Lilly walked though the woods, and once again wondered how steep these hills where! She was leading her horse bu the reigns, as they were looking for a good place to let them rest for a hour before setting off and keep riding on until dark. She was trying to pep talk her team too, determined that they were all going to get through this without anyone loosing a bit of who they were! Like what had happened when the landed here, and in the mountain, and when everyone got chipped, and---yeah! This was going to be the first!
So far she had picked up on the fact that Harper and Jasper were at odds. Something was happening here, and she was trying to give them room to work it out, while still be there to support them! Then there was Nyko, who didn't really need her pep talks, but she was trying to win his approval! Mostly because he was older and he knew a lot more then she ever world! His approval meant she was doing something good! Last, there was Alekay, who wouldn't listen to her pep talks, but she gave them anyway because she liked to annoy him. He was all 'you should be quite in the woods' and she had opted to ignore him this time.
Her words were cut off as an arrow narrowly missed her face, causing her horse to rear up! Letting the reigns so, Lilly turned to move back closer to the group, so they could be close enough to help each other. Lilly headed straight for Alekay, not even really over thinking why she went for him when Harper was the one with the gun. Before she could get to him however she stepped in something, and before she could take the next step, her foot was jerked from under her, and she slammed into the the ground. It knocked the breath from her, but she didn't even have time to realize that before she was jerked into the air--High into the air! Lilly tried to grab onto one of her team mates, but couldn't get a grip on them as it jerked her up! She let out a little scream, as she swung wildly for a moment, before her thinking caught back up to her. She was caught in a trap.
By this point, more grounders in gear and masks where surrounding their group! She didn't even have the chance to yell RUN to her team, because the grounders where so effective (something they always had been) at moving them into right where they wanted them all to be! They weren't shooting to kill! She did notice that! They were only rounding them up! "Harper! Don't fire!" She called out, knowing that might keep them all alive a bit longer!

Japser was fiddling with the device that measured radiation, bracing it against his hip as his other arm was looped around Nyko. He'd gotten more comfortable riding with the Grounder, and when they were moving slowly enough, Jasper could multi-task. He was drawn out of his focus on the machine with the sound of an arrow whizzing by. Jasper flinched, looking up in time to see Lilly's horse rear back. Nyko's horse seemed spooked, but fortunately didn't do the same or Jasper would have wound up on the ground.
"Shit," Jasper gasped, as Lilly hit the ground, and then swore again as he watched Lilly get yanked into the air. He didn't have a gun, but his hands fumbled his pockets as the Grounders surrounded them, searching for anything that could be used as a weapon until he heard Lilly shout at Harper not to shoot. Don't shoot? Were they meant to surrender?
Jasper followed Lily's orders to Harper not to fight back and let one of the Grounder yank him roughly off the back of Nyko's horse. He landed badly on his injured leg, falling forward onto his hands and knees. "Easy!" he said. "I'm not fighting you!" he managed to get out before something was shoved over his head so that he could no longer see. Someone yanked him to his feet, clearly ignoring his words, and started shoving him forward... somewhere.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper was taking Lilly's lead and was walking her horse, finding herself a lot more comfortable on her feet than on the animal. Truth be told, she had rode her horse for most of the first day and she had avoided doing that since that. After everything, she couldn't have imagined being put off by pain but her legs had ached so much from the new activity of riding that she had decided she would keep long rides to a minimum. Whenever everyone was on their horse, she followed suit but at times like this where they were moving a slower pace and she could easily keep up on foot, Harper did just that. She doubted the horse really minded either, she couldn't imagine it being overly comfortable to have someone riding on your back.
Not being on her horse also allowed her to have easier access and use to her gun. She knew she wouldn't be able to shoot while on the horse, she had been told that horses got easily spooked so the animal would likely be scared by the sound the gun made.
As Lilly made one of her pep talks, Harper started to zone out a bit. She had heard so many of them that she almost wanted to rip her ears off at the idea of hearing another. Especially with the comments that Lilly sometimes made that Harper was sure were particularly aimed at her and Jasper, and the fact that Harper was still avoiding him and not willing to trust him. At least he was doing his job, though. She could hear Alekay and Lilly arguing, the pep talk obviously - or hopefully - coming to an end when the arrow flew through the air, narrowly missing Lilly's face. Harper took her gun out as quickly as she could, lifting it and pointing it out towards the trees around them. She kept her eyes wide, expecting to find archers on the branches as she had come to expect. That just made them harder to see.
With how quiet their journey had been so far, Harper was almost happy for something to happen. Not that she would say that out loud. No, she really wouldn't now that Lilly was being pulled up into the air in a trap. Suddenly, it seemed like a whole of army of grounders were surrounding them. Harper pivoted on the spot, pointing her gun at all the grounders that were circling them. Even with how many there were, Harper had to at least try to shoot. Maybe it would scare them away. She knew that the grounders had a thing against guns. But then Lilly was telling her not to shoot. "Wait, what?" Harper replied, keeping her weapon pointed out. Why wouldn't she shoot them, the grounders had attacked first! As much as Harper wanted to shoot, she also knew she couldn't. She had to listen to her leader, as much as she thought that leader was making the worst decision possible.
At the sound of Jasper calling out, Harper turned in the direction of the sound to see him being dragged off. Her mind buzzed with indecision and emotion. Shit, he was being taken away. She couldn't just let that happen. As much as she didn't trust him, she didn't want this to happen. They needed him to work the machine. She had promised Monty she would keep him safe. It didn't even matter what she felt right then, what would Monty feel if Harper just let Jasper be taken away? Ignoring Lilly's earlier command, Harper pointed her gun at the grounder who had a hold on Jasper and shot. Her aim, luckily, was straight and the grounder fell with a bullet through his back. She quickly ran over to Jasper, her gun pointed and ready to shoot any other grounders that tried to come near him. NO TAG |

