whatever THE HELL WE WANT Hunting, scouting, mapping . . . all these things had become progressively easier and safer. The first was due to their attained technology. The cars that him and Octavia had found in the garage and been salvaged and put to good use. It cut their travel time significantly -- with the exception of the heavily wooded areas. Which was exactly where Bellamy was trudging through now. The safety had to do with the ceasefire that was put forth. The Grounders were no longer attacking them, and thus, they had no need to defend themselves.
This truly felt like an era of peace. At least physically. Emotionally, everyone was still recovering and attempting to heal from Mount Weather. For Bellamy, it was due to the company he kept . . . the relationships he formed that offered him emphatic support. It was always nights that were the worst; the reminder of the 600 plus people he had killed. The blood that he bathed in. Being left alone with his thoughts, with the images that haunted him, either kept him up or forced dark nightmares into his mind.
But alas, nothing could be done to stop it. He just hurled himself into what he could do for his people . . . for Arkadia as they now called themselves. Right now, that entailed patrolling. Looking through the area to spot any good food sources, or anything at all that could benefit them. They were building a sustainable lifestyle, not having the opportunity to do so. The land had much to offer, a great deal that they could plant. Bellamy was currently on his own, for this was supposed to be a routine and short venture outside the city walls.
But just as easily as he had set out, was as quickly as the clouds began to darken the wind picked up. Bellamy looked up, inwardly cursing. There was a storm coming. Damn it! The rain was already starting to pour down, the wind getting heavier. It felt like those hurricanes that he had read about in the books on the Ark. The wind seemed powerful enough to even knock a few trees down. It was then that Bellamy knew there was no way in hell he was going to make it back to camp.
The branches were already falling, nearly landing on him, and the danger of being out in this wooded area with this kind of weather was immense. Fortunately, there was a small cave not far and Bellamy fought through the raging wind toward it. His hand created a small shield over his eyes, as he noticed a figure in the distance. She was still a bit far away from the cave . . . and Bellamy immediately recognized her as a grounder.
He took a deep breath, weighing his options here. He would have to risk it . . . because if the storm let out and he found her body out here . . . well, it was not one more body he could afford on his conscience. Besides, he was armed with his gun. "Hei! Odon hir!" Hey! Over here! he called to her. He was not fluent in the language but he was learning, and he figured that could provide some assurance to the stranger. Additionally, he took a few steps toward her so that she could see him, and see that there was a shelter near them.

A lithe figure sprinted through the dense forest that belonged to the Trigeda, the territory was familiar to this girl, she'd spent her childhood scaling the trees, she knew the area like the back of her hand. This grounder was dressed mostly in leather and her face was smeared with the black face paint that symbolised that she was part of the Trigeda. The reason that this warrior was running now was because of the weather, she could taste it in the air, smell it in the breeze that blew through the trees. A storm was coming and Seren knew from experience that it was not pleasant to get stuck away from the village during a storm, especially in one as big as she felt this one would be. More experienced warriors than her had been lost in storms such as this one and she did not want to meet a similar fate. Since the cease fire had been put in place the people of her clan had felt like they could move freely for the first time since the sky people had come to their land without the risk of being shot at. However there were other dangers that Seren had to worry about, that was why she now ran with her sword strapped to her back and a knife in her belt. When they had marched upon Mt Weather, Seren had been more than eager to see everybody inside that mountain burn. The mountain had been a shadow hanging over the coalition for too long, far too long. They'd taken too many of their warriors, they'd taken Sae.... The rain was now coming down in torrents and forks of lightening lit up the sky, Seren's face paint ran down her face as the rain drenched her to the skin. If she had known that the weather was going to take such a drastic change then she would've never ventured out of the village, she would've stayed in her tent and continued to help Gastor perfect his hold on his spear... That still needed a bit of work. Already she could see the trees bowing, a branch hit the ground just to her left, urging her to put on another burst of speed. Suddenly she skidded to a halt as she heard a voice calling out, to her? It was distant, almost lost in the wind but it was definitely there, calling in trigedasleng, instantly understanding her native language instantly Seren looked