When Octavia told him the news of her pregnancy Wells felt a lot of things. Shock, obviously as they certainly hadn’t planned for this. Joy, because ultimately he loved her and the thought of having a child with her filled him with so much happiness. And then after the overwhelming nature of their discussion passed, fear settled in. And it wasn’t just fear about the responsibility being a new father would bring, or even fear of his father, the chancellor’s reaction. It was fear of Bellamy Blake, Octavia’s guardian's, reaction. Wells knew that Bellamy was good with a gun and just prayed he wouldn’t have one on him now.
Wells felt sick to his stomach as he went to seek him out. Just like Octavia would probably be feeling soon. This wasn’t going to be an easy conversation and he hoped it wouldn’t turn into a physical altercation which was actually a very strong possibility. He finally found him just finishing his shift on guard duty and jogged up to meet him. Oh god, this was happening. “Bellamy,” he called just before he reached him, Wells’ eyes immediately darting to the weapon currently holstered at Bellamy’s hip. Damn. “I need to talk to you,” he said, obviously physically agitated. “Could we go somewhere private?” So he could have the freedom to react any way he pleased. On second thought that actually might be a very bad idea. Maybe he should have suggested an extremely public place, for his life’s sake.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy was currently finishing up his shift and intended to go home after. It had been a long day and with Octavia still at class around this time, it would be a quiet afternoon at home. That was what he had assumed until he heard a voice that made him pause. Even without seeing him, he could recognize the voice. Wells Jaha. Bellamy looked at him, the younger male saying that they needed to talk. Bellamy was no idiot. He knew that it was most likely about his sister. He did not like this. Hell, he didn't like them together. Wells was the Chancellor's son and he was getting too close. What if it came out that her entire backstory was fake? What if it was revealed that she was an illegal second child?
It was just too damn risky, and despite the lectures he'd given Octavia about it . . . ultimately, he couldn't control who she was with. But he damn well wasn't going to be happy about it. He looked at the son of the Chancellor, a slightly raised eyebrow though showed no other reaction. Not aversion, or happiness over conversing with him. "Come with me," he instructed as he began to lead him to their apartment. "Octavia has a class right now." The walk wasn't long, and Bellamy didn't want to waste a moment to get to the bottom of this. So as soon as they arrived, he punched in the code, and entered, waiting for Wells to do the same.
The fact that he had wanted this to be a private conversation gave him no peace of mind. It made him feel unneasy. Wait . . . was he about to say what Bellamy thought?! "You better not be thinking of doing something stupid, like proposing to her." That was the only thing that Bellamy could currently think of. He knew that Wells was the Chancellor's son but right now, to Bellamy, he was more the boy who was dating his sister. Even if Wells didn't exactly know that. Bellamy had made no secret of his protectiveness over Octavia. "Cause if you are, the answer is no." Just plain, flat out, no.

Wells followed Bellamy to his apartment, panic growing with every step. Oh god what if he killed him. Bellamy had been a constant presence in Wells and Octavia’s relationship. In fact come to think of it he’d been present for almost every important moment. Their first meeting, first date, he was even present somewhere in the background of their first kiss. Always the same disapproving look on his face with his arms crossed over his chest. Needless to say he was…protective. Wells had always tried to communicate that he wasn’t a threat; that Bellamy didn’t have to worry about him. But it never worked and he’d given up trying. Getting Octavia pregnant certainly wasn’t going to help matters. At least that was one moment Bellamy hadn’t been present for. Wells shuddered at the thought.
He had absolutely no idea how he was going to tell him. What was the best way to break the news so he wouldn’t get shot? Walking past him into the room, Wells very discreetly picked the gun out of Bellamy’s holster and tucked into his own pants in one smooth motion without being detected, and turned to face the other man. It was just a security measure, but he did value his life after all. Who knew how Bellamy would react? Fortunately, Bellamy spoke. About…proposing? “Cause if you are, the answer is no.” Seeing his obvious aversion to that idea worried Wells. What was he supposed to say? Oh no don’t worry I’m not proposing, I just got her pregnant that’s all. Yeah should be fine.
