Aden went willingly to meet with the blacksmith who was apparently tasked with making him and the rest of his Natblida siblings new weapons that better fit them. He didn't completely understand the necessity of the task as the weapons they could already access had been working for him to a satisfactory degree so far. Attendance was compulsory though and thus, remaining within the familiarity of the tower had not been offered as an option to the young nightblood boy. Still, it was nice to see a little more of Polis beyond the tower walls, opportunity didn't come often enough to explore the world beyond confines of their tower home. Security was taken extremely seriously when it came to the Natblida youngsters.
Standing within the ranks of his peers, he watched the man in front of them with vague curiosity. This man had been tasked with the crafting of their weapons, so Aden knew that he must possess a great deal of skill- otherwise he would not have been entrusted with such a sensitive job. To have been deemed talented enough by their Heda for such a responsibility, Aden came to the conclusion that he must treat the man with the respect that he obviously deserved.
"Little man" the unfamiliar voice took a second for the boy to recognise and then a moment longer for him to realise that the blacksmith was talking to him. He opened his mouth as if to say something before promptly closing it again, at a loss for words- but he couldn't figure out if the man was being deliberately disrespectful or if it was just his usual manner to talk to people in that way without so much as asking fo their name first. "What weapon you use?" the man spoke again and Aden straightened his posture- perhaps in an effort to look taller than he had previously.
Before he had the chance to answer though, the man had already grabbed his hand and tracing a finger along his palm muttered the word "sword". Aden didn't know what to make of the man, the behaviour was not like any he'd experienced before, most who met him were usually automatically meek and respectful, knowing that was what was expected of them. Still, he was intrigued by the blacksmiths method and how he seemed to now such an answer when as of yet Aden had been unable to get a word out to address him with.
"How did you know that?" the boy asked, a question but not a demand- his voice quiet and searching, fuelled by curiosity and hungry for answers. Realising that the man still held his hand, Aden slowly pulled it from his grasp, finding the contact slightly uncomfortable from someone whom he had no prior experience. "Did someone tell you that?" he was disbelieving, but then what was he supposed to think? He'd never seen someone match a weapon to a warrior before simply by looking at them. This man was odd, there was no doubt about that but he also apparently possessed great knowledge and understanding for weapons and if Lexa trusted him with the nightbloods, then he trusted that they weren't in any danger- even if he was
a little peculiar.

The young man rolled his eyes at her response "expected? Since when are you expected?" she was always dropping by uninvited, he should've been used to it by now but maybe he'd never really become accustomed to it. "Knock next time, unless you want to risk seeing something you really don't want to see!" he could've been naked when she'd barged in like that and that would be something that he'd never recover from. He didn't enter her room without asking, he expected the same from her- unfortunately he doubted that she'd extend that courtesy.
At her question, glanced down at the balls of paper that he held, those that he'd been so eager to gather up and keep from her. "Nothing!" he protested too quickly "I mean- shouldn't I be asking you that? You're the one standing in my room" he wanted to add without an invitation but perhaps that would be rude to speak to his friend in such a manner. "Why are you here anyway? I'm assuming you wanted something?" he questioned, placing the balls of paper carefully on his desk before turning his attention back to his uninvited guest. Madi

The moment Cert opened his mouth, Aden decided that he didn't like the man- or at least, he didn't like his attitude. It was as if the whole situation didn't bother him, as if nothing had happened at all. "A man is dead!" he hissed, unable to comprehend how Cert didn't see how important that was. "Polis isn't safe for outsiders and that's what many here deem Floukru!" he didn't know if anything he said would get through to Cert, from what he'd heard so far, the man didn't care for the lives of others. The situation was serious, there would be consequences as the crime had been committed in a rather public setting, consequences that would only affect him as he was the one who'd committed the crime. Turning away from Cert, Aden tried to think but all he really wanted to do was yell at the man for his foolishness and reckless endangerment of his own life. "Heda's going to kill me" he muttered to himself as he thought of the audience he'd have once news of his actions reached those that expected better from him. Turning back to Cert, he pulled the hood from his head once again and fixed the older man with a glare "You have no idea what position you've put me in!" he told him, the man's casual attitude angering him. He was starting to believe that it would have been better for him to have left him to get attacked by that man, allowing them to fight it out amongst themselves would be less stressful for him at least. Random Number Generator Chose: 19.Writing a love letter. Crushes sucked. Aden had learnt that in recent days, he hated the way that his heart seemed to work itself up into a frenzy whenever he saw her and he hated that he seemed to lose all words to tell her how he felt. He'd heard somewhere that writing down your feelings could help and that was what he'd been attempting to do for the past hour. However, every time he thought of something and wrote it down, it looked dumb on paper. He intended to pass it onto his crush... Maybe, if he got it right and had the guts to do so- right now he had nothing. Scrawling out a couple lines in his extremely messy handwriting, the boy let out a frustrated groan before scrunching the page up and throwing it into the corner to join the dozen other failed attempts.