around, bringing a hand to her face she wiped the water from her face and it came away black. Cussing silently as she realised that she smeared the black ink. Spotting the individual through the downpour, it was immediately apparent that it was a sky person, not somebody of her clan or a neighbouring clan, Seren was unsure if this was a good thing or a bad thing. However, they were calling to her, maybe to offer her help as it was clear that she would never make it back to her village before the storm reached its peak. Letting out a frustrated growl, the girl changed direction, sprinting straight for the man as he took a couple of steps in her direction, risking a quick glance upwards she let out a nervous grunt, it wasn't safe to be out in these conditions, she knew that her brothers would be with her father wondering if she was safe, wondering if she had found shelter. Just as she reached the man she looked him straight in the eyes, unsure what to say to him, she thought maybe she owed the sky people, they had wiped out their enemy when the Heda had been unwilling to do so. Of course Seren was unwaveringly loyal to the commander, however sometimes she didn't agree with some of her decisions. Sae was not among some of the people that had been recovered from the mountain, Seren had not expected her to be there, it had been five years, but her absence was still crushing. The mountain men had deserved everything that they got, Seren only wished that she had been there to see them burn.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy -- as well as the other delinquents -- had once believed that Grounders did not understand English. How wrong they had been. Yet even if this one couldn't, he knew that was not an excuse considering his use of her language. But judging by her attire and the smudged paint on her face . . . Bellamy could easily conclude that she was indeed a warrior. That her silence did not indicate lack of understanding. Lack of trust perhaps, but certainly no comprehension.
Not wasting any more time, Bellamy motioned to the opening of the cave, allowing her to go in first before he would follow. He was well aware that not all Grounders were particularly amicable toward Arkers . . . but there was also the ceasefire that no one wished to betray. That gave them some sort of semblance -- or at least illusion -- of peace. Bellamy was hardly naive enough to believe it would last, but he would eagerly take each day he could that their people were not at war. "Go ahead," he verbally prompted her, deciding that he would wait for her to go in, but was also urging her to do so quickly. The storm was only getting worse.

Seren hesitated briefly before entering the cave, glancing back over her shoulder one last time as if arguing with herself, wondering if the storm was as bad as it seemed and trying to calculate how fast she'd need to run in order to get back to the village. However soon after the thought of leaving entered her mind, it vanished, it didn't matter what pace she travelled at. She knew that she'd likely be crushed by a falling branch before she could cover half the distance to Tondc.
Letting out a grunt of dissatisfaction the grounder slipped into the cave, it was dark inside the cave but Seren had expected that, this wasn't the first time she'd had to seek refuge from a storm. Although strangely, she could never recall using this exact cave, maybe because she'd never been stranded in this area of the forest before or maybe it just came down to the fact that she was unaware of this particular caves existence.
As soon as she entered the cave however, she spun around to face the sky person, reaching behind her to firmly grip the hilt of her sword as she retreated further into the cave, her gaze never leaving his form. She didn't trust him, she was aware of the ceasefire, everybody was, but it didn't mean that everybody was willing to honour it and yet... Whoever this boy was, he had been willing to help her when he'd spotted her struggling in the storm, it could've been an act that had saved her life. Confusion. That's what she felt, every bone in her body told her that she couldn't trust him, his people were the reason that there was now a strain on the coalition, his people had killed countless of her own. They'd even sent a boy into her village and he'd slaughtered eighteen innocents, some of those people had been her friends, they claimed that they had no idea that events would play out like that, but Seren wasn't so sure...
Her gaze scanned his body, locking onto the weapon that he carried, a gun, of course... The sky people were more like the mountain men in terms of the weapons they carried. She'd learnt quickly that you did not want to get hit by a bullet from this weapon, the few who'd survived a gunshot wound in her village described that pain as nothing they'd ever felt before, an unbearable agony, a searing, burning pain that could not be erased. Of course she was cautious, a vague understanding that it would be idiotic for anyone to venture from their camp without a weapon at their side, she didn't quite understand why they needed guns to be their weapons, perhaps it was the fact that they lacked the skill to wield a sword or shoot an arrow from a bow.