“No, I’m not proposing.” Now. But he hoped to see that in their future. Wonderful that Bellamy was on board. “What I’m about to tell you may be a bit of a shock.” Understatement of the century but he went with it. “Octavia wanted to tell you, but I thought it might be better if I told you myself.” Wells wasn’t going to hide behind her. He’d face him like a man. “Nothing’s wrong. But I need you to stay…calm.” He only just realised that he’d slowly been stepping away from the other man, his hands raised very slightly in defence.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT He wasn't proposing. Bellamy couldn't feel any relief in that assurance because wel, there was obviously something. Wells then spoke of how it was a bit of a shock, that he wanted to be the one to tell him rather than Octavia . . . that he needed him to stay calm. None of this soudned good, and it only made Bellamy's gaze upon Wells become more intent, and serious. He didn't like where this was going, and there was an unsettling feeling in his gut. He also noticed Wells backing away a little, which prompted Bellamy to step forward, not about to let Jaha Junior get too far from him.
"What the hell did you do?" He demanded. Wherever this was going, he didn't like the direction of it . . . and knew he'd like the revelation even less, just by the way the kid was talking. Right now, he was not the son of the Chancellor. Not to Bellamy. He was the guy who was dating his sister -- a relationship that Bellamy very strongly disapproved of. Not that he made any secret of that. "Spit it out," he further ordered. He needed the him to say it. He needed to know what exactly had happened so that he could either fix it, or beat the shit out of him for it. He wasn't promising to stay calm. He didn't care what Wells needed from him. Right now . . . he just cared about hearing the truth. The reason for this, and for Wells evident nervousness.

"What the hell did you do?" Ah yes, the older man sounded very calm indeed. This was a bad idea. Wells at least felt safe in the knowledge that Bellamy was no longer armed. But that wasn’t going to stop the guard from killing him with his bare hands. Which judging by his tone sounded like a fair possibility. All the courage he had previously mustered in coming to tell Bellamy the news was slowly fading away. He had the sudden instinct to run, but it was too late now.
"Spit it out." Wells eyes widened. It was the moment of truth. “Okay….okay so…” He rubbed his hands together, fidgeting in place and trying to figure out the best way to phrase it. It was a delicate subject after all. I got Octavia pregnant, ha, bye. No, that wasn’t going to work. “As you know, Octavia and I have been together for some time now.” Good start, Wells, good start. “And well,” He paused for a moment. “One thing led to another.” Oh god did he really just say that? Bellamy obviously didn’t need the details. “She’s pregnant.” There. He finally said it. No more awkwardly dancing around the subject. For that moment at least, Wells felt an enormous weight lift off his shoulder. Only to be replaced by the fear of his probable imminent death. Taking another precautionary step back, Wells awaited the shitstorm that was about to ensue.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Together for some time. That, was not something Bellamy liked to think about. And yet it was all he could think about. The fact that his baby sister was in a . . . relationship with the Chancellor's son. He didn't know Wells. But he knew of his position. And the closer she got to the family, the more danger it would put her in. But it was obviously for other reasons to. Including one that Wells spoke about of how one thing led to another. He . . . definitely didn't want to think about that. He face remained unchanged though, even when he spoke two words that Bellamy could have sworn made his heart skip a beat from shock. Pregnant. She. Was. Pregnant. Wells had gotten her pregnant. Words could not describe the surge of emotions that coursed through the older Blake sibling.
He couldn't define them, and they were so strong to the point of numbing his body if only for a few moments. His mind hadn't even fully processed the information before he reacted. Wells had taken a step back, but Bellamy wasn't about to let him go far. Now it all made sense. The fear in his eyes, the hesitation to explain. But none of that mattered. He had no compassion for the boy. Only anger. Raging anger. One that did not even show on his face.
He was unnervingly calm, but it lasted a very short time. For soon enough, he charged at the boy. His hand fisted and he struck it across Well's jaw with as much force as a punch could hold. And that was not all. "You son of a bitch!" His voice was not a yell, but it was filled with anger. He struck him again, and again, before grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and shoving him against the wall, gripping him so that he could not move. "You son of a bitch!" He repeated. He not only had sex with his sister, but he had gotten her pregnant. PREGNANT. The bastard! He didn't even care that this was the Chancellor's son. All he could see him as was the guy who impregnated his sister.