When she fell to the ground, he immediately dismounted, running to her aid. But a little too late for she was then flung into the air. Ironic; considering that was how and her had once met. She had fallen into one of his traps. However, the humor of this situation was set aside when there were far more pressing concerns.[break][break]
He had tried to hold on to her but she slipped right through his grasp. Pulling out his sort moved to one of the trees to climb it and cut her down, but before he got even near it, the others advanced, surrounding them. And then Lilly said not to shoot, clearly referring to the woman with the gun. Damn it! Alekay's eyes narrowed at the others, and was forced to drop his sword to the ground. And the visible dagger. And . . . the other small blade. [break][break]
[attr="class","sexy_quote"]"Jus drein jus daun ... blood must have blood"
He held his hands out, frustration and concern on his features -- which were not common for Alekay. But considering the woman he loved was currently hanging upside down . . . well, how could he feel anything else? He looked up at her, watching her, making sure they didn't harm her more than what they already did. A gunshot erupted into the air and he sharply turned his head to see the blond woman had fired. [break][break]
"What part of don't shoot do you not understand?!" He lashed out, annoyed that she had broken command. If the others wanted them dead, they would be dead by now. But the fact that she may have killed one of them . . . could easily make them wish to return the favor. "Aren't you people supposed to understand English?!" He further exclaimed sarcastically toward the gun bearing woman. He then turned to the others, speaking in Trigedasleng. "We mean no harm. We are just travellers." Great. Who knows what would happen now. Uncertainty even stronger when they covered his head, he struggled against it, fear of not seeing Lilly anymore and unsure what they would do to her. And if they lay a hand on her . . . he would know exactly who to blame. Skaikru and their damn weapons.

W A R R I O R ; H E A L E R The journey had been going smoothly, which suited Nyko perfectly well. There had been enough combat in the world. Enough death. He was riding with Jasper, feeling protective of the young Skaikru boy. Perhaps riding together had bonded them. Either way, Nyko was here to be of use. Both as his knowledge as a healer, and his skills as a former warrior if it did come to that. Which, it might have. When Lilly's horse reared up, Nyko grasped the reigns of Raham, gently patting his neck to make sure he didn't toss them off. It was bad enough one of the Skaikru had been flung from her horse. Moments after, she was strung up in a tree, and the surrounding people made it clear what was happening. An ambush. But, they were not attacking to kill it would seem. Still, one could never be too certain. Nyko dismounted, his head jerking to Jasper. "Don't struggle," he said, holding out his hand as if to calm him, using a leveled tone of voice. "No one struggle," he said in English, whether the others understood or not. Nyko moved to his knees in a position to surrender, looking at the others who surrounded them and were starting to round them up. He could see their gazes resting on Harper who held the gun. Guns made Nyko highly uncomfortable. He had lost his son to a gun. He had lost his brother of heart to a gun. So much damage done by them. And it seemed that would continue. The sound of a bullet triggering an emotional response from Nyko. Flashes of his son falling to the ground when a Skaikru boy fired at his people. Nyko's body slightly trembled, the older male closing his eyes with an shaky breath. Swallowing hard, he opened his eyes, to see a body lying on the ground. His emotions as a father took precedence over the ones he held as a healer. But not for too long. Eventually, he took the risk of movement, and rushed to the man's side. He turned the man around, looking at his face, his hands going to his chest. There was no heart beat. Discouragement filled the healer as he held the stranger and looked up at the others. "Moba." Sorry. This was not how it was meant to be. Nyko wanted to stop the violence, not be a part of it. He was guilty with association. They had seemed to recognize his attempt to save him, and that either worked in his favor or against it. He was pulled to his feet, but unlike the others, he was immediately dragged away. "Do not fight!" He told the others, trying to keep the death to a minimum. Already on this journey, he had failed in his duties as a healer. He could not continue that failure by not advising them to do what would keep them alive.