Her grip shifted on her sword, if she remained on her guard then maybe if he tried anything she'd be ready, she doubted her chances against a gun but if it came to a fight then she wouldn't go down easily, it would be dishonourable for her to die without her sword in her hand. "What do you want Sky person?" she questioned him. The English language flowing easily from her mouth after years of practising it, a necessary part of her training to become a warrior, she knew that he'd helped her, but the question was why. Why would he help her, he certainly didn't owe her for anything, she was quite certain that she had never seen this man before, except briefly in passing perhaps when times were friendlier and they were plotting to infiltrate the mountain, but she'd never had a conversation with him... She hadn't actually had a proper conversation with any of the sky people. She didn't know much about them, but she was certain of one thing... They were dangerous.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy wasn't oblivious to her hesitaiton and evident distrust . . . which was entirely understandable. The ceasefire only meant that no one would attack the other. It didn't meant that the Arkers and Groudners were suddenly the best of friends. They had been through far too much. At the same time, whatever this truce was, held strong enough for Bellamy to be incapable of not offering help where he could. Considering how familiar Grounders were with the terrain and the elements . . . he knew that there was always the possibility she would have found elsewhere. But the fact of the matter was, he had the means to help her. And he had done it. With as much caution as she proceeded with, he did the same. Not necessarily all directed at her though. Once she entered the cave he followed, drawing out his weapon. As he moved behind her, his aim was not directed at her . . . but rather, what could potentially lurk in the shadows of the cave as they went deeper into it.
It could have been a creature, or a most hostile Grounder. Either way, he wasn't going to lower his weapon until he was certain that there was no threat in the place they claimed shelter. Which didn't take too long when they started to reach the end. He didn't return her gaze, though he could feel her eyes on him. It wasn't until she spoke, that he lowered his weapon, casually strapping it over his shoulder though was far from lowering his guard around her or where they were. What did he want. "Right now, I want to avoid being out in that storm." He knew that wasn't what she meant.
He was being a bit of a smart ass. But knew that the question begged for a more honest answer -- not that his own was a lie. "Other than that, nothing." Simple. Blunt. But honest. Sincere in his words. "Other than getting out of here alive." Another ever so slight joke, though not a humorous one at the same time. "Which is something we both want." It was an inadvertent way with suggesting that neither of them need draw weapons, or pose a threat to the other. The Commander may have betrayed the truce, but Bellamy also knew he could not generalize; not all Grounders were dishonorable people who went back on their word.

Seren watched as the man lowered his weapon, only then did she take her hand away from her sword and dropped it down to relax at her side. She was still fairly tense due to the fact that she was trapped in a cave with a potential enemy. But it was either face the sky person or head back out into the storm, the latter didn't hold much chance for survival and she needed to survive. Instead of gripping her sword now, her hand went to her belt to thumb the hilt of her knife, people who knew her would recognise this as a nervous movement for the girl as her gaze flickered around the cave every so often, scanning her surroundings, checking to see if there was any potential danger in the area. She figured that they were pretty safe, there was no animal scat to suggest that a predator lived in or around this cave and she was sure that if one did decide to appear then they could take it down pretty easily, the majority of the animals that roamed the woodlands looked fierce but they were relatively easy to kill if you knew how.
She listened to him as he spoke, intently, her gaze never once left him. She wasn't used to feeling uncomfortable in her own territory, it was foreign to her and she wasn't sure that she liked it. "Nobody does anything for nothing, why would you offer me shelter if you wanted nothing in return?" she asked, a suspicious glint lighting up her eyes as she studied him. Even as the words left his mouth she knew that he wasn't completely relaxed, he was still cautious of her, he wasn't stupid. He knew that she was a threat just as she knew that he was a threat.
"You have nothing to fear from me sky person" she breathed, taking the moment to wipe some of the water from her face "I honour the commanders ceasefire" she didn't want their people to be at war again, too many of her people had died last time. They had enough to worry about with the aftermath of what had happened at the mountain, rumours were flying, tales of an uprising from the north and if these rumours were true, they didn't need to fight each other, they'd have enough problems to keep them busy. whatever THE HELL WE WANT He listened intently as she spoke of how no one did something for nothing. He supposed that was true. There was legitimacy to that statement. Everything was for something; reciprocity was not a foreign concept. In this case, perhaps it was the fact that he could not cope with any more blood on his hands. To leave a life out there when he had the ability to help them. That in itself, was enough. But it wasn't exactly something easily expressed to the Grounder. It was a bit too emotionally rooted. A bit too deep for a conversation with a stranger. "Guess I'm nobody then," he said, not entirely joking, but hinting toward the fact that he didn't want anything from her in return. Perhaps his response was inadequate though. No, he knew it was.
