ARE ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN
Things were changing. With the recent passing of the Emperor a new one had taken his place: Kiawah. He and Vero had grown close over the years; in fact, Vero was just returning from having met with him to give some news. One that elevated his rank from casual protector, to now General. It was of course an immense honor and a position that Vero accepted without a moment's hesitation. He forever swore to protect Kiawah, well before he was Emperor . . . even before his true identity was known to Vero.
Now, it would solidified through official rank. The first person that Vero wished to share this news with was of course his brother. And so he went to the training area to see if he was there, and fortunately, he was present. Vero watched him for a few moments as he trained with his opponent, taking in his brother's strengths and where there was room for improvement. He was proud of Aro, of who he had become and who he continued to grow into being. "Take a break, Aro," Vero finally spoke, taking a few steps toward him. "So you can catch your breath," he teased him, playfully suggesting that he was out of shape. Which, of course he was not. But what was a brother for if not to mock and tease the other.

| Kiawah; The Emperor. It was such a strange thing to Aro, to see someone who had always been such a dear friend to suddenly become their ruler in what felt like only a night. Everything had changed and Aro wondered how it would affect Vero. Aro was not a fool. Little could be hidden between brothers, especially ones that were so close and so fond of one another. Short of teasing, Aro never fully gave the secret, intimate relationship any words. It was a private thing that truly was not any of his buisness unless Kiawah hurt Vero in some way, but their relationship had never felt or seemed abusive. Of course, becoming the Emperor meant much would change. He'd been wanting to ask Vero how he was faring with the change in status, but it wasn't exactly a simple subject to broach. However when Vero wandered into the training pits, Aro couldn't help grinning at him. His opponent was a good match, but Aro was always eager to prove himself whenever Vero was around.
"Breath comes easy, brother" he laughed a little as he forced his spear into the dirt. He nodded at his sparing partner as he headed off for a break of his own. "You seem pleased," he noted as he wandered over to the bench where he'd left his belongings. He sat down and grabbed his waterskin and took a long drink, realizing he may have spoken a little prematurely. He was worn out.. it'd been a long day. "Have you met with our new Emperor?" his eyebrow arched as he grinned a little at the way it sounded. "It's all strange to think about." |

ARE ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN
Vero smiled as he watched his brother, approaching him and taking in his words. Once standing in front of him, Vero moved his hand to the back of Aro's head, giving it a bit of a ruffle before sitting down next to him, gently nudging his head with his hand still on it, before letting it fall to his side once more. "I have," he confirmed with a continued smile, one that turned into amusement when Aro spoke of how strange it was to think about. Vero had known at an early age of Kia's true identity. Something he'd been sworn to secrecy about. And for good reason too. "The clan could not hope for a better Emperor," he stated. He may be slightly bias, but he also knew that Kia was adored by the people already. His position well received.
"So you better stay in joken favor," Vero added, playfully elbowing his brother in the side, a teasing warning for he knew that Kia and Aro were friends. "We will get used to it soon enough," Vero told him. He had tried to grow accustomed to the idea since he found out . . . but at the same time, it was his position as Emperor that had prevented so much between them in regards to their relationship. Right now, Vero couldn't think on that. This was Kia's path and Vero's would be as it always was: as his protector. "Have you eaten?" Vero asked, looking to his brother and moving to a stand. He wanted to tell him when they were settled somewhere, when they were at ease. And in private. For he wanted Aro to be the first to hear of this news.
