizzle of life. Moments like those let her forget the dangers earth held. Her imagination could have never conjured up the beauty of it and certainly not the horrors.
The blonde almost jumped when someone spoke to her all of a sudden, having lost herself in the sensation and wonder for a moment. Did something like that actually work on the Ark? Then again how would she know? She grew up on Alpha station, she was undoubtedly as privileged as they had said. Her life had been laid out from the beginning. “A flower?” Weird comparison to her, an old one actually. “Sadly, unlike flowers I can’t live on water, air and sunshine. Did that actually work on the Ark?”

i'm wide awake after the riot this demonstration of our anguish this empty laughter has no reason He gave a cheeky grin, one that brightened his face, despite the dirtiness that covered it. Man, what he would do for a shower. He shifted idly on his feet before giving a chuckle, shrugging his shoulders in an almost exaggerated way, "Whether or not it worked on the ark doesn't matter. And I wasn't comparing you to an actual flower -- I was just trying to point out that you're as pretty as one. Just take the compliment, Clarke."
He gave a shit-eating grin before he swayed lazily on his feet, from heel to toe, from toe to heel. He hummed under his breath before he grinned again, once again, his attempts to flirt with Clarke on the forerunner of his mind, "But I mean it. You really are pretty. Not like a flower -- I mean, those are pretty but they're also fragile and dainty and that's not what I'm trying to say. I'm just -- is my flirting even working?"
He sighed. If Monty was here, there would be tons of laughing. And then, after the laughing, there would be the "you failed" look and the smirk of amusement. Jasper shuffled on his heels and gave a huff of annoyance at his thoughts. He turned his eyes to the sky for a long moment before manning up and turning his attention back to Clarke. like a bottle of your favorite poison we are the last call and we're so pathetic

'Just take the compliment.' Interesting choice of wording. Who did he think she was? One of those young impressionable girls? Or well a princess from Alpha Station? Vain and only caring about her looks? She’s never been that, not once in her life. Clarke had always preferred practicality over looks, had always regretted when some of the other girls were just about dresses and boys. For her things had been a bit different. She didn’t need to dress up to impress a boy, her upbringing had taken care of that for her.
“With how many girls have you flirted before?” It would probably work with a lot of girls on the Alpha station. If there was someone else, she might be swooning over being compared with a flower. “It doesn’t really matter what you look like down here, does it? Thank you, though.” After all, this impressionable princess had just been told to accept the compliment he had given her. Maybe that was all she would remain to most people for a while, despite showing her usefulness over and over again, despite showing she was more than just a princess. “People don’t flirt with me. And maybe you shouldn’t suggest I’m a vain little Alpha princess.”

i'm wide awake after the riot this demonstration of our anguish this empty laughter has no reason Jasper gave a rather agitated huff as Clarke didn't seem to take his flirting lightly. He swayed idly on his feet as he watched her, his eyes never straying below her mouth (he wasn't that type of guy; he didn't find physical beauty as beautiful as emotional and mental beauty, but the body was the body), and he gave a bright grin. "Why would I think that? I don't think you're vain. I think you're pretty -- and not just because of your looks. That's the last thing I judge with people," he added, sounding rather perverted. By accident. Because it was Jasper, and sometimes his filter didn't necessarily work the way he wanted it to.
Jasper glanced around before giving a shrug of his shoulders, almost in a dismissive manner, "Well, I flirted with you. That doesn't make me vain, does it? Also, I flirt with you not just because of the looks. You got spunk. You've got a head on your shoulders -- I can't help it that I like girls who can stand up for what they believe in," Jasper gave a cocky ass grin as he swayed this way and that still, unable to sit still for the life of him.
"And to answer your question, I only flirt with girls I find interesting. So not that many," he was lying, but it was so off put that it was really hard to notice. He essentially flirted with anyone who walked, although there were some he just avoided completely. Like that one girl on the Ark who had the personality of a stale loaf of bread. Monty liked to point out she had "the hots" for Jasper, but Jasper was two-hundred percent uninterested. like a bottle of your favorite poison we are the last call and we're so pathetic

Okay, that was kind of cute, if it was true. For once someone complimented her having knowledge. That was incredibly rare on Alpha Station. Between the teenagers of this privileged class, Clarke had always stuck to Wells for a good reason. He and his father valued her learning and knowing stuff. Other girls only cared about what they would wear next or which boy to seduce next. The boys were equally vain. Clarke had heard way too many stories of dumb Alpha Station kids being, well dumb. Some actually managed to get themselves floated for sheer stupidity. Granted it had a different name, but in the end it came down to not focusing in school and all that.
“Thank you. With where I grew up, how could I not?” She didn’t have to fight for every ration point, but hell, she had a hard time standing up to her parents and Jaha. Some of the highest ranking politicians on the Ark always had an eye on her after all. “It doesn’t make you vain. I’m only used…. To vain people, I guess. You were on Agro Station before, right?” Those weren’t vain at all in general, as far as she knew. They, like some other underprivileged stations didn’t have the luxury for it. “Your supply to flirt with is limited these days, I see.” But probably broader than in confinement.

