FIRST POST WITH IAH!
Aaaand hopefully the beginning of Belliah!
Isaiah sat against a wall in agriculture, looking out at the rows and rows of food that were always growing. This was where he always felt his calmest. He knew there was nothing wrong with any of the plants, that the harvest would be on schedule and that there was nothing left for him to do that day. It was true that Isaiah loved his work but he also loved when the work was over. It was difficult for him to imagine a better time than one spent sitting around the plants, relaxing in the section that must have held the freshest air in the whole mountain. It was glorious to him. The moment would have only been made better if Isaiah wasn't waiting for his turn to be interviewed by a guard about the stolen food. The last person before him had been taken a few minutes before, so he was sitting alone in wait rather than in an attempt to relax. Although he had specifically chosen to sit where he was to try and stay as calm about the situation as he could.
There was only one thing Isaiah knew about the stolen food and that was that he hadn't been the one to steal it. It was the third time it had happened now, in the period of a month. The first two times had been a lot different to this third, smaller amounts of food and a lack of investigation into why it had happened. Isaiah had taken to assume that one of the farmers had been particularly hungry one day, or that some teenagers had gotten into the marijuana plants and gotten the munchies. That could have been a good explanation for the first two times, due to the smaller amounts of food that had been stolen and the fact that it had been localised to one small area in agriculture. This time it had been completely different and the guard had been called in to investigate. This investigation included interviews with all the farmers in a separate way. Isaiah had to admit, as much as he hadn't done anything, he felt nervous about the interview.
When the sound of footsteps echoed in the room, Isaiah stood up, brushing any dust from his pants before turning towards the door. The guard that had entered the room was the same one that Isaiah remembered coming in to collect the other farmers and Isaiah wondered what to think of him. Of course he knew who the guard was, everyone did. Bellamy was known well throughout Mount Weather as being the only one who could go outside without the safety of a bio-suit. There were many stories and rumors that went around about him and Isaiah had heard them all from his friends. Isaiah didn't know what to think about the rumors, he didn't tend to take them as truth and usually let them slip in one ear and run out the other. He liked to know the truth about people and the famous Bellamy was no exception to that. There was a doubt to Isaiah's mind that he would learn anything about him during the interview, however, as Bellamy would be the one asking the questions. |

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Mount Weather overall was a fairly relaxed place for the citizens of it. So when a crime occurred, the guard was quick to react. This time, it had involved theft. While it wasn't an overly frequent occurrence, it did of course happen. They had to ration what they had to make sure everyone received equal amounts, and at least a minimum. In areas like farming, it was more tempting to take what people thought could not be tracked. The temptation was there, the opportunity . . . and those who were desperate enough, did it. Or maybe it was just plain stupidity since no one in Mount Weather went hungry.
As one of the heads of the guard, Bellamy was tasked with the interviews of farmers, to see if they could discover who the culprit was. It was extremely likely that it was an inside job. But Bellamy didn't wish to accuse anyone in particular. Not until he talked to them all. Having released their recent farmer, Bellamy left the room and entered one where Isiaih Riggs awaited. Bellamy's interactions with the male were practically non existent. He had never met him before, but he had his records.
He had looked into everyones background before commencing the interviews to get a better idea of who they were. "Isaiah Riggs," Bellamy greeted with a bit of a nod. "Do you want to talk here or find somewhere to sit down?" He offered, not wanting to make the other male uncomfortable in terms of positioning. Some may think that discomfort would make the guilty person more likely to tell . . . but truth be told, Bellamy wasn't about to purposely make someone uncomfortable. Dante had taught him better than that.

When Bellamy said Isaiah's name, his heart sped up and it wasn't in a good way. It was a great start to the interview, he thought, feeling nervous already. His heart beat would probably help lead to other nervous behaviours and cause him to act like he was actually guilty when he wasn't. This was probably part of the reason why Isaiah had been so drawn to an occupation such as farming, he didn't have to deal with people in such a stressful way as this. The only people he dealt with in his day to day workings as a farmer were the other farmers and the cooks that would use the produce to cook food. They weren't stressful to deal with most of the time and it made things a lot easier for Isaiah. He didn't do well under pressure and that was obvious to everyone around him when situations like this came about.
There was some relief when Bellamy asked whether Isaiah would prefer to be interviewed there or in another room. It gave him choice about his surroundings and it was a surprisingly kind gesture from a guard who was obviously trying to work out if any of the farmers were guilty. Isaiah had enough of a brain to know that was why they were all being interviewed separately. "You're Bellamy Blake?" Isaiah asked. He knew the answer to the question but found it too intimidating to do anything but ask for confirmation of that fact. He glanced around the room, seeing the plants and feeling his normal sense of calm from the familiarity of them. It was obvious to Isaiah that he wouldn't feel more comfortable in any room other than the one they were currently in. "Here is fine," he said, a small nod following the words as his gaze fixed back on Bellamy. |

