Gena didn’t remember ever feeling this cold at work or at any time up on the Ark. That was perhaps one of the very few perks about being around the kitchens and Agro in general: Warmth was kind of important there, the plants needed the stable condition and the citizens on the station, or at least a few of them, among them her. Here on the ground things were slightly different. First, it felt, completely subjectively, a lot colder than on the Ark. Secondly she hadn’t had any shifts around cooking in quite some while, so no chance at actually warming up. Thirdly, which was probably the worst part about it all: Genas clothing was certainly not fit for this weather. All in all resulted in Gena shivering, teeth almost chattering in the beginning even. She didn’t warm up throughout her entire shift.
It was only after her shift, that she could do something about it. Gena generally didn’t drink during work, but as soon as the shift was over, she poured herself a drink in the hopes that the liquid would help her get warm. Tonight she was not supposed to clean up, so she walked right outside. It didn’t take long for her to spot Bellamy. “When did it get so cold exactly?” The brunette asked her friend. “I couldn’t stop shivering through my entire shift. Shivering is not bad, right? I won’t stay shivering forever?” She teased. It was no real concern of hers, but really no better joke came to her as she had trouble controlling even just her teeth’s chattering. “Want to go sit at a bonfire with me?”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Winter. This was what they had all been preparing for as best they could -- and dreading at the same time. Everyone knew the stories of winter; the bitter cold air. The snow. The ice. All of it was intriguing in theory . . . but living it, was a whole other matter. Fortunately, they had the Ark now. There was ample space for everyone as most have moved in. But it wasn't like they had internal heating. They were still working on things. Mount Weather had slowed down a hell of a lot of progress and for very understandable reasons. There was still a lot of work that needed to be done. For right now, they just had to count their blessings that they had a roof over their head and at least some food to eat. They'd managed to build a preservation area for the meat they hunted a bit ago as well as whatever they gathered that would fall out of season once winter was upon them.
It was keeping warm that was the biggest challenge. No ones clothes were fully equipped for this, and there were only so many garments and blankets they could create with the limited animal fur they had. It wasn't enough for everyone to have some. Bellamy just hoped they would have better luck during the next hunt. He was about to do his rounds to see how everyone was faring when a voice stopped him, which he didn't mind in the slightest for it was most welcome company. He wished he could do more to help ease the cold that was clearly plaguging her . . . though he had some idea of how to help at night. "Hopefully not," he assured her. "We're working on getting some sort of heating system inside." It would take time and right now, the best they could do were small fires.
Speaking of which, she asked him to join her near the large bonfire where those who were outside were gathered around, especially the guards. "Let's go," he agreed, casually putting his hand on her back as they neared to where the bit of warmth was radiating from. He proceeded to pull off his jacket, draping it around her, all too aware that they would need to find thicker clothing and better material to make it out of. For now, all he had to offer was the jacket he'd had since he came to the ground -- the one he had changed from its original form. Along with the cold came all the risks of sicknesses associated with it. He then reached for her hands, putting them in between both of his and rubbing them together to create some heat. "You want something to drink? It'll help." He offered. Monty had been distributing mint tea to those who were out here getting work done.

In all honesty the heating wasn’t the most important part for her this winter. Sure it would make things a lot easier, especially for her, but that was not what was most important. They needed food, they needed security. They could always get a lot closer during winter if they needed warmth. And with them working on the heating, It should be on in no time. She should stop shivering at one point or at least she hoped she would. Cold was not something she liked, Gena found. She had a hard time coping with it, actually, a really hard time, which was why she was hoping Bellamy would sit at the bonfire with her before she had to go out and sleep so she was ready for the next day. She didn’t know if she would get any sleep at all given that she would be shivering the entire time she guessed.