There was a moment of calm. Like being in the eye of a storm. But Wells couldn’t mistake that look of intense anger growing in the other man’s eyes. It freaked him out a little. But of course that didn’t last forever as all hell broke loose. Now, Wells had expected a reaction, but the ferocity of which did come as a bit of a shock. Bellamy came at him so suddenly, the force pushed him back. It would’ve been comical had he not been on the receiving end of essentially getting his ass kicked. And what was worse? The man had a hell of a right hook. He could’ve sworn his jaw was very nearly dislocated. But before Wells even had time to react, Bellamy came at him again…and again…and again. Shoving him against the wall, Wells finally came to his senses, tasting blood in his mouth. Bellamy wasn’t yelling but his tone was still as angry and intense, maybe even more so. It was so weird.
Wells pushed back at Bellamy, hard, managing to get free of his death grip. But didn’t attack. Taking a defensive stance instead. And staying consciously aware of the gun stuffed down his pants. He thanked every higher being possible that he’d had the sense to swipe it from Bellamy’s holster. “Wait!” He yelled. Before the other man tried to beat him up again. “Give me a second! Please!” Holding his arms up defensively, Wells voice was clearly raised and panicked. He unfortunately had not quite mastered the weird skill of being menacing and quite at the same time. Circling around the room, he trying to avoid him. Wells really didn’t want to fight but he would if he had to, now that he was more prepared. But this really wasn’t how he wanted it to go down. “Just let me explain.”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT When Wells pushed Bellamy, the guardsman was pushed back enough for Jaha Junior to wiggle free from his grasp. But Bellamy was far from done displaying his physical aggression toward the younger male. He was unfuriated. This was his baby sister! She had just started to come out into society and now she was pregnant. How the hell was this going to work?! What if they looked into her past and figured out that it was feigned?! She and her baby would get floated.
The fear was what prompted the anger. What fueled it. Did Wells know? It was a question that Bellamy himeslf could not ask. But he sure as hell would be asking his sister later. That conversation while not filled with a beating, was not going to be timid either. Wells was like a worm in Bellamy's eyes, moving away from his hold despite the Blake's puffed chest, heaving with rage at the one who defiled his sister. He was circling around the room. Little bastard was fast, Bellamy would give him that. But he was so far from done. Bellamy started to move forward, a table between them. Instead of stepping around it, the guardsman grabbed the edge of it and tossed it to the side, clearing the path between them but Wells moved out of reach yet again. Bellamy just turned to face him, his hands clenched so tightly that his blood stained knuckles were turning white. Wells was asking for a chance to explain.
"What? About how you got an underage girl pregnant?!" Even in his highly placed anger . . . he did not let it slip that Octavia was his sister. That was a secret he would take to the grave. As far as everyone knew . . . Bellamy was her guardian. Yet, the question still became whether Wells knew the truth or not. He didn't know which was worse. "Your second is up." His voice still held that raging tone without raised volume. It was odd, to be so angry that he couldn't even yell. "You better have one hell of an explanation." It better be good. And yet, Bellamy in his irrational and emotional state . . . doubted Wells could offer up any explanation that would help deflate his anger.

Wells used the time he was given to think of something. And it had to be good. There was nowhere left for the young Jaha to run now. This was going to turn into a hell of a fight otherwise, and a bloody one at that. The adrenaline pumping through his body was numbing him to the pain of the cuts and bruises already forming on his face. But that wouldn’t last long either. He held his hands up, hoping to convey his wish to end any violence Bellamy had in mind. And judging by his stance and just general demeanour, he looked like he wanted to strangle Wells.
“Look, I get it, okay. I get why you’re angry. You have every right to be.” It was why Wells didn’t want to fight him, and risk injuring the guard in any way. “We didn’t exactly plan for this to happen. But it happened.” His expression was pleading, hoping that Bellamy would understand or at least calm down. Wells was trying to use the honesty in his words to appeal to the guard. “I’m scared out of my mind, but I love her okay?” He paused, letting the words sink in. “I. Love. Octavia. And I will never let anything bad happen to her.” He finally took a breath, after saying his piece, maybe rushing out the words in his haste to not get his ass kicked...again. Wells had barely allowed the news of her pregnancy to sink in, fear building every time he thought about it. But his love for her was one thing he didn’t doubt for a second. “You have my word.” No harm would come to her, not under his watch.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Damn straight he was angry and had every right to be! Bellamy didn't know how to handle this situation. This was the damn Chancellor's son! What if Jaha didn't want his son to be a father. What if he forced Octavia to get rid of it? He held that kind of power, that sort of authority. What if he used it against Octavia? Hell, he could float her as well for all Bellamy knew. He didn't trust the authorities here. He didn't trust anyone . . . other than his sister. Which was why he was terrified of losing her. And why now, there was an even greater risk about her true position coming out: that she was an illegal second child.