"All I wanted was to offer shelter to someone who needed it. That's all." He knew that it would take more than words to offer her that assurance. But he supposed it was a start. Besides, who knew how long this storm would last. It could go on well throughout the night . . . which was not good. For if he was away from Arkadia too long, there would be concern. She then confirmed that he had nothing to fear from her, that she honored the Commander's truce. He gave a short nod, as they arrived to the end of the cave. It was far away enough from the opening so they didn't have to feel the heavy wind or rain from the storm. "As do I." Not because he was loyal to the Commander. But because he didn't want another war. This ceasefire was allowing them the time to settle. He would not jeapordize that. "Were you separated from anyone during the storm?" He inquired, wondering if there was another out there that she would be concerned about.

Seren raised an eyebrow at his words "I'm sure your people find you very amusing" she snorted, it was fair to say that she did not have much time for jokes these days. If it wasn't the Sky People then it was some other matter that had all of the warriors on edge, training night and day for a battle that would surely come eventually. Nobody knew when war would strike, they only knew that a battle was inevitable and something would happen eventually to trigger it and once again their land would be stained with blood, the blood of their enemies and the blood of their people, they wouldn't be able to tell the two apart.
"Many of your people wouldn't do the same... And if the roles were reversed I probably wouldn't give you a second glance" she admitted, she felt slightly guilty as the words left her mouth, especially as the man had been willing to help her, endangering his own life by doing so. At his question she shook her head "No, I was alone... Everybody else is back at my village, they'll be safe there" she muttered, leaning back against the wall after realising that as long as she didn't do anything to provoke him, then she was safe in the boys company.Bellamy Blake

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Her scoff wasn't a common sound he heard from Grounders. Then again, his experience with them was limited to interactions under intense cirucmstances. Tondc. The Harvest Chamber. Lincoln. He was a bit easier to get an amused smile from. Though he knew it was due to Octavia, just as Lincoln made her smile as well. "Sometimes," he answered, only half kidding. He wondered if Grounders understood sarcasm in the form of humor, or at all, but he wasn't going to quesiton it. Her next words and admittance did come at a bit of a surprise, though he withheld any show of this. He just looked at her, finding it was easier to respect someone who was brutally honest, than someone who sugar coated the truth with lies.
"I wouldn't expect you to." It wasn't an insult, nor a compliment. Truth was, he didn't expect anything from the Grounders. The last time they had relied on them, depended on them . . . they had betrayed his people. Granted, it was from the orders of the Commander, but still. "Our people once came together to overcome a common enemy." The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Such had been the case with the Reapers when they had been battling the Grounders. And such had been the case with the Grounders when they had been battling the Mountain Men. "Same thing right now." Only that common enemy was a storm.
Elements of nature. It was easier to explain it in that way, rather than the more emotional reason which was that Bellamy could not bare another death on his conscience . . . even if it wasn't one of his own people. It was still a person. She confirmed that she was alone, and Bellamy gave a short nod, leaning against the wall of the cave. "With any luck the storm will pass in a few hours." Hopefully before morning, but it look to be like a pretty bad one. Reaching into his pack, Bellamy pulled out a water pack. Fortunately, it was full as he had not drank from it since his venture out from Arkadia. He took a small sip from it, before extending it to her. The main reason being so that she knew there was nothing in it other than pure water.

Seren looked at the man as he spoke, she was finding it a little easier to trust him now, not completely lowering her guard but she tried to relax a little, it wouldn't do any good to stay hunched in a corner of the cave for hours waiting for the storm to pass, she'd just have to get used to the situation that they were in. "Do you have a name?" she asked him, thumbing the hilt of her knife that was on her hip. It probably sounded like a stupid question for a grounder to ask, none of the sky people were really used to having casual conversations with the natives, but the grounders hadn't really spoken to the sky people either. Either they had no wish to associate themselves with them, or they were wary of being seen talking to them.