i'm wide awake after the riot this demonstration of our anguish this empty laughter has no reason Jasper didn't quite know how to answer her question, and figured it was a rhetorical one. He gave a shrug of his shoulders as the bright smile crossed his face -- and as he smiled, he moved to pull his goggles from resting on his forehead to resting around his neck. Sometimes, Jasper couldn't help but constantly fiddle with the goggles, readjusting them, cleaning them and making them sparkle. He honestly just had that habit, and it was consuming. At least it wasn't a destructive habit.
"Yep. Argo Station, or better known as the Farm. At least, in my circle of people. You know, where all the food was grown. Always needed to get the hands dirty and stuff. Monty's from there, too -- it's why he's my best friend," Jasper grinned brightly, nodding as his words seemed to be the truth. He swayed still as he hands idly went into his pockets, pondering his words before he finally spoke, "But to reply, I don't think being vain has anything to do with personality. I mean, I can be considered vain when it comes to my goggles and how I look certain days, but that doesn't mean I'm always vain, you know?" he added, grinning brightly. Sometimes, Jasper spoke the gospel. Other days, he didn't know what the fuck he was saying.
At the final statement from Clarke, about how his flirting was in limited supply, he couldn't help but laugh. His laugh was deep and from the diaphragm rather than high and throaty, but it didn't have a meanness feel to it, either, "Yeah. Because I could flirt with the wall and the guards on the rare occasion in lockup," he pointed out, "This is ten times better than up there. Loved the Ark, but this? At least there's humans to interact with." And he was serious. Being in a cell without Monty for that long was maddening. At least they were here, surviving, together. like a bottle of your favorite poison we are the last call and we're so pathetic

“Yes, well, good thing you didn’t try isolation then.” Clarke had been completely cut off from any human contact for the duration of her confinement after all. She had no chance of going out to even see guards, she wasn’t even allowed visitors unlike others. Her knowledge was just too dangerous to risk anyone hearing about it. Down here it didn’t matter if she told anyone or not. In the end, though it gave her the right sense of urgency with what was going on. The Ark needed to know earth was relatively habitable after all.
“There were humans on the Ark, too. Shouldn’t have gotten yourself locked up then. What were you in for? Drug abuse? Pissing off a guard? Pissing on the plants?” Down here it didn’t matter to most and Clarke knew most the tragic backstories, while not everyone knew hers, she was just sometimes tired of being looked down on. The worst of it all was Octavia: She had been locked up for existing, that was it all. She spent over a year locked up with some sorry excuses for criminals and actual criminals, but she still kept her wits by herself and her morality. It was impressive.
“Listen, Jasper. I’m not interested in flirting with you. I have other things to do, things that actually might help the camp.”

i'm wide awake after the riot this demonstration of our anguish this empty laughter has no reason Jasper couldn’t help but shrug his shoulders, a wide smile crossing his face. It was true that he wasn’t able to have much freedom, but at least he didn’t have the worst of it. There was always that. Positivity on his end was a great aspect, despite the growing sensation of dying out in this world, where finding food was sometimes harder than sleep. “Well, as much as isolation sounds like it could be just a blast, I’m glad I didn’t decide to try it out. Not my style, y’know?” he beamed. There was an undertone of teasing in his voice, and he swayed back and forth on his feet again, before moving to shove his hands in his pockets.
“I guess that’s one of the mysterious sides of me,” he pointed out in response to Clarke’s question of what he did to get locked up. It wasn’t very exciting just… obviously illegal. And plus, he didn’t really care to talk about it, “Yeah, but on the Ark there were all these rules and if you talked to someone wrong you’d get the guard coming to you and it was just a bunch of hassle. The real only day you got to dance and flirt freely was Unity Day,” he chuckled low in his throat, a smile crossing over his soft features. Jasper was definitely someone who liked to talk and flirt and be silly.
“Well, let me help. I’m good at helping,” Jasper grinned, “no promises that I won’t flirt while I’m helping, but at least I promise I’ll try to cut down,” he pointed out, the grin never leaving his face. At least he was offering, unlike a good majority of the rest of the 100, who just idly went about doing idle things, still rather shocked that they were actually on the ground. like a bottle of your favorite poison we are the last call and we're so pathetic

“For you maybe. Unity day for me was the least free day.” Thanks to being the daughter of a council member and best friend of the son of the chancellor. Clarke looked around, almost expecting Wells to hover close by, before being reminded that this was not what she should be looking for anymore. But what did it matter? Clarke knew not to go into details. It would only give them more grounds to annoy her on and she had better things to do with her time than to listen to little kids attempts to bring her down. She was aware of her own capabilities and wanted to use them as well as she could. What would have happened to the 100 had Clarke not been in confinement as well? They’d have no doctor and as good as Monty was with plants and herbs, he didn’t seem to know about human anatomy.
“If you intend to flirt while helping, go somewhere else, please. There are plenty of girls who are probably into flirting so go to them.” She didn’t want it. It wasn’t like it was getting him anywhere with her either. She was into a different type of men or women, one that was more aware of what others needed and less concerned about his own fun. His flirting would just distract her. Distraction at tasks like hers was a bad idea. “If you want to help me, then you will have to concentrate. Do you think you can do that?” Right now she couldn’t see it. He was hyper, like the rest of them. She understood, but she wanted to be sure they could survive here. And she wanted to be sure she could monitor them until the 21st day. Somehow they would have to send the Ark the message should things change in terms of radiation.
