Monty had been surprised when he'd heard that Bellamy was engaged, it wasn't something that he had expected. He was pleased for his friend and glad that he could be happy after everything that he'd been through and he had been through a lot. However, he couldn't help but feel concerned, he hadn't even met the man that Bellamy intended to marry, sure, he'd seen him around but he'd never actually spoken to him, all he knew was that he was some sort of doctor and his name was Jackson... If that even was his real name. Monty just didn't want to see Bellamy get hurt, he'd been hurt too many times, nobody else seemed to be worried about it and so Monty had taken it upon himself to learn more about Bellamy's fiancé and perhaps give him a few words of advice. A few friendly words of advice. He had to make sure that this man wasn't going to hurt Bellamy, the guy didn't deserve any more pain and Monty was going to make sure that Jackson was the right man for him and that he'd treat him the way he deserved to be treated.
Jackson was a doctor, so the first place Monty thought to look was in medical, that's where he assumed he'd be and it seemed as though his assumption was correct as he immediately spotted the older male in the almost empty room. Walking quickly towards the other man, Monty tried to look as confident as he could, standing up straight in an attempt to make himself look taller, although he wasn't sure that it was working. Reaching up to tap the older man on the shoulder, Monty cleared his throat in order to get his attention, as if physically touching him wasn't already enough. "Jackson, right?" he asked suspiciously, when the doctor turned around to look at him, he didn't trust him and he wasn't good enough for Bellamy... He didn't really think any guy would ever be good enough for Bellamy, but from the looks of this guy, he definitely didn't look like he had anything in common with Bellamy. "We need to talk... Right now and no... It can't wait" when he actually started talking to him, he didn't sound as confident as he wanted to, but Monty had bigger things to worry about than trying to sound intimidating, like protecting Bellamy from this man who could potentially break his heart.

Jackson was in a pretty good mood today, which seemed completely out of place on the ground, but Jackson was going to go with it. He was engaged to the love of his life, his first love, and surprisingly, it seemed like there were other people in camp excited about it. Jackson knew they were mostly excited for Bellamy, really. Jackson didn't have many people in camp he was close to. Given the way his ife had changed, though, he thought maybe it was time to start letting more people in than just Abby and Bellamy.
He was just cleaning up for the night when someone came into Medical and tapped his shoulder. Jackson turned and looked down to see one of the kids he'd seen around camp before--in fact, he was pretty sure he'd seen Bellamy working closely with him during Pike's time as Chancellor, before he'd taken the chip--but he didn't quite know him. He was one of th kids Jackson had helped drop to the ground, though. he knew that. And he didn't seem to be happy. He seemed suspicious and maybe a little nervous. But this seemed urgent, whatever it was about. "Yeah, Jackson. You're Murphy, right? How can I help you?" he asked, his gaze concerned.Tag: Monty Green

Monty was momentarily speechless as Jackson addressed him as Murphy. Murphy?! They looked nothing alike, their names didn't even sound similar, sure, they both started with M and ended with Y but there was a whole bunch of letters in between that made them completely different names. "Monty" he corrected the doctor, glaring at him, although he was sure that it was just a simple mistake "Mon-TY" he enunciated his name slowly in an attempt to get his point across. "Has Bellamy not mentioned me?" okay, now that was just rude, usually it was polite to introduce your friends to your partner before you got married, at the very least Monty expected Jackson to know of his existence. The man did confirm that he was the guy that he was looking for and he wasn't at all what Monty was expecting, but maybe that was because he'd painted him as a villain in his mind, someone who was out to hurt Bellamy in the cruellest way possible.
The way Jackson was looking at him, with a concerned expression on his face, really threw off his focus. How could he even begin to interrogate him when he didn't look the least bit like a guy who would want to break Bellamy's heart. "I just have a couple of questions for you" he told the waiting doctor "and I'd appreciate it if you could answer them truthfully" usually he wouldn't bother reminding anyone to be truthful, but he couldn't be too careful, especially when the stakes were so high. If he got this wrong and didn't go through everything properly then Bellamy could end up marrying someone who was just going to break his heart. "How long have you and Bellamy known each other?" start off casual, although he wasn't fond of the man, he had to still make sure that he'd be willing to answer the questions.