She looked at the ground as he referred to when they had worked together to defeat the mountain men... That had not worked out the way anybody had anticipated. Seren stopped thumbing the hilt of her knife now and instead chose to grab it, although she kept it firmly within its sheath, another subtle indication that she was nervous. "The Commander is a great leader" she muttered, hoping that her words didn't anger him in any way "In war, you have to make hard decisions... She made the choice based on what was best for us and ensured that none of our warriors would die unnecessarily, her duty is to her people first and that duty to her people overrules the duty she had to honour the alliance she made with your people" she recalled the day the mountain had fallen, when the Heda had called for them to retreat, it had angered quite a few of the warriors, many claiming that they should strike whilst they are weak, destroy the mountain and avenge the ones that they had lost. But that wasn't the decision that had been made.
"Storms like these can last for hours" she mumbled, obviously not enjoying the idea of spending hours in the cave, she was impatient to get home and help repair any damage that the storm caused to her village, find out if there had been any casualties, although she doubted it, this wasn't the first storm the clan had to endure and it wouldn't be the last. She tensed slightly as she saw him reach into his bag but allowed herself to relax when it appeared that he was only getting a drink for himself. As he extended the water pack to her she cautiously took it, they carried their water in weird containers, the water gourds they used were made from animal hide and sometimes they were carved from wood, but eventually the wood rotted and Seren found that it was much more effective to use the hide of an animal. She had seen him drink from the bottle so she knew that it could not be poisoned... Unless it was a slow acting poison and he aimed to get the antidote before it disabled his body completely, but she doubted that he had much skill in using poisons. Taking a tentative sip of the liquid, she found that it tasted normal, as far as she could tell but she handed it back to him rather hurriedly, either because she was unwilling to use anything that could link her to the sky people, or maybe it was just because she wasn't thirsty.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT She asked his name. Had the question been presented at an earlier time, before Mount Weather, Bellamy would have had every hesitation to give it. It was too personal; something he didn't want others he didn't trust to know. But now, there was no harm in it. It was just a name after all. "Bellamy," he answered, his voice indifferent to the revelation. "You?" Common courtesy to ask in return. Not to mention a slight genuine curiosity as to who the woman was that he was currently seeking refuge with. The conversation turned to the topic of the Commander. Bellamy casually looked away, his jaw clenching in attempt to fight back the emotions.
Lexa had betrayed them. That was all there was to it. And no matter what the Grounders said to defend her decision . . . Bellamy wasn't buying it. It didn't make sense. None of it. They had known that there was going to be a fight. The Grounders had the numbers. An army that could defeat the handful of Mountain Men within. That had been part of their deal. The point of it. He would lower the weapons, if they fought on the outside. But instead, she struck a deal to save her people.
And yet, not save them at the same time. For they were willing to leave Mount Weather in tact. They were willing to leave the facility. What did they think would happen? The next generation of Mountain People would not have immunuity. The Arkers would be dead. Who would be left to hunt by the Grounders. It just set them back to the same pattern of getting their ass kicked by Mount Weather. So where was the threat truly eliminated before he and Clarke had pulled that lever. No. He didn't understand. He never would. Nor did he want to.
"And what would have happened to future generations? What of the Reapers?" The ones that she left. The ones that the Arkers had the technology to save. His words were emotionless, spoken in the same stoic tone he often used. He couldn't let his emotion out. It was too dangerous. It was too painful to think of what he had done to all those innocent people, not that the thought ever left his mind.
"Jus drein jus daun." He knew a bit of the Grounder language. That phrase in particular. It had been relevant when it came to giving up Finn. But apparently hadn't been when it came to claiming justice against the people who had killed theirs for nearly a century. "What about justice?" Was his final question. Where was the justice? Wasn't that what Grounders stood for? Avenge the dead? Bring them justice? Didn't that matter to them? Or only when it was demanded from Skaikru apparently. So no. He did not agree. There was no honor in bertraying an alliance. He continued to remain silent as she passed back the water, his hand reaching out to take it and tuck it away fornow.

As he gave his name, alarm bells started going off in her head. Where had she heard that name before, it wasn't a name that a member of her clan possessed, she knew this because it was an unusual name to find on the ground. "Seren" she muttered her own name in response to his words, her brow furrowing as she tried to place the man and for the first time, she actually looked at him, squinting as she scanned the features of his face. Bellamy. She flinched slightly as the memory came to her "You're the boy they sent into the mountain?" she spoke aloud, almost without meaning to. The man was one of the reasons why the mountain fell, he was the reason why the mountain fell.
