The day was full of surprises. Hell, Rose's life in for the past nine months and a week in general. She had met Bellamy after the drop, hooked up with him, and got pregnant. They had gotten together, but here they were, roughly nine months later, taking a freaking hike! Granted, they were scouting the area, and apparently exercise was healthy for pregnant women, even those of which who were a week overdue. So there they were, a half hour into their walk, Rose becoming tired, cranky, and extremely uncomfortable.
Rose groaned, looking at her bloated stomach as she trudged through the woods. One week overdue. One whole week. "I want you out. Now." Rose ordered aloud. Her hormones were all over the place, not to mention, being overdue for delivery by a week made her both edgy and uncomfortable, as well as the Braxton Hicks contractions. "Bellll," Rose whined. "Why doesn't she wanna come out?" Rose asked with an exasperated sigh. She always called the baby a she, because that's what she wanted. She wanted a girl.
Rose sighed, leaning against a tree. Her face scrunched up in pain as another false contraction passed over. "Dammit, dammit, dammit." Rose muttered, breathing in and out deeply. After a few seconds, it had passed and she stood back up, hands on her belly as she went to Bellamy's. "Let's talk names." Rose said. "You know that I want a girl, but I don't care if it's a boy either," Rose started. "If it's a girl, I wanted Rowan, after my grandmother. If it's a boy, Joshua. What about yo-?" Rose was then cut off by an arrow flying over her nose, narrowly missing it by a millimeter.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Things had taken an unexpected turn . . . but such was life on Earth. After Mount Weather, Bellamy wasn't sure how he was going to cope with what he had done. He was bathing in the blood of over 600 people. Innocent people -- most of them. He had felt like he lost any semblance of hope . . . when Rose Chase had given him news. News that would shift everything. News that would change his life. She was pregnant. She was pregnant with his child. He was going to be a father.
He knew he didn't deserve the love that would come with this role, but he hadn't considered for a moment not being in the child's life. Perhaps it was selfish desire. Perhaps it was the want for his son or daughter to grow up with two parents who loved them emphatically. Bellamy never had a father figure in his life before, but he had raised Octavia. So this child, it marked a new hope for him. It was his saving grace. And, it was the first child of their people born on Earth. It marked a new generation, of being on the ground.
The months that followed had been ones consumed with establishing a stable camp. They had built cabins to endure the winter month -- which had long since passed -- and had crops growing and well as functioning utilities. Yes; the Arkers were here to say. Among all this, he had established a solid relationship with the mother of his child. Bellamy had never been in a romantic relationship before but just as this was his first, it was his first child too.
And the affection that he felt for the woman who would birth it was immense. They were currently out for a walk, as exercise was good for the baby. It was something his mother hadn't been able to do outside their apartment when she'd been pregnant with Octavia. Bellamy was prepared though, his knowledge of pregnancies obtained when he was six and seven years old. Furthermore, he had spoken to Abby at great length about anything and everything there was to know about this. He was not going to risk anything.
Rose was a week overdue and he knew it was weighing heavily on her. Which was why he had suggested the distraction of a walk. He moved alongside her, his gun strapped on his shoulder, and guard fiercly raised. As if he wasn't protective enough over his people, he was all the more protective over his unborn child and the mother of said child. She began to scold the child, saying she wanted it out of her and then questioning why she didn't want to come out. "Maybe his or her mom is scaring her," he said with obvious jest as a light smirk played on his face. "Or maybe he doesn't like being referred to as a she," he further teased. Truth be told, Bellamy didn't mind if it was a girl or a boy. He would love the child unconditionally. But he was teasing over the possibility of it being a boy, just to play with Rose and her already raised hormonal state.
He noticed her stop and lean against a tree causing him to immediately halt as way and staying close to her, adjusting the bag strap around him, in preperation for anything while they were out for their walk. "We're close to camp," he reassured her. He knew she was getting tired now, which was why he had routed the whole walk out, and they were growing nearer by each step. But he would wait until she was able to move, and speaking of children's name was another good distraction. He listened attentively as she began to suggest a couple, but an arrow pierced through the air, just barley missing her. Bellamy instinctively acted, putting himself right in front of her as a human shield.
He raised his gun and began to fire, knowing he hit one of the targets but also knew that Grounders traveled in groups. And the one he killed was not likely the only one. "Time to go," he said as he ushered her to move back, his own stance remaining protectively behind her while his body was turned, causing him to walk backwards a little to be sure there were no more threats from behind. They could appear in front too. With Rose's very pregnant state . . . it was too risky to go back to camp. "Over there," he told her, motioning with his gun toward the small cave nearby, waiting for her to get there as he fired a couple more shots through the air to ensure that they would not be followed or that no more arrows would fly their way.