Being led to the bonfire by him, Gena found herself in a more intimate situation than she anticipated. One moment she was so focused on shivering, the next she sat next to Bellamy surrounded fully be him, his spell, his presence. She leaned against his shoulder as he held her hand, his warm larger hands giving of the kind of warmth she hadn’t felt in quite a while. As she leaned against him, she still breathed in, smelling his masculine scent that smelled of safety. And right now he even managed to protect her from the worst cold. She wanted to make it up to him, keep him warm as well, but the shivering hadn’t stopped yet and she knew her hands must be like ice between his. Finally he asked her about the drink. Looking up at him, she saw nothing that suggested he was teasing her, but a lot that was suggesting he was genuinely just trying to get her warm. Gena felt this sensation again, her heart was beating so fast, she feared it would beat out of her chest, there was this fluttering sensation in her stomach, but somehow positive, too, way too positive to be normal, right? “Nice try.” But it was more than that, wasn’t it? Gena felt her cheeks go a bit warmer than they usually did, especially given that she felt miserably cold. Was she blushing? Oh damn. “Fine, you win. You get to give me the drink after all. That’s how cold I am.” But at the same time it was a bad idea. “On second thought: Can you get the drink without moving? You’re warm. I don’t want that drink enough to lose the warmth.”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy knew he couldn't do much to protect people from the cold. So whatever little he could do, he would so eagerly. Especially with Gena. He was caring about her more and more with each passing day, and knowing she was in discomfort made him wish he had the power to find a way to keep her warm all the time. He wanted to do more for her, feeling like even this wasn't enough. He adjusted his jacket that he had put over her, making sure she was bundled up under it.
She needed it more than him anyway. When she leaned against his shoulder, he moved one of his arms so that it was draped around her, holding her close to him. It felt good. Right. To have her against him like this -- even if it was the cold they were using as justification. The sentiment was not missed on Bellamy, and he found himeslf basking in the sensation of just being near her. Against her. His other hand engulfed hers, still trying to keep it warm while his hand wrapped around her rubbing against her upper arm to try and create some heat against her.
"I will get you that drink," he promised with a light smirk playing on his features. Slightly turning his head, he casually spoke against her ear, uncaring who was looking right now. "But first, I'll make sure you're warm." His words weren't overly suggestive, but they were a promise. A vow to protect her, even if it was from the inevitable cold that plagued them. He turned his head forward once more, allowing her lean against him with more ease. "We'll get it when we go inside." Because he was damn well going to make sure she was settled comfortably and warmly in her quarters.

It was comfortable, being settled against him like that. He was strong, there was no doubt about that in any position, but right now she could really feel it. She felt his muscle move under her, but she also felt bad. She didn’t want him to get cold. There had to be something that could keep both of them warm, that included both of his sides, not just one. Cuddling up like that did do the trick on one side, but he was exposed on the other and she was not okay with that. Gena reached over to place her hand on his side. It wasn’t that cold anymore, but not as remotely warm as the hand in his was getting. This was comfortable. Gena barely noticed the others reacting to them, because what did it matter? Let them talk, let them think what they wanted to think, they couldn’t control it. It was important what they thought. Right now her thoughts were on how comfortable she felt snuggled warm against Bellamy, in his jacket.
“Thank you.” Gena whispered against him. It was not something to take for granted. He didn’t have to warm her. Their friendship was one thing, but this was a very physical thing as well as emotional. She didn’t want to overstep limits. She wanted the things to progress at both their terms and she was aware that with the things he’s seen she should adjust to his pace, not the other way around. “Maybe we should go inside now.” Gena suggested. “I mean it’s so nice at a fire, but we’re more protected from wind inside and you” she poked at his side “are quite exposed. I don’t want you to get sick, just because your mother raised you to be a gentleman. Come on. Let's go inside and find ourselves a half warm corner.” Bellamy Blake

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy was all too inclined to agree with her suggestion of going inside. Staying out here unless they had to wasn't the best idea. They could go inside, get properly warm and allow themselves the layers of whatever blankets and clothing that they had. Besides, the temperature would drop even more tonight. He gave a bit of a smile when she poked him and spoke of how she didn't want him to get sick because he was a 'gentlman'. He appreciated the sentiment, knowing that he wasn't one, but nor did he reject her logic for it was fairly sound. Giving a woman a coat could indeed be regarded as a chivalarious action, though that's not why he had done it. Tilting his head t the side, his eyes rested on her.
