my daughter MY RESPONSIBILITY The fact that they had arrived alive on Earth was the first relief. He had been so fearful that his daughter may not survive the landing. They had already lost two delinquents by the time they hit the ground. And as expected, it was chaos. What else was to be expected when sending down a group of teenagers who had been locked up in the Sky Box? There was no order. No organization. And they were no where near Mount Weather. There was one among the group who wanted to head there right away, but Bellamy did not think it wise. There was still too much about the area they didn't know. They had to fortify themselves, they had to equip themselves, properly prepare. They needed to gather food and make sure there was enough for at least a few days, and to take with them on the trek.
But a few headed out regardless, and Bellamy decided to stay with the group. His natural leadership -- something he gained from his father -- was coming through, though knew he had to be smart about this. The kids weren't going to listen to him so qucikly. They didn't want to be lead by a member of the Guard. Wells unfortuantely was even a bigger target and had gotten injured during a fight -- which kept him here at camp. While Bellamy wanted to help the others, his first priority was his daughter. She was already asking for her mom and Amaren and he didn't know what to say. He decided to take her for a walk, not far from camp but away from the noise and . . . other things that the delinquents were already doing.
It was night, and he wished to find a peaceful place for his daughter. She suddenly squealed with excitement and Bellamy had to turn his head to see what it was. The sight left him in a slight state of awe as well. A butterfly. A glowing butterfly. He set Arria down as her small arms flailed in the air, trying to chase after it. A small smile formed on Bellamy's lips. He needed any distraction he could find to keep him from dwelling in the pain of not seeing his wife or son. He followed her hurried steps until they got to a small clearing, surrounded with butterflies. Arria stood with her arms out as one of them touched her shoulders. Bellamy wanted to shoo it away, but it wasn't doing any harm, and the jovial laughter from his daughter that filled the air . . . certainly made it worth it.

Roma saw him leave camp with his daughter, and she pushed up to follow him. She knew who he was. She had once hit on him at a party, but he had told her he was with someone, and she'd moved on. Apparently it had been a good thing. He had kids! As in more then one! She didn't even want one! Much less two.
Still, as she stood back and watched him watching his daughter, Roma thought he was really hot. There was bets on how long the upper class would last down here, but she also knew he had the weapons, and that the Ark would come down for their golden boy. Maybe if she stayed close to him, then she could make sure she was alright. Roma took another step closer and a stick broke under her foot, which caused her to freeze and hold up her hands. "It's just me." She told him, walking closer and then looking around. "This place is very beautiful." And it was! The glowed blue, and beautiful, and bright. The butterflies coated the trees, and made them look blue too. "What are they?" She failed Earth Skills. She had no idea.

my daughter MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy immediately was distraction from watching his daughter when he heard someone approach, the cracking of the stick enough to capture his attention. He looked at the direction of the woman, not knowing her name, but recognized her face. Obviously. She was one of the delinquents. Bellamy imagined he would eventually have to learn everyone's names, but not right now. To assert any authority this soon would just be unwise. The delinquents didn't want someone telling them what to do -- especially the Vice Chancellor's son.
But nor could Bellamy allow ones like that Murphy kid to have any control. If they were going to survive they needed some sort of order. But that would come later. Right now, Bellamy just wanted to be with his daughter, make sure she was alright . . . for he knew that the butterflies were only a temporary distraction. Soon enough, she would be asking for her mom and Amaren again. He eased a little when she said that it was just her, and that this place was beautiful. She then asked that they were.
"Butterflies," he answered simply. "The bioluminescence makes them glow like that," he further elaborated. He watched Arria as she suddenly hurried toward the woman, causing Bellamy to casually follow behind her, unsure how a delinquent felt about a child. Arria held up her tiny little arm where a butterfly was comfortably resting on it. "They're harmless," he added on, an ever so slight smirk on his face. "So is she," he stated in a bit of a joking tone, though he meant it, because well, his daughter was of course harmless.

"Butterflies," He told her and Roma looked back out at them, until he spoke again; in which then she looked back at him. "The bioluminescence makes them glow like that," She didn't know what that meant, but she assumed it was because she didn't care about the why, as much as if they were going to be something else that killed them too. "They're harmless," Harmless. Unlike everything else in this hated place. "So is she," He joked, and Roma finally smiled, and walked closer.
She stopped when coming to stand next time him, looking up at him for a long moment before looking back at the little girl. "Their pretty . . . both of them." How could something so small last here? Roma didn't think she'd survive long, but she wasn't going to say so out loud. No one--especially her--wanted to see a little kid hurt. They weren't that much of ass holes. She didn't know how long the privileged would last, but the kid was someone that no one would move to hurt. "Why did you bring her here?" Some of them had guessed by now, that the son of Marcus Kane was sneaking his second child down here--but she wanted to know for sure. She had assumed his father could pull some sort of pardon out of his ass for his son. Then again Jaha's son was down here too.

