Bryan couldn't stop smiling. If Bellamy could find this sort of happiness with Jackson, if the camp could come together to celebrate a happy occasion, instead of mourn tragedies and fight wars, maybe there was a chance he and Nate could one day have their farm house. On any other day, Bryan found it hard to believe, but on a day like today, Bryan was choosing to believe it. Maybe one day... he would have courage to ask Nate to marry him, or vice versa, and they would be in Bellamy and Jackson's shoes. The thought of getting married in a world like this where either one of them could die so easily was frightening, but today... Bryan wasn't scared for the first time in a long time.
They made their way to the reception after the ceremony, and Bryan led them over to get drinks. He didn't normally drink--in fact he'd never had alcohol in his life prior to coming to Arkadia, where he quickly learned moderation--but this felt like an occasion for it. There were other guards watching the camp tonight, and Bryan wanted to dance with his boyfriend. A few sips of moonshine should be enough for him to bring it up... if Nate didn't insist on it first. And a few sips shouldn't incapacitate him if something went wrong, even if he was a lightweight.
"I never thought I'd see anything like this on the ground," he admitted, his hand casually touching Nate, sliding over his shoulder and curling around his upper arm. He felt so unusually good that he knew his expression was probably flooded with affection as he looked at Nate over the rim of his cup as he took a drink. He glanced around the room at everyone else, all their smiles. "I almost think we needed this." We, as in the camp as a whole, needed a victory to celebrate that had nothing to do with bloodshed.