Jackson was surprised by the glare on Monty's face and the way he enunciated his name like Jackson wouldn't understand if he'd said it normally. Considering he didn't know the kid, he thought he'd come pretty close to getting it right. He frowned slightly at the offense Monty seemed to take. "I apologize. Monty," he said. "And Bellamy is... a man of few words sometimes," he added in answer to Monty's question about if he'd come up. Bellamy, until people started showing interest in the wedding, had assumed all his friends hated him, so Jackson hadn't pushed anything about his friends.
He was still frowning when Monty said he wanted to ask questions, and he wanted an honest answer, as though he didn't expect one. It was strange to think anyone might think he wasn't an honest person, when generally speaking, people didn't think much about him at all. Something he'd grown used to and previously sought out. When he asked how long Jackson had known Bellamy, though, Jackson blinked a few times in surprise, and then smiled slowly. This was about him and Bellamy. Was this about the wedding? "We met on the Ark," he answered after a moment, his smile widening a little at the memory. He and Bellamy had developed an immediate intimacy, in spite of not having become a couple until a few months ago. "A bit over a year before the dropship was launched. He was playing basketball and I joined him for a game. Why?"Tag: Monty Green

Monty felt himself calm down a little after Jackson apologised for his mistake, at least he seemed genuinely sorry for the mistake and Monty knew that it wasn’t exactly his fault… Even if he did wish that he could blame it all on him. He knew that Bellamy wasn’t the most talkative of people, but he’d assumed that he would have spoken about his friends to his fiance, at least a little. “Well you know me now!” Monty told him, no harm had been done, but Monty did think that it might be easier if Jackson became acquainted with the rest of Bellamy’s friends soon, if he even knew who they were.
He watched as a smile appeared on the older man’s face at his question ‘we met on the Ark’ came Jackson’s reply, it was one that Monty hadn’t been expecting although he shouldn’t have been as surprised as he was. “You’ve known each other a while then” he commented, life on the Ark felt like a lifetime ago when in reality it had only been a few months. It was hard to imagine Bellamy playing basketball, but back on the ark people could afford to spare time for sports and other games, on earth it wasn’t that simple. When Jackson asked him why he wanted to know, Monty faltered “Hey! Er… I’m asking the questions!” he yelled, raising himself up onto his tiptoes as he tried to make himself look taller and raise himself to be more at Jackson’s height, he knew that he couldn’t pull off intimidating well, but that didn’t mean that he couldn’t try.

Jackson only smiled at the assertion that Jackson knew Monty now, glad Monty didn't seem to be holding his mistake against him. He was further relieved, nodding, when Monty commented that they'd known each other a while, but then Monty snapped at him that he was asking the questions and seemed to try to raise himself up, to make himself bigger. Jackson's kneejerk reflex was to raise himself to his full height (he'd been slouching just barely before) and lift his chin. Having dealt with combative patients in the past, he'd learned to assert himself when challenged... but it only took a split second to question his own reaction. Why was Monty trying to make himself look bigger? Jackson wasn't a threat. Unless...
Unless Monty was concerned he was a potential threat to Bellamy and had come here to make sure Jackson wasn't. Jackson relaxed again almost immediately. "Alright," he said, and decided the other method for dealing with combative patients (and people in general) was probably better in this case: instead of making himself larger, he'd make himself smaller. He moved to a nearby chair and sat, now looking up at Monty. "Ask away," he said, smiling, his tone indicating there wasn't anything Monty could say to scare or shock him. He was a doctor, after all. He'd heard it all.Tag: Monty Green