my daughter MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy noticed the delinquent's expression relax a little as she neared them. He looked at his daughter who found no unnease in the unfamiliar woman. Then again, she was a rather friendly child. Bellamy gave an ever so slight nod of acknowledgment when the woman complimented his daughter. He was all too eager to agree. She was indeed beautiful. She very much took after her mother in that way. The young woman then asked a question; one that Bellamy had never been asked nor had to answer before.
Until now. Why had he brought her here. It was a completely valid question, and was aware that it would only be a matter of time before people figured it out. There was no longer any harm in revealing the truth, even if it felt so unfamiliar to say. "So that she has a chance to live." Not just survive, as they were doing on the Ark. It was on its last legs, and Bellamy could only pray that they could make it down here safely, or at least find a way to fix it until they could guarantee safe passage. But this project of sending down the juvenile prisoners basically confirmed the fact that there was no way to save the Ark.
"She's my second child," Bellamy finally confessed. His eyes watched the woman intently. Maybe in revealing this truth, he could get her help. She didn't seem like the violent type, and she had wandered away from the others for a reason. Perhaps there could be some benefit in telling her this . . . if only to help each other out. Bellamy was not trusting of the others here -- except for Wells -- but for his daughter's sake, he needed to surround himself by people who could help her. Should something happen to him, he couldn't leave her without the proper supports. And whatever support he could find in a very select few of the others, he would need to.

"So that she has a chance to live." He told her, and Roma's brows bent together. While it was a look of slight confusion, the emotion did not come from this words but the explanation it'self. They had all already assumed the only reason he'd risk it was because he was hiding the child from the Ark, but with him being one of the highest of the highs, she figured they'd pardon about anything--especially when it was one of their own. "She's my second child," He admitted, and Roma felt the surprise from just hearing the words. No one had second children. It was one of the more forbidden things, and even if it wasn't, who could spare the food? No one. Food was so rare that sometimes everyone went hungry. They farmed what they could, but if things didn't grow, then they didn't grow. She was from farming, she had seen too many people get floated for stealing the food they grew. There wasn't a gain unaccounted for her, and no one could just have extra without anyone finding out. At least no one from her class.
He was watching, waiting for a reaction and it made her uncomfortable. Why was he watching her like that? Did he think she was going to run tell someone? Roma shifted her weight under the gaze, and it made her react more vocally then before. "But you'r Marcus Kane's son. Didn't he care?" She asked, her voice was soft, but the tone a cocktail of sarcasm and bitter. She knew they didn't care about then, but now they were kicking out their own. Jaha's son was here! Abby Griffin's daughter! Marcus Kane's son! They were collecting councilmember's kids! "Guess not if he let his own grandkid come here to die with us." She didn't make it sound accusing, so much as a fact of life. She knew she was talking to his son, but the council had sent her to die over a dress. They had sent their own children too, for shit crimes that didn't hurt anyone! What had that Wells guy did? Hurt a tree? She could see the murder's but she would have been pardoned! Now she was trapped down here with grounders trying to kill them. When she asked her last question, the sarcasm was gone and it was almost afraid. "Do you really think any of us have a chance here? Will they really just not care about what we did when they--if they--come down too?"

my daughter MY RESPONSIBILITY Did Marcus Kane care. It was a difficult question and yet an easy one at the same time. Yes. He knew his father cared. He knew that it was the father and grandfather in Marcus Kane that made him care, but the councilman in him that made it impossible to act upon it. His father was respected because of his level head; his ability to remain objective. Even when discovering Bellamy's daughter, his father did not immediately report it. But Bellamy had known that it would only be a matter of time before she was discovered.
Which was what had brought him down here. Even still, he felt the need to defend his father, at least subtly. "It's not about caring," he stated. "It's about doing what he and the others had to do." He may not always agree with his father, but he respected him tremendously. Which was why he felt the need to correct her assumption. "He didn't know." Bellamy knew there was no need to keep this a secret. The only one who held knowledge of him coming down here was Braeden. And that was for very obvious reasons. Well, obvious to him and her of course. Bellamy was relieved for Roma's next question, though it did bring forth a grim subject. It was just easier to discuss that, rather than his father.
"If people stop acting like idiots, then yeah." It was only half a joke. He could understand the appeal, but he had also seen a few already get violent towards each other, particularly Wells. "The key to survival is working together." Being a cohesive unit. "But the others aren't ready to hear that just yet." Bellamy wasn't an idiot nor naive. The delinquents wanted that freedom, not to be tied down by authority. They would realize soon enough that they needed direction, and Bellamy intended to slowly integrate himself into that position. "What's your name?" He finally inquired, his eyes resting on his daughter who was still giggling over the butterflies.
