There was a light. After walking around aimlessly for hours, Mel finally saw a light on the horizon. Maybe it was another station? Maybe she finally found some of her people? Mel still didn’t know how she survived the crash of factory station, but somehow she did. Somehow she managed to come out of it alive. But nobody else had. She had checked, at least those bodies that seemed like they could be still living. None of them were. Everybody she encountered was lifeless and without a pulse. But she knew some others might have gotten more lucky than she was. Maybe someone was still alive. Maybe someone was out there, just where the light was.
Mel couldn’t see who or what was moving there. Maybe it was a fire. Maybe there was artificial light, like Arkers would have, like the delinquents would have. Maybe she could finally rest. Her arm hurt. Surprisingly she had only sustained damage in her arm when factory crashed. It still hurt a lot, but it was better than dying. Part of her still thought she might. She heard it was dangerous down here. So much could still happen, even though she wished only for rest. Rest seemed to be far away for them now, if there still was a them. So many people were dead already. There was movement ahead. Finally a sign of life. “Hello?” Mel called out. “Please. I need help.” Maybe it was stupid, but what other choice did she have?

Seren sat in front of the fire, the familiar crackling sound brought comfort to the girl. She was wide awake and wasn't exactly sure what she was doing away from the village in the middle of the night huddled around a fire when she could be in her tent, listening to the sounds of the village slowly dying as everyone retired to their beds.
She held her sword in hand as she stared at the silver blade, always alert, ever vigilant. She could not afford to lower her guard, not now... Not after everything that had happened. The sky people had destroyed three hundred of their warriors in a ring of fire, never before had Seren seen such a thing and she hoped she never had to witness it, she had not been with the unit that had marched on the camp, but she was aware of the damage that had been done. Families had been torn apart, familiar faces that she would never see again... Some of those people had been her friends, people she'd grown up with.
It seemed like ever since they invaded their lands, falling from the sky, all they had brought with them was war and death... The two came hand in hand with each other and she doubted that the sky people knew the meaning of the word peace. Now even more of them had come to the ground, bringing even more guns with them, even more of their warriors. The Commander had put a bounty on the sky people now. They had committed acts of war against the coalition and the people, especially those in the Woods Clan, the Clan that Seren belonged to, they had been on the receiving end of most of the sky peoples attacks, because that was where the first group had landed, in Trikru territory.
Suddenly Seren heard something, it sounded as if something... Or someone was coming towards her, probably attracted by her fire. Letting out a frustrated snarl she leapt to her feet, retreating back into the shadows, making sure to leave the fire as it was. It would be pointless to try to fight an enemy in the dark when most of the creatures that roamed the earth could see in the dark far better than she could. Waiting in the shadows she could hear now that it was a human approaching, she could tell by how clumsily it placed it's feet, the amount of noise it made as it made its way through the undergrowth.
The finally her suspicions were confirmed as she heard a very human voice call out to her, at first she did not realise what she was hearing. But then it dawned on her, this was not a member of her clan, part of her knew that this should have been obvious, the people in her clan... In all of the clans had been taught to walk soundlessly through the forest, across all terrains, but the thing that made it obvious that this was a stranger was the fact that she spoke in English. Of course the warriors across all twelve clans were taught how to speak the language, but this person spoke English without hesitation as if it were their first language, anybody that was part of the coalition would automatically speak in Trigedasleng as it was their first language that they were used to, taught to speak since they were babies. This was a sky person and Seren honestly didn't know what to do in her current situation. Instinct told her to take the intruder to the commander or otherwise cut her down before she could pose a threat to her people.
She waited in silence as the seconds ticked by, until the form of a girl appeared, she looked lost... Beaten and bruised. She didn't look like she was with anyone and Seren could not understand why she would be alone. Stepping out of the shadows as she deemed that this girl was not a threat to her, she was too weak to fight a trained warrior such as herself and Seren guessed that even the most ill trained child could over power the girl in her current state. "What brings you hear Sky person?" she questioned her, the slightest hint of curiousity present in her voice "your kind are not welcome here... I am confused as to why you are still alive when every instinct in my body commands that I kill you to avenge the warriors that we lost thanks to your people" her face displayed no emotions, maybe that was because she was unsure about what she should be feeling. Anger, confusion, grief, amusement... All were valid at the current time.

Sky person? What did that mean? Why did they call her that? Mel was just a worker on the Ark. She was not privy to the information of the council. She knew, from faint whispers, that a few kids were down on the Ground to check if it was habitable before the Ark was sent down when everything fell apart. But other than that she had no idea what awaited her on the Ground. She didn’t even know that people lived here. This was the first time she saw someone alive down here and the person greeted her with what seemed like hostility. Mel instinctively held up her hand, palm facing away from her to show she meant no harm. If that would work.
“Sky person? My kind?” She was honestly confused. She wanted to express it, but at the same time she felt it might be safer to retreat. Only how? She was so damn tired. She just wanted to rest and feel safe for half a moment. And that exhaustion took a toll on her. She felt her eyes sting with tears she held back. “Please, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m alone. The others I’ve been with died when the Ark crashed to the ground. I’m all alone. I don’t know anything about warriors or… my people.” Or even how they called them this. She was alone. And she was probably meant to keep on walking, if this person would let her get out of her. The threat sounded serious. “I haven’t harmed anyone or seen anyone. I’ve no idea what you’re talking about.”

Seren momentarily froze as she studied the sky person, she appeared to have no knowledge of any events that had taken place since her people came to the ground, but that didn't mean that the warrior trusted her. She could be lying, feigning weakness in an attempt to overpower her once she decided to lower her guard. She would not be fooled by this child "yes, your kind! The people who fell from the sky, the ones that burnt an entire village to the ground within twelve days of their arrival" she spat, her grip tightening on the hilt of her sword, it was an intimidating weapon, one that was used to kill, not to injure.
As the Sky person held up a hand as if this was a peaceful gesture, it did nothing to calm the warriors nerves however as she took a step towards the girl. "Maybe I should take you to my leader, have her decide what is to be done with you" she muttered, as if thinking about the options that she had "or maybe I should kill you now... That's not really an option, your suffering would be far to brief to please me..." she took a hand and grabbed the girls face by the chin, examining the injuries she had sustained with a smirk. Believe it or not, she was one of the good ones... She didn't believe in killing unnecessarily, however the sky people had wronged her clan and they had to pay for the lives that they had taken.