"Sounds good to me," he stated, knowing he could get the drink for her inside as well for that too would help her warm. He then began to rise to his feet, helping her up in the process, making no move for his jacket. She needed it more than he did after all. He parted his lips to say something and instead, turned his head just time to let out a small sneeze. Sniffing afterwards, he shook his head a little to clear it of whatever tickle he had. "Yeah we should definitely go inside." Before either of them got sick. "Last thing Abby needs is more patients." Med bay was already filled with people and between her being the doctor and Chancellor . . . she struggled to keep up with the demand. With that, he casually put his hand on her back as they walked toward the entrance of the Ark. "Do you have a proper blanket at your place?" He asked, wondering if it was thick enough or if he should get his for her.

As Gena got up - with Bellamy aiding her, making it easier – she was surprised to hear him sneeze. Honestly this was the first time ever she heard that and saw it. Bellamy Blake, the seemingly invincible Bellamy Blake, former cadet, former janitor and leader sneezed and not unlikely it was due to the cold. She should return his jacket to him, but Gena knew there was next to no point to trying. This was Bellamy after all. He was the kind of person to want others safe and warm, even though he suffered, which was currently probably the case. So she didn’t try.
“It’s still weird to know that you can call doctor Griffin Abby.” But he knew her daughter closely, her first name was probably coming in a deal with his closeness to the missing girl and his closeness with the council. He had been leading the kids that had been sent down to earth, he was still taking care of them, too. Of course he knew this woman by her first name, but that was not the priority here. The priority was and had to be getting both of them warm. Warm meant inside, with a blanket, though she had only one. “I have a blanket. One of those redish – orange ones.” They weren’t thick and warm at all, but it was all she had at the moment. “My place is horrible for winter. No heating either. Like none. I let in the cold once and there is no way for me to get the warmth back.” Gena leaned against him, seeking not only his warmth, but to give him hers as well.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy hadn't thought twice about his casual referral to the good doctor. Not until Gena said it and it caused him to pause, give a slight smile and even smaller shrug. "Guess I've been spending too much time around Kane and Jackson," he stated, only half joking. Abby often pulled double duty, attempting to perform her medical obligations as well as those of Chancellor. It was hardly uncommon for Bellamy, Kane, Abby and Jackson all to be within the same room for lengthy periods of time. He figured it was also due to his comfort level with Gena, that he didn't really think twice before referring to someone void of their proper title.
She then spoke of the thin blanket she had, continuing about how her quarters weren't good for winter. A thought came to the older Blake sibling, one that came with ease. Too much ease perhaps. But Bellamy was not going to over think or question it. As he ahd previously established, he felt utterly comfortable in front of Gena . . . which was why he made his offer without the slightest bit of hesitation. And a nonchalant tone to it. It made it all the easier when she leaned against him, as he derived the warmth her body provided as well as attempted to give what he could of his own. "Then grab your stuff and stay at my place." He wasn't in the habit of inviting women over. The most had been to his tent when they'd first landed.
But this offer was beyond spending the night for physical reasons. And that . . . would have surprised him had he not felt so at ease with the woman he offered it to. He turned his head to look at her, trying to determine what he would see on her expression . . . braced for potential rejection for his offer. Despite his stoic demeanor, he actually felt oddly nervous as he awaited her answer. "At least until it gets warmer." Temporary. And yet the thought of Gena staying with him was . . . far more appealing than perhaps it should be. Then again, what was the harm in that? Why shouldn't it be appealing? She was an incredible woman, one that Bellamy was extremely fortunate to have in his life, in this way.