"Why are words hard?" he muttered to himself, staring once again at an empty page and willing the right words to come and write themselves on the paper. The door opening behind him caused the boy to flinch, practically falling out of his chair as he tried to see who had entered the room. It just so happened that it was the last person he wanted to see at that moment "do you ever knock?!" he demanded, heart racing as he attempted to gather up the discarded balls of paper before they could fall into the wrong hands. Aden ignored the man's questions, focussing on the destination he was heading, he ducked into a narrow alley and came to a halt at a doorway. There wasn't a door, just a shaggy curtain to conceal the room within and Aden glanced around cautiously before he shoved the man inside the dilapidated building. "Could you be more stupid?" Aden demanded as he entered the building after the man, glaring at him, baffled by his foolishness. "You were almost killed!" the words prompted Aden to look down at his hands, they were coated in the blood of the man he'd just killed. Swallowing hard, the boy attempted to wipe the blood off on his clothes, but it seemed to stain his skin red, marking him as a murderer. "If I hadn't been there, you would have been!" his hand had been forced and he wasn't happy about it. He'd killed someone, taken their life before he'd even realised what he was doing because it was what he was trained to do.
"It doesn't matter who I am" the boy retorted, returning to the man's earlier question "who are you? And what are you doing here?" it was unusual to see anyone from Floukru inside Polis, probably because when they did venture near, something like this happened. "So is your life worth the life that I took to protect it?" he asked, he had no interest in being friendly to this man, not until he learnt more about him. "Or will you make me regret saving your life?" he could have blown everything by helping this man, he wasn't even supposed to be out without a guard- he'd be in a world of trouble when he returned home, it didn't even bear thinking about. Aden weaved his way through the crowds, hood pulled up over his face to conceal his identity in case anyone were to recognise him. Technically he wasn't supposed to be wandering around alone without a guard, but he'd learnt how to slip his guards long ago- sometimes he just wanted to be alone to be himself without having someone constantly watch him. He was well aware that people would be looking for him by now, which is why he was trying to keep a low profile. However, he'd noticed someone who wasn't going as unnoticed as he was, the man was wearing clothing typical of Floukru and was attracting more than a few unfriendly stares. It was enough to concern Aden, he'd heard that many weren't too welcoming of Floukru and he wondered why the man had come to polis and strayed so far from his home. It took only a moment for Aden to change direction and follow him, deciding that it was his responsibility to ensure that the man didn't find trouble for himself.
They hadn't gone far before Aden realised that there was someone else following the man. It concerned the boy and he decided to keep a close eye on the situation, distrustful of anyone who might be following them, especially considering the hostility that he'd observed from other market goers aimed towards the Floukru man. The Natblida made sure that he never fell too far behind the two men, tailing them as they weaved through the marketplace. As his gaze travelled down to look at the pursuer's hands, he caught a glimpse of a blade partially concealed by his sleeve- the next second the man was lunging for Floukru man, blade ready to spill blood. Aden's reaction was immediate, driven mostly by pure instinct as he pulled his own knife from his belt and dove forward.
He drove his blade deep into the mans gut, forcing it hilt deep until something stopped it, heart racing, Aden felt the hood slip from his head as he looked up into the mans face. Blood bubbled from his lips, indicating the damage that the blade had inflicted and the boy lurched backwards, leaving the knife behind, embedded in the dying mans body. Stumbling backwards, Aden pulled his hood up again, once again concealing his face before he turned and ran "come on!" he called to the Floukru man, grabbing his wrist as he ran past him, dragging him behind him "this way!"

Aden didn’t know what he’d do if the skaikru boy didn’t agree to come with him, he didn’t see how it was even remotely right to leave an injured child out in the forest alone when he would have no chance of survival out there alone. They were around the same age, but Aden already felt a great responsibility to protect Hunter, he had found him and offered him help and now he would be unable to walk away with the knowledge that by doing so he’d be sealing the other boys fate. Aden had never met anyone from skaikru before, he wondered if they were all so infuriatingly stubborn. He just hoped that if Hunter did agree to go with him, that he would be a little more respectful and not make wild assumptions about his people based on things that he’d heard about them, because others might not be as forgiving as he was.
When Hunter raised his good arm apologetically, Aden relaxed a little as it looked like Hunter would be coming with him after all. “ Probably right?” the boy questioned, a smile appearing on his face when he realised that he wouldn’t have to drag Hunter back to Polis kicking and screaming “there’s no probably about it”. If Hunter wanted to live then his only option was to return to Polis with him and Aden knew that the boys sudden change of heart meant that he’d probably realised that too.