That had not gone as planned.
"HARPER! No!" Damn it! Lilly had tried to get free, just like like the trap that Alekay had put her in that once, she was stuck! One of the grounders ran near enough to Harper to smash what looked like a large stick to her head, thus knocking her out! Lilly lifted her hands up (well down) to her face and covered her mouth as they begin taking Jasper and Nyko away! They also took Harper, who was knocked out! Looking down, she watched the top of Alekay's head, and tried to reach out to touch him. but she was too high up. He was saying something she didn't understand, and she hoped he would defuse the hostile environment! Though, being he took was taken, too. She wanted to call his name but knew that right now she had to be strong. He was a warrior, surely he would know it was better not to fight them right now. She didn't want to watch him die! Panic took her for a moment as she waited for him to give a signal of what he was going to do! She didn't breath until he held up his hands. She had to hope they wouldn't harm him, while he wasn't fighting!
What she was worried about was if they too had a blood for blood mindset! If so, Harper was dead.
Nyko had looked heart breaking as well. She knew the man didn't like death, and valued life. Seeing him and not being able to help him had been hard. Harper and her gun was going to get them killed. And over Jasper! She had thought they weren't even speaking! Clearly there was still something between them worth fighting for! As for Jasper, she hoped this didn't cause him to do anything rash. So far on this trip he had been good, and she had gotten a renewed hope that he would start find a way to heal himself. That he could be the old trickster he had once playfully been. Though she also liked how he had grown up. She didn't want this to set him back!
They cut her down, and she fell to the ground with a thud, but thankfully she hadn't been far enough by the time they dropped her to kill her. She would have a bruise, but she was breathing. They pulled her up and bound her hands behind her back, before gagging her. Her wide eyes sought out the others, hoping they weren't being harmed. The last thing she saw was Alekay as they pulled a bag over her head, and all was dark. They walked forever, until finally the ground under her feet went from grass, to stone, to a floor. They were in something. The bag was pulled from her face as she was pushed in to a cell. The others joined her--all but Nyko. "Wait!" She called as the bars of their cell closed, and a lock was heard clicking. "Where is Nyko?!" Her words were muffled by the gag but she still tried. As the guards walked away, she kicked the door and turned to look at the others standing there--well, Alekay and Jasper. Harper was on the ground. Lilly watched her for a moment, angry. She might have gotten Nyko killed! But that would be for later, right now they needed to figure out how to get untied, ungaged, and out of this cell. Even though she knew they were supposed to be looking at her, she still looked at Alekay, hoping he would have a plan. He had done this to people for years--surly he had to escape from something like this before...Right? She didn't like the idea that he would have been captured before, but right now she needed any skills he might have.

"No idea," Jasper said, looking around the cage they were currently in. "I didn't see what happened." He'd been the first person taken by the Grounders, the first to have their head covered. He'd only heard the commotion. He was glad to see Lilly was with them, but he was worried about Nyko. Nyko had been kind to him since they started their journey. They had talked a little about Nyko's son and Lincoln, and in return, Jasper had talked a little about Maya. It was... easier than talking to his people, even his friends, about it. Nyko felt like a neutral party, and talking had started to help Jasper even more. And now Jasper didn't know where the hell he was, and he was feeling slightly panicked. The group couldn't lose their healer, and Jasper didn't want to lose his new friend.
His eyes darted around their cell, looking for anything that might help them get out, before glancing down at Harper's still form. He'd heard enough to know she'd killed someone. "Who's the wild card now?" he muttered, mostly to himself. Nyko could be dead because of her. His eyes found rough edges on one of the bars to their cell. He darted over to the bar that looked the roughest. The cell wasn't well kept. He turned his back to it and started scraping the ropes around his hands against it. It took some effort, but eventually the rope disintegrated, and Jasper's hands were free. He untied Lilly's hands, then went to the door of their cell, leaving Lilly to untie everyone else.
He couldn't see the lock, but he could feel it. His fingers traced the opening for a minute before he said, "I think I can get this open." He looked back at the cell, around the ground, which was dirty, probably from other people having tracked dirt, and leaves and other things in here. He needed a stick that would fit in the hole of the lock and not break too easily. Once he found one, he went to work trying to free them.