With how comfortable they were around each other, Gena still never expected to hear Bellamy offer something like this. He had never seen anyone else spend the night at his place, not even his sister, but maybe that was due to her wanting to stay with her boyfriend, she would probably want to stay with Bellamy if she didn’t have her boyfriend, they were siblings after all. And Bellamy cared so much about her. Regardless he had just offered for her to stay with him. Part of her told her to decline. This was a step they should think through. On the other hand it was motivated by a current situation: The fact that being in the cold all day had her shivering against him. Shared boy heat was a great thing in that case, it helped people to stay warm and didn’t cost them much. Even if they wouldn’t stay close at night, two bodies in a small place would heat up the room more than one body could.
“Okay.” Gena finally agreed. It was a good idea to keep both of them warm during the winter. And on this earth survival was not easy, it was a challenge, one that both of them probably intended to win. And they were close, so what could the harm be? They knew they could talk. For now the main thing was to get warm. Gena continued to move to her place. Once there she made quick work of things. She didn’t have much. Her pillow, blanket, her clothing and towels as well as her tablet and light were packed into a bag within seconds. All the other decorations remained. “Do we need anything else?”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had tried to be nonchalant in his suggestion, but he found himnself occasionally glancing at Gena to try and determine what her thoughts were about his proposition. Her simple reply was . . . well, didn't quite reveal what she was thinking. She agreed though, and he supposed they would have a conversation about it when the time was better suited for it. Meaning, when they were not walking toward her room, consumed with thoughts and feelings of the cold air right now. Bellamy was doing all he could to withhold another sneeze that tickled at his nose.
When she began to gather her things, he reached over and took the pillow, blanket, clothing and towels, allowing her to carry the tablet and lamp so that nothing would fall -- as those were the more delicate items. With his arms full, she asked if they needed anything else, and he gave a quick glance around her quarters. "Not unless you need anything." He paused for a moment. This wasn't permanent after all. Not unless they wanted it to be, but that -- as previously established -- was a conversation for another time.
"We can always come back and grab it," he added. Should she need something, the option to return was there. "Come on," he stated as he turned to leave, taking a deep breath to suppress another sneeze. Maybe it was just the cold air. Yeah. That had to be it. Because Bellamy refused to acknowledge the possibility that he could be getting sick. So instead, just focused on getting Gena settled in a place where she could be warm . . . which meant, his room.

He was right. They could always come back if they needed more. For now they would be good. She had everything. It still felt surreal. She would stay with him, for warmth only, of course. But what if it was for more? Well that was entirely in the future. The two of them carried the things through the corridors. But something was weird with him. Maybe he wasn’t fully okay with it. Maybe he didn’t know himself. Maybe it was the way the others were looking at him. She knew Bellamy was usually not too burdened by the looks of the others, but at the same time she knew he didn’t like to be looked at. For once, though, he would be looked at for something good-ish, helping someone – in the best case.
When Gena entered the room with him, the warmth was immediately noticeable. It wasn’t as warm as it was at the fire, but sure as hell not as cold as her room and the hangar. Sitting together would actually provide them with a certain warmth. This really was a great idea. Gena placed her things – those she was actually holding and not him – on the bed, before turning around to wrap her arms around Bellamy. With a gentle kiss to his cheek, she smiled at him “My savior.” Gena whispered against him. Because he really had saved her from the cold by asking her to stay in here for warmth. But there was still something to speak about. “Where do you want me to sleep?”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Once they entered the room, Bellamy set the things he had on the bed before turning to Gena, who wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek. He couldn't help but smile; she often had that affect on him. Even just catching sight of her was enough to draw his lips into this expression. While he knew he wasn't a savior, he appreciated the teasing comment, as the small but sincere smiled remained on his lips. Between the tender kiss on his cheek and her playful title, it was impossible not to smile. "I like to prove that chivalry isn't dead." He was encouraging the joke, the teasing mood that was so easy to exist.
She drew it out of him so naturally, effortlessly. And that was why he loved being in her company so much. It was . . . effortless. No tension, no complications. Just two people who cared about each other. She then asked him a question regarding sleeping arrangements. He had an easy enough answer to that. "On the bed," he answered with hardly any reluctance in his tone. No. There was no doubt about it. Now whether she wanted him to join her or not, that was her decision.
