Everything in camp seemed to be going to hell. Pike and his people had just killed an army of sleeping Grounders, and seemed to have overwhelming support from the Arkadians. Not all of them. But most. And while Jasper was keeping his head low where that was concerned, he wasn't unaware of the tensions in camp right now, even though he tended to be mildly drunk at all times whenever possible. It quieted the noise in his head, and was the only way he could sleep without the nightmares. If you could call blacking out sleep.
Jaha had come back to camp, and had started preaching about... something to do with taking away your pain. Jasper hadn't listened to any of his speeches yet, but he'd heard people talking. It seemed too good to be true, but he was definitely intrigued by the idea, and had plans to listen to Jaha the next time he saw him around camp. If what he was saying was true, Jasper could stop drowning himself in alcohol every night and waking up with the shakes every morning.
But Jaha wasn't anywhere to be seen right now. Jasper took a long swig from his bottle, looking around camp. His eyes scanned a figure not too far from him, kept moving, and then snapped back to the figure, squinting at him for a long moment before he started walking toward him. His steps weren't especially steady, but he wouldn't fall, he was pretty sure. He was also pretty sure that was John Murphy. Jasper wasn't sure why, but in spite of knowing Murphy had once tried to kill him, and then later taken him hostage at gunpoint, he never really devoted much time to hating Murphy. And now... well, what Murphy did to him and others seemed inconsequential compared to what Clarke and Monty had done at Mount Weather.
Besides, if Murphy still had any inclination to kill him now, Jasper didn't think he'd mind.
His brow was slightly furrowed as he looked at Murphy, eyes narrowed just barely, but otherwise his expression was blank."You're alive," Jasper pointed out, gesturing at Murphy with the bottle in his hand. He had a vague memory that someone told him Murphy had left camp with Jaha while he was in Mount Weather. Jasper supposed he must have come back with him. "Congratulations," he added with sarcasm, rolling his eyes a little and looking away from Murphy at the camp. "I see you showed up in time for the shit show." Jasper lifted his bottle as if toasting the camp, then took a small sip of his moonshine.