Rose rolled her eyes at Bellamy's reply to her question. "Maybe his or her mom is scaring her." Bellamy had said. She stuck her tongue out at Bellamy at that statement. "Ha. Ha. Ha. You're hilarious." Rose replied with equal verve. As he continued, she rolled her eyes. "Or maybe he doesn't like being referred to as a she." Rose playfully scoffed at that.
"It is a girl! I can just tell!" Rose said, persistently being stubborn. As she came down from the wave of false contraction, she stated her reasoning. "My mom's side was almost completely made up from girls. And not to mention, your mom, and Octavia, obviously both girls, so if it is a boy, I owe you an apology." Rose said, half-kidding.
The second the arrow flew over her nose, nearly hitting her, Rose wasted no time lifting her right leg up so that she could reach the gun concealed in her boot. Rose quickly cocked it, prepared to shoot. After Bellamy began to fire, he had given her directions. The cave. Rose needed to get to the cave as fast as she could in her pregnant state.
As Bellamy began ushering her with his hand on her back, she increased her pace. Rose glanced back at Bellamy, biting her bottom lip. Was he coming, or not? She continued to the entrance of the cave, before looking to him. "Bellamy, come on!" Rose exclaimed with a sense of urgency. She then moved into the black of the small cave, out of site, and picked up two rocks, two dry rocks, luckily for her.
With the wall for support, Rose managed to sit down and rub the two rocks together, after a few seconds creating sparks, and then a small fire. She sighed, trying to catch her breath. Rose couldn't deny that she was moved by Bell's actions to keep her and the baby safe. They shared something, not just a baby, but a sort of connection, an emotional tie, and Rose knew that the baby, whatever it was, girl or boy, had helped immensely.
Rose remembered when she had first told him that she was pregnant. He had taken it well, better than Rose would have expected from any guy. But to be honest, Bellamy Blake wasn't just 'any guy.' He was special. Not only strong, caring, compassionate, brave, daring, and protective, he was strong, Bellamy was smart, and it helped that he was smoking hot. All of the reasons are what drew Rose to Bellamy in the first place. And now she was pregnant with his kid. Suddenly, in her relaxed state, Rose sucked in a sharp breath as she felt water run down her leg. "Oh hell no! You are not coming out right now!" Rose ordered urgently. "Bellamy! My water broke!"

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Hearing her call out to him, he promptly followed, not about to hide her somewhere by herself. While it worked in some situations to draw the group of attackers elsewhere, it would be stupid to do so in this case. While he didn't doubt her capabilities, she was pregnant. So it was not only her that he was determined to protect, but also their unborn child. Once he got inside the cave, Bellamy remained by the entrance, ensuring that the Grounders either went a different direction or would pass this. When he felt like the coast was clear enough, he noticed some smoke start to fill the cave.
"Not yet," he instructed her, fearing that the smoke would attract the grounders. He could certainly find other ways to keep her warm. But before any other thought could enter his mind, something changed. The expression on her face and then the words that came after. Her water broke. Timing. What damn timing! Bellamy knew that panicking right now would not do any good. Undoubtedly the stress from their near attack and the flying arrows had served as a catalyst. Of all times for it to happen.
But it would be alright. He had assisted his mother in birthing Octavia and she had been an illegal second child . .. he only being six years old. They would get through this. Stepping away from the cave entrance he remained stoic, calm, composed. Anything else would only spark further panic and he was well aware -- obviously not from his own experience -- that child birth was already an extremely difficult experience for women to undergo. "Alright," he began to say, his tone reflective of his demanor.
Though inside, within his heart, he couldn't help but feel fear and panic. He had hoped they would be at camp so she would get proper medical assistance. He could not bare even the thought of losing either of them. Setting his gun down, he crouched by his pack and started to pull out a few things. He pulled off his jacket and buncheed it, setting it against the cave wall to serve as a pillow. "Lie against this," he told her calmly, as he proceeded to pull out other various tools. Sheets, one of which he spread out on the ground for her to lie on, water to ensure she remained hydrated, and he had a small blade tucked into his boot to cut the chord. He moved close to her to help her get situated. "Just stay calm. Deep breaths," he told her, showing her to make them.