Monty noticed how Jackson raised himself up more, standing up straight so that he now appeared taller. He hadn’t even noticed that the older man was slouching, either way he was still taller than himself. Monty took a cautious step backwards and lowered himself down to stand normally once again as his gaze flicked over Jackson’s figure as if trying to work out if the guy was a genuine threat to him and capable of throwing a decent punch. However, before he could worry too much about that he noticed the other man relax once again and Monty didn’t understand why he did that.
When Jackson moved to sit down in a chair and gave him the go ahead to continue questioning him, Monty stared at the other man in confusion for a couple of seconds. He wasn’t intimidated by Jackson’s new position, figuring that if he really wanted to hit him he wouldn’t have taken a seat. He continued his questioning slowly, thrown off by Jackson’s reaction “Your past relationships? How did they end?” he asked. He’d had a clear idea of what sort of questions he was going to ask, but now he wasn’t so sure, his mind had gone blank and he'd lost some of his confidence. He knew what sort of questions he needed to ask, he just wasn’t sure how to word them now.

Monty seemed confused by Jackson's new positioning, but at least it was better than the way he'd deflated and backed away a moment ago. Jackson didn't consider himself particularly intimidating, though he was a big guy, at least compared to someone like Monty. How could Monty know he'd never thrown a punch in his life, or that the thought of hurting someone made him deeply uncomfortable? His job, his entire life, had been about healing people.
His tone before had indicated that nothing would scare or shock him, but he was a little surprised by Monty's question. He blinked a couple times, his smile fading just slightly. "I, uh... they didn't." He cleared his throat. "I've never had a relationship like this one before." He'd slept around some, but never let anyone in before. Monty didn't need to know that, though, lest he start thinking Jackson couldn't keep it in his pants.Tag: Monty Green

Monty stared at Jackson in disbelief at first at the answer that he gave, but then he noticed the expression on his face, the look on his face wasn't one of a liar and why would he lie about something like that anyway, he had no reason to. "Oh" Monty muttered quietly, staring at Jackson for a couple more seconds as if trying to figure him out. There was a lot that he didn't know about him and he became more and more aware of that fact with every passing second. Monty began to realise that maybe questioning him like he was, wasn't the best way to learn more about him. Jackson wasn't turning out to be like he imagined, he'd been cooperative when it came to his questions, so far and answered them, even if they did get a little personal.
Realising that maybe a different approach would be more effective, Monty glanced around the room briefly before locating what he'd been looking for. He walked briskly over to the chair that was standing beside one of the beds, before carrying it back over to Jackson and setting it down beside him. "Could you... Maybe, tell me a bit more about yourself?" Monty questioned him cautiously, sitting down slowly in the chair that he'd just brought over to him. He'd decided that a softer approach might be effective and after all this, Jackson was going to be marrying one of Monty's best friends, he wanted to actually get along with him, maybe they'd even become friends themselves. If Monty didn't manage to screw it up by asking deeply personal questions in a bid to protect Bellamy from a man that now, didn't look as threatening as he once had.

Jackson saw the look of disbelief in Monty's face, and for a moment, he wondered if Monty was going to think he was lying. He supposed, at his age, it was unusual for someone to have never had a romantic relationship before. Bellamy was the closest he'd had for a while, and even that was just a few hook ups that felt too intimate until Jackson forced Bellamy to open up to him, to let him in. Monty seemed to stare at Jackson for a while until he moved to go get a chair and puled it over to Jackson. Good. He seemed to have accepted Jackson's answer, and... well, the inquisition seemed to be over.
Monty's next question, while it didn't hold the accusatory tone from before, wasn't an easy thing to answer. Jackson didn't think there was a lot to tell, at least not stuff that wasn't personal. "Well, I'm really not that interesting," he started, though he knew that wasn't good enough. "For the most part, up until Bellamy and I started dating, I mainly focused on my work. My work has been my life, for most of it. Even before I started training to be a doctor, my nose was always in a medical book of some sort." After his mother passed away, that was. He huffed a laugh, smiling at Monty. "As you can imagine, I wasn't the most popular kid in-- on the Ark," he said, almost slipping up and saying 'in the orphanage', but catching himself first.Tag: Monty Green