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGOh, Harper's head hurt a lot. What had happened? Her memory was blurry and with the pain in her head, she wondered if she'd been hit on the head by something or fallen down somewhere. She had yet to open her eyes but she couldn't see any lights through her eyelids so she could have fallen down into something that was dark. Part of her wouldn't be too surprised if she had fallen into something but that didn't really make sense. With difficulty, Harper managed to open her eyes and found that it didn't make any sort of difference, it was dark and Harper's vision was blurred. It hurt to keep her eyes open. She went to rub them with her hands but they were tied behind her back. Shit, what had happened? Her eyes shut again as she tried to fight past the fog in her mind and she managed to put together pieces of memory. They'd been ambushed. Harper had shot a grounder. Well, that would explain having her hands tied and her face covered.
If they had caught her, she couldn't imagine that she would live for much longer. That thought definitely sobered her and she tried to numb out her emotions. They would get in the way, they were what got her into this position in the first place. If she wanted to try and escape, she couldn't let them get control of her again. Firstly, the thought ran through her head about the others. She definitely hoped that they had found a way to get away but that hope was quickly proved wrong. Jasper spoke, saying how he could get something open. She took in a deep and shaky breath. It hadn't even been worth her shooting, Jasper had still been caught. Really, she couldn't even remember what happened after she shot the grounder but it was pretty obvious that one of the grounders had managed to knock her out. What luck.
Hesitating, Harper slowly opened her eyes again. It hurt less now and her vision seemed clearer, although not perfect. Hopefully her vision was fine and she was just still groggy from being knocked out. Harper could see people, not clearly and she doubted she would see them clearly anyway with how dark things were. She counted them, finding only three people. Squinting, she tried to make out the forms, working out that Nyko was the one missing. "W-where's Nyko?" Harper said, her voice slurred slightly. She would obviously need another minute to recover and wake up. That wasn't good, she needed to be strong and she was supposed to be keeping the group safe. Deciding that it was worth at least trying to do something, Harper pushed herself up into a sitting position. Her head ached from the movement and her stomach turned but she fought against those feelings and managed to sit.
If she had a concussion, things would not go well for her. Then, she still had the thought that she was going to die anyway. She had killed a grounder and they didn't just let that happen. All she could hope was that they didn't kill any of the others. Nyko was missing, though. What if they decided to kill him because of what she had done? Feeling her breathing speed up, Harper tried to force her emotions down again. She didn't need to panic, she couldn't afford to. Nyko would be fine. They would get out and they would find him. They couldn't lose their healer, they really couldn't. The journey was still near the beginning and anything could happen that would require him. Harper also generally didn't want him to die, while she didn't know him well, he had made himself out to be a good guy so far. "What's happening?" Harper then asked, referring back to the comment she had heard from Jasper.

He glanced at Jasper who was already working on the lock. That would be helpful. But his attentions were more on Harper, who was lying on the ground. She then asked where Nyko was, just like Lilly had. The Healer's absence was not gone unnoticed by Alekay. [break][break]
He knelt down in front of Harper, starting to untie her hands. "Are you ok?" He asked her, his voice thick with concern as he looked intently into her eyes. "Are you alright?" He further asked, getting the rope off with ease, not even needing to look at the binds. His hands then took hers, helping her up to her feet almost tenderly. Which only lasted until she was fully standing. [break][break]
[attr="class","sexy_quote"]"Jus drein jus daun ... blood must have blood"
He then shoved her back, though she wasn't close enough to hit the wall. Only to make her stagger, or if she was still unstable, make her fall back to her feet. "Idiot!" He lashed out at her. "Oh, I forgot you don't understand Engish apparently," he further mocked. Alekay was often easy going, using humor as a way to cope with most situations. But not this time.[break][break]
"Nyko is probably dead." He didn't know if that was true, but he wanted her to feel guilty. "Unless of course they're still torturing him. Maybe they'll send his hand to you as a souvenir." His tone was blunt. Clearly, his prior 'concern' had been feigned. "You were supposed to protect the group. Not be the reason that one of them might be dead!" He wasn't shouting, but he was angry.[break][break]
"Guess you forgot about that whole blood for blood thing," he added sarcastically, knowing that that philosophy, that belief . . . was far from unfamiliar with Skaikru. "If we ever get out of here, you're not taking your gun with you." Even though she was meant to protect them. Alekay didn't care. He would wack that damn thing out of her hands with a stick -- since he still refused to touch guns. He finally turned to Lilly, and then Jasper. [break][break]
"Any luck?" He asked him, taking a few steps toward the Sky person to see if he could help with anything. His gaze then turning to Lilly. "Be ready to fight. They might take another one of us." It was a possibility. They had after all killed one of their people.