His preference would always be to hold her, and yet . . . he would respect her own level of comfort. "You have your pillows," he pointed out, briefly glancing at them before looking back at her. "Or you can improvise." Meaning, using him. It was his way of subtly determined her preference and comfort level . . . and he would of course respect it. After all, he'd spent years sleeping on the floor back on the Ark. The quarters here were far bigger than the apartment he had grown up in. Comfort was hardly an issue.

Sharing a bed. Wow. That was one thing she didn’t really expect. But at the same time she kind of did. That was just the Bellamy she knew, always a gentleman, always caring and certainly never afraid of physical proximity. She wondered if that had a source in his childhood or if he just simply enjoyed the physical comfort so much? Either way she loved it. She loved how it was no big deal with him when it was for others. For him even holding someones hand was no big deal, while others would interpret it entirely differently. Gena liked it, though. She liked to know she could hug him and he would relish in the sensation. She liked that in turn, he held her when she needed it. It was wonderful. Maybe that was part of why it was so easy for her to think this might work.
“Or we could just wing it.” Gena suggested. “I mean we will eventually find a position that’s comfortable for the both of us, don’t you agree?” They would find something. Gena made her way to the bed then. She sat down on it, immediately sighing at the softness of it. Well she could just imagine how nice it would be to be snuggled into this bed. It was also surprisingly large. Toeing off her shoes, Gena tugged on Bells hand as she leaned back, wanting him to lay down with her. “Lets find that position now. Unless you already want to really go to bed.” She wouldn’t be against it for sure. They were both hardworking, they deserved a good nights rest for sure.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Wing it. Yes. That definitely sounded like the least complicated route to take. Bellamy had no objection to that. "Sounds good to me," he said with a smile. With how easy it was to be with her, the effortless enjoyment he found with great ease in her company . . . well, he had no concerns about their ability to wing it. This entire relationship was forming to something far deeper than Bellamy had ever allowed himself to experience before. He was looking forward to further developing it, seeing where it went as his heart told him all paths led to only good things between them. Or so he hoped. He watched her for a moment as she went to the bed, taking off her shoes so that she could start to get into a comfortable position.
She gently tugged at him, suggesting that they could find that position and lay down now. Bellamy didn't want to admit just how tempting that was. Not only due to her company -- though that was a major factor. But also because his head felt heavier than usual. It didn't feel the same way it had when severely dehydrated or over exerted in terms of energy levels. Whatever was causing it, he hoped he could just sleep it off later in the night. Not right now though. Moving toward the bed as well, he sat at the edge and started to remove his boots, one at a time, and setting them off to the side. He then turned his attentions back to her, his upper body turned towards her. "Why, do you have a reason to keep me up?" He teased, his voice playful, a smirk on his features to match his used tone.

He had a very good point. She really had no reason to keep him up at all. If they went to sleep now, they could almost sleep in, so it might actually be the best idea to just change into what they slept in now and then sleep. “You make a good point.” She said, almost mirroring what he tended to say about her arguments. She got up and started to take off her pants and shirt and replaced them with the lose pants and shirt she usually slept in. Gena removed her bra while already wearing the sleeping shirt. “Now I have exactly no reason to keep you up or make you get up again.” She mentioned, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth. Changing was always a bit of a pest, though. It was cold and so she made her way under the blankets. She was cold, man. And she couldn’t wait to get to snuggle up to Bellamy, because he was warm.
Gena slipped herself under the blanket. It would be a tight fit, but that one would help the warmth. And it felt good to rest under the blanket. With him she would probably be warm in no time. Bringing the blanket up to her chin, she smirked at Bellamy. “Go on, strip for me and come to bed.” It was a tease of course, nothing more, but she just liked to see him smile and she hoped to achieve that. “You know we can technically sleep in tomorrow. Unless your shifts changed.”