At his question she arched an eyebrow questioningly "The future generations?" she questioned him "that was not a problem to think about at the current time, that was a problem for the next generation, we'd figure out what to do when the time came to take action" Seren unsheathed her knife and stabbed it into the floor of the cave, almost as if she was seeking to give her hands something to do. "What were we supposed to do?" mumbling the words she lifted her gaze to watch him "they had already taken our people from their prison, they were ready to execute them if the Commander did not accept the deal, she could not allow that to happen" He caught her attention yet again as he used a phrase she knew all too well in her native language of Trigedasleng Jus Drein Jus Daun 'Blood Must Have Blood' her eyes narrowed into a glare as she watched him. "Justice?" she whispered "you speak to me about justice? Skaikru are not the only ones who have lost people, you've lost a handful of your people, we've lost thousands! Not only to the mountain men either, your people have caused ours so much pain since your arrival, you know little of how we have suffered" the sky people thought that they were the unlucky ones, the Commander had shown them mercy on so many occasions, with the size of their army the Trikru could've wiped Skaikru out before they'd had time to send for the reinforcements from the sky.
"The boy who slaughtered eighteen of our people in my village, he should've been tied to a tree and made to suffer the pain of eighteen deaths and yet his pain ended far too quickly" she spat on the ground as if the words left a vile taste in her mouth "the Commander could've demanded the massacre be paid with the lives of eighteen of your people, but she only demanded the price of one, you should consider yourselves lucky for I know of many who would love to watch your village burn" she lowered her gaze once again to her knife, a sad smile appearing on her face as the anger that she felt ebbed slightly "believe me when I say, you are not the only one who wishes what happened at the mountain had ended differently Bellamy Kom Skaikru" Bellamy Blake

whatever THE HELL WE WANT The boy who went into the mountain. It made sense that he would be described as that. "Yeah," he answered, almost dismissively. He had been the one who had gone in. He had been the one who witnessed the horrors. He had been the one who saw and interacted the innocent people in there. He had been the one that the Mountain People had trusted. And . . . he had been the one to kill them. He didn't want to dwell on that though, and yet, the topic that the Grounder had presented was a dangerous one. Defending the decision of the commander. He almost scoffed at her response.
"Not a problem to think about?" He repeated in disbelief. "Your Commander made a decision that condemned your people. Why the hell would you have to figure out what to do later, when the solution was right there." The possible solution of getting rid of the project that killed so many of their people. "Why wait for more of your people to die?" The questions were rhetorical. Not a problem to think about. Clearly not. Because the Commander hadn't seemed to be thinking long term. Or, even about tomorrow. Her actions were cowardly. Running away from a fight. Betraying an alliance. It was weak, and no amount of supposed justification could ever convince Bellamy otherwise. "Everyone knew a fight was coming," he countered.
"That was your people's part of the deal. To fight the army. I was in there. The number of Mountain Men were nothing compared to the number of warriors your people had. They were no match. Your people within Mount Weather were ready to fight. There was an army inside and outside. We would have won." People would have died of course, but this was all part of the deal. The Arkers job was to turn off the weapons, to do the inside work which Bellamy had done. Yet, when it was time for the Grounders to uphold their end of the deal . . . they hadn't. They left the Arkers to do all the work, and then left them to die. It was enough to enrage Bellamy, though he made no show of it right now. He still maintained his stoic composure. She then brought up the village, conveniently changing the subject. Big damn surprise.
"My people?" He repeated. "You attacked us first. You hunted us. You sent an army to kill us." Yet, the Arkers were the villains? They only ever defended themselves. It was the Grounders who constantly attacked them. Then when they won, they were villainized for it. But the topic of Finn . . . even this was not something Bellamy could remain silent on. "He died to answer for those crimes. It was a deal to solidify the truce. But in the end, it didn't make a damn difference because your Commander betrayed us." She had opened the can of worms, and Bellamy was not going to stand here and sympathize with her when the Grounders always showed betrayal and violence toward them.
Finn's death had been part of the deal . . . and it was for nothing. "You demanded Finn, but didn't bother demanding Cage for the crimes against your people for generations." It made no sense. Cage was the leader and for some reason, Grounders only demanded that kind of justice from Arkers. "So don't stand there, and tell us that we're lucky. Don't act like the victims in a war you started." He was done appeasing the Grounders. Not all were bad, he knew that. But Seren . . . she had brought this up and he was not going to back down.