Aden began to retreat back into the trees, in direction that he knew would lead him back home. He made sure to walk slowly, waiting for Hunter to start following but he stopped and turned back to face the other boy when he heard his question. “That depends on how fast you travel” he told him. He crossed his arms over his chest and began to study the other boy intently “From here, an hour… Maybe two at the pace you’re going” he teased him, gesturing to Hunter for him to hurry up. “A snail could move faster than you” he mumbled, running a hand through his hair nervously hoping that Hunter would see that he was joking and wouldn’t take offense to his teasing. It was reassuring for Aden to hear that the prince of Azgeda had felt the desire to run away from his duties before. At least he wasn’t alone in feeling that, he had to believe that it didn’t make him a bad person for wanting to flee from his responsibilities. Roan claimed that he’d stayed out of loyalty in the end, Aden thought that that was a good reason to stay. It was important to be there for people who needed you, Aden knew that much and he knew that he had a duty to stay for his conclave because he would have to be there to lead his people if the spirit of the commander chose him. Aden’s brow furrowed at Roan’s words, he figured they made sense but they went against everything that he’d been taught, by Titus and by Lexa. “Maybe to be commander, you must be prepared to give everything up for your people?” Aden answered him uncertainly. He had been taken to Polis when he was very young and since he’d arrived he’d always been taught that certain emotions were weaknesses that he could not afford to have. They were pieces of himself, but he’d had to cast them aside because his teachers taught him that they’d only hold him back and endanger his life more than it already was. “We know that our lives will be short, we accept it because it’s unavoidable…” the conclave would happen, it would take the lives of all but one of the natblidas and one would survive to lead the coalition. Aden didn’t like the idea of having to fight his siblings but it was what they were training for.
As Roan spoke, his words only confused Aden further “that makes sense” he admitted, it contradicted what he had been taught but he couldn’t deny that what the prince said made sense perfectly in his mind. “You’re saying that it would be better for our people if we didn’t give up parts of ourselves?” he asked Roan looking for clarification. He wasn’t sure if Titus would approve of the prince speaking to him in this way, putting different ideas in his head and making him believe that there was a better way to be a good leader that didn’t mean he’d have to give up on the parts of him that made him himself, but Aden knew that Roan’s words made sense. That was enough to plant a seed of doubt in his mind about whether he and his natblida siblings were being taught in the best way.ash

Aden was confused about why Hunter had chosen to run away from his village, there had always been safety in numbers and a child couldn’t be trusted to look after themselves, it was dangerous to be alone in the forest. Hunter didn’t trust him and Aden could understand why, they didn’t know each other but it also meant that unless he earned his trust, Aden wouldn’t find out much else from the boy. “There are a lot worse things out there than the people you’ve been told of… Unless you want to find out what they are it’d be smart to come with me” Aden warned him, knowing that if he didn’t at least warn Hunter then he’d probably fall prey to a predator. Of course the people of the twelve clans were to obey the truce that was in place but nomads had no obligation to leave a young skaikru boy alone, especially if they saw that he was injured and with no one watching over him.
He glared at Hunter as the boy laughed “my people will respect the ceasefire” he answered him and wondered what sort of stories Hunter had been told about them. They must’ve been pretty bad to discourage him from trusting even an unarmed boy who offered to help him. “If I wanted to hurt you then I would have already done so, it would save me a lot of hassle and I wouldn’t have to try to explain you to anyone” but he wasn’t a murderer, he wouldn’t kill somebody who didn’t stand a chance of fighting back. Even if Hunter had two working arms, Aden still suspected that it wouldn’t be a fair fight. “If you’d rather, I’ll leave you out here… You’ll probably get eaten but better that than trust someone who just wants to help” Aden told him, shrugging as if it didn’t really bother him what the skaikru boy chose to do. Aden was a little taken aback by the boy's sudden outburst, he was obviously angry with his people and had mentioned something about an explosion that had taken the life of his mother and injured him. Aden had learnt something that he could use, the boy had mentioned that his name was Hunter and that he’d run away from his camp, anger had caused him to run from his people and Aden realised that Hunter probably didn’t understand how much danger he’d put himself in by doing so. “It’s nice to meet you, Hunter” Aden smiled at the other boy, trying to make it clear that he wasn’t going to hurt him, their people had been at war for a while and not everybody was that willing to obey the terms of the ceasefire. “You should not be out here alone, it’s dangerous and if you knew the land then you’d know this” many people travelled to and from Polis every day and not all of them were friendly, pleasant enough to their own people, but maybe not too welcoming of sky people. “You shouldn’t let your anger control your decisions, I’m sure your people will be worried about you once they realise that you are missing” He couldn’t imagine running away from Polis… Not with the intent of never returning that is. He’d often thought about it but he had a responsibility to remain there and train for his conclave, not to mention the dangers he’d face by leaving and the trouble he’d be in if he was discovered. Aden’s gaze went straight to the arm that the boy seemed to be cradling when he mentioned that he thought that it might be broken “we have skilled healers back in Polis, if you’d like I could take you there and they could look at your arm” he suggested, knowing that the boy might not be too keen to follow him into the capital, he knew that he wouldn’t really like being led into the skaikru village alone.
He was hoping that if the boy went with him and the healers helped to mend his arm, then he would have calmed down enough to be persuaded to go home. Or maybe transportation could be arranged for somebody to take him back to the skaikru village. He didn’t want skaikru to think that they’d taken one of their children, that would only lead to another war and that wouldn’t be good for anyone. “I thought I’d go for a walk” Aden answered Hunter’s question, trying his best to smile innocently at him, it was true… It just wasn’t the whole truth, he couldn’t exactly explain that he felt like a prisoner in his own home and was never given the freedom to explore as much as he wanted to. “We’re actually not that far from Polis, it’s quite a walk but it’s your arm that’s hurt and not your legs so you should be fine” Hunter Solomon