What then? What would happen to the baby? He could not lose Octavia over her and Wells sexed up times. Wells then stated that he loved her, that he was scared but he loved her . . . and gave him his word about it. If Wells was in close enough proximity, Bellamy would have punched him again. "You don't know a damn thing about love." Bellamy loved his sister. And that love was ironically, what prompted him to reject Wells' suggestion of his own for her. "I don't give a shit if you're scared. This happened because you couldn't keep it in your pants. What the hell were you thinking?!" He had no sympathy for him. His anger was too strong right now.
"You think you can protect her? You don't know the first thing about it." His father could do whatever the hell he wanted. Bellamy had protected Octavia her entire life. She was the center of his world. And now . . . he could lose her. Bellamy's anger was still very strong, but no longer violent. He still however kept that distance between them. "Who else knows?" He demanded. Did Thelonious know? Did Doctor Griffin know? Bellamy was fuming. Getting rid of the kid would not be an option they were willingly going to do . . . so Bellamy was fully aware that he would have to go with them to Thelonious of the Chancellor didn't' already know. And if he did, then Bellamy needed to speak to him to find out what his stance on this was.

Wells clenched his jaw at Bellamy’s harsh words. It wasn’t anything he didn’t expect to hear but that didn’t make the words hurt any less or his reaction any less disappointing. He didn’t know a thing about love? Bellamy crossed a line with that. It wasn’t true. Wells did know what love felt like. His love for Octavia was the only thing he was certain of in this world and nothing Bellamy could say would take that away from him; from them. Of course he would protect her. The situation certainly wasn’t ideal, but this was the card they’d been dealt. Wells was terrified but he wasn’t stupid, no matter what, Octavia would be safe.
“You’re wrong,” he said in a low voice, his hands balled up into fists. It was the first time he’d properly stood up to Bellamy throughout the entire altercation. “I may be terrified but Octavia loves me and nothing you can say or do will change that.” And he loved her, as he’d said not a moment before. “We’re having this kid, my kid, and that means no one is going to lay a finger on her.” It was time they got past this. His father was strict but he wasn’t heartless. He wouldn’t harm his own son, or his own grandchild. So if Bellamy wasn’t going to be on board, then they’d raise the kid themselves. "Who else knows?" This was their secret but it couldn’t stay that way for long. “No one, just me, Octavia and now you.” They’d stolen a pregnancy test to confirm it. “I just…I thought you had a right to know first. Before we tell my father.” Now that, was going to be a hell of a conversation.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy could see the way his words had visibly effect Wells. But he was far from sorry about it. He meant every part of it. Wells had no idea what his supposed love was doing to Octavia; what it jeapordized. Her very life! Bellamy had done all he could to help them blend in with the Ark; to make sure that there was no special attention placed on either of them. And now, this. She had started dating the Chancellor's son, and was now pregnant with his child. This threatened in her ways that Bellamy doubted Wells knew. Unless of course he was fully aware of the fact Octavia was a second child. But judging from this conversation . . . he doubted it.
"Let's get something straight, Cassanova," Bellamy began to say, his words sarcastic of course in reference to the Cassanova figure. "Don't stand there and tell me about love when you got Octavia and yourself in this situation. If you loved her, you wouldn't have been such a damn, naive idiot." Which he was still being. "Secondly, you're not going to your father without me there. Like hell I trust you to tell him about this." His words weren't raised, but they were bluntly stated, returning the dead pan gaze on Wells. "I don't trust you with Octavia." His fierce over protectiveness making him . . . well, wary of anyone who threatened her. He didn't trust anyone else. So he was going to be there to deliver the news with them. "Third, don't get any ideas about her moving out." He was saying that clear cut, right now. She was not leaving this apartment to move in with him. "She stays here, with me." And that was all there was to it.