"I did what was necessary to help your people." Freed them from the cages, hell even in some encounters Bellamy had with Grounders after Mount Weather where he did what he could to help. "It's just a damn shame you, and your people haven't and wouldn't do the same." Something she had admitted to early on. Something that he believed whole heartedly. And something that reinforced the imbalance between the dynamic of Arkers and Grounders. One group was clearly the one who gave everything and received nothing, the other group the one that took everything and gave nothing.

"The priority was to get our people out of the mountain, away from immediate danger" she told him hesitantly "that mountain has been impenetrable since the day that we discovered it, it has claimed thousands of our people and turned others into monsters" she knew that Bellamy was angry, that he didn't agree with the Commanders decision because it had cost some of his own people their lives and she understood the anger that he felt, but she couldn't sympathise with him. Not when the sacrifice of a few of his people had saved her own. "For us... There was no other way, no other solution, they sent a missile to my village, it claimed countless lives, the power that the mountain held over us is not something I am proud of but our losses could have been greater if we'd sent our army into that place and I know many of our warriors would be reluctant to leave anyone alive, even if you claim that some of them were innocent"
At his words her glare latched back onto him "I didn't know that you could see into the future, is that a gift that Skaikru possess?" she asked him, sarcasm dripping from her voice "You cannot be certain that we would have been victorious, our people in the mountain were the priority, sacrificing a handful of your people to save hundreds of ours seemed worth it at the time" she met his gaze as she tucked her knife back into her belt, her hands balling into fists. It was so frustrating to be trapped in a cave with a man that would never understand why the decision had been made. "I do not agree with everything our Commander does, I wanted to avenge the people we lost in the mountain, I wanted them to suffer as we have suffered, but that was not what was decided... Would you not have done the same if you could be guaranteed that the lives of every single one of your people would be spared?" questioning him cautiously, she wiped a hand over her face, sure that most of the war paint that had once been there had been completely washed away.
"We may have had the numbers, but they had the technology, we have seen how much damage guns can do, the Commander was not ready to risk losing her army just to save a few of your people" her voice wavered slightly, her brow furrowing as if in thought "It was... Wrong... But either way, the mountain had to fall for our people to move on, Jus Drein Jus Daun, like you said... Every man, woman and child in that mountain were guilty of bleeding my people to preserve their own lives" as the man began to show signs of anger, Seren automatically got to her feet. "We have been trained all our lives for battle, instead of toys to play with we were trained how to use knives and spears, when we saw you fall from the sky we reacted negatively, that is true, we hunted you because of the threat we thought you posed to the villages that were nearest to your crash site"
Seren studied the man cautiously, she viewed him as nothing more than a child who was unable to control his anger, he lacked the discipline that all grounder children were used to. As a child Seren had been used to the rough handling from her father and the long sparring sessions with the other seconds. It was clear that the Sky People had grown up very differently to them. As he countered her argument her gaze narrowed "It may have been a betrayal to you, but it was a tactical move to avoid a battle that would claim countless lives, the boy called Finn, he slaughtered the children in that village as they fled, my village demanded justice, the Commander promised us justice and then we never got it, just as she promised us justice at the mountain and again, we never got it! That is... Until you and your people went in and wiped them out and I suppose I should thank you for that, for getting rid of the threat that they posed" she offered a slight shrug of her shoulders as if the deaths meant nothing to her before she placed a hand on the wall of the cave, letting out a small sigh that she could no longer hold in.
"The death of their leader would not have been enough to please my people, I know that it wouldn't have pleased me, they all had to die... All of them, every single one and only then would I be happy, only then would my people be content" she muttered, closing her eyes briefly "but you are lucky... My clan, they allowed you to live after you landed in our territory, if you had landed further north, in Azgeda territory I doubt you'd be alive today" a small smirk played upon the grounders lips now as she turned to him "Like it or not Bellamy, you are the enemy, there may be a truce in place but you have always been the enemy, my people do what they have to, to survive, that has always been our way, I appreciate what you did in the mountain more than most but my loyalties are to my people, to my clan... Helping you would be seen by many as a personal betrayal, my father certainly wouldn't stand for it, there may be a truce but our people are definitely not at peace"