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Isaiah both questioned and stated Bellamy's identity, as Bellamy had no introduced himself. He figured people knew of him, due to his close relationship with Dante. A father fo heart. "Is that a problem?" He asked him with a bit of a smirk, more with teasing than offense. "I'm heading this investigation, which I'm sure you've already heard the basics about." Bellamy had not directly given Isaiah the information, but he figured the farmer knew about it. Besides, this wasn't the first occurrence. And on top of that, Muont Weather was small enough that things like this got around in no time.
When Isaiah confirmed that this area was alright, Bellamy gave a short nod. "I won't take up too much of your time," he assured him, knowing that the farmers were busy. "Just have some questions that I need to ask. Protocol." Which he couldn't dismiss. It was only right that he ask every farmer the same series of questions, so that suspicion wasn't wrongly placed on any single person. "I have the details of your job here, but I'd like to hear from you what your responsibilities are." He could solely go by Isaiah's records, or allow him to explain it. Bellamy found it was always beneficial to take advantage of both perspectives.

So I just took to assuming that things would be very organised and that farmers would be assigned to different sections so that all the work got done in an orderly manner. In no way had Isaiah meant to be rude when questioning whether he had Bellamy's name correct. He just hadn't wanted to assume that he had it correct, he'd thought that would be the politest way to go about it. At Bellamy's reply, questioning whether it was a problem who he was, Isaiah felt his eyes widen slightly and add to the stress he was already feeling over this interview. In a normal situation, Isaiah would have taken notice of the fact that Bellamy was smirking and heard the teasing tone to his voice but this wasn't a normal situation. In stress, Isaiah became what his mother just tended to call a little blind. It had been cute, apparently, when he was a kid but now it just caused him trouble. "Not at all," Isaiah quickly confirmed to Bellamy, attempting a smile to accompany the words.
Bellamy moved back onto the topic of the investigation. Isaiah was relieved about that. He simply nodded along with Bellamy's words, confirming that what the guard was saying was correct. It was true that Isaiah knew the basics of what had happened, all the farmers did. Big news such as that spread around farming circles quicker than viruses could spread through a whole planter box of produce. Isaiah was also a bit relieved to hear that Bellamy wouldn't need to speak to him for too long, as much as he wasn't going to let that part show. It wasn't that he had any sort of problem talking with Bellamy, it was the situation. In any other circumstance Isaiah would have likely been excited about Bellamy talking to him. The case and the missing produce just left Isaiah in a state of high stress.
It was true that Isaiah was a little surprised by the first of Bellamy's questions, not completely sure why he'd want to hear from Isaiah what he did in his job when he already knew. But he would still answer it. Isaiah had nothing to hide. "I'm part of the team who look after the root vegetables - the carrots, onions, and beets, for example." He paused, turning out towards the white planter boxes lined up in neat rows. "They're all grown in this room, particularly over to the left section. My team is responsible for planting, tending, and harvesting those vegetables. But my job also can include helping out in any other sections if help is needed. I was helping pick fruit the other week." A bit of a smile now on his face, Isaiah turned completely back to Bellamy. Talking about his job - as pointless as the question seemed to him - wasn't stressful. It was the following questions that likely would be. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy listened to Isaiah's answer to his question, offering adequate detail to it. He jotted down a few notes, before returning his gaze to the man. Or well, following where Isaiah was motioning. Bellamy looked over the boxes before looking back to him. "How long have you been working here? And in this section?" Bellamy inquired, wondering if there were any informal changes within the division. Truth be told, Bellamy didn't monitor farming that much. His main duties were catered to his skills -- particularly one that allowed him to venture outside the walls of Mount Weather.
But he figured that apart from this being an interrogation . . . he was also familiarizing himself with the workers. And Isaiah didn't seem to be quite a bad guy at all. Plus, he was easy on the eyes. "Do a lot of people have access to different sections? Or is it just a select few?" Bellamy had asked similar questions to the others, but he was also checking consistency. Seeing who was offering the truth, and who was lying. This wasn't something worth lying about unless someone was guilty. Whether it be saying that everyone had access to the areas so that suspicion would not fall onto them, or if they said that only a limited few had access. Bellamy offered a slight smile and nod before Isaiah answered. "Relax. You're doing fine," he encouraged, knowing that this could be stressful . . . not that he was in the farmer's position but Bellamy could imagine.

Gosh, he's a ball of stress. He's worse than me! XD
It was a calming fact that Bellamy wasn't being aggressive at all in his questioning. He was calm and that would definitely help in keeping Isaiah calm. Isaiah noticed the fact that Bellamy took notes at his answer and while that was something that made him feel a little uncomfortable, he could push logic in to that to tell him why it was happening. If he kept reminding himself it was fine, it would be. "Um." Isaiah paused, trying to think back to when he had started working with the root vegetables. He had started off picking fruit, like most new workers did, and then moved onto roots later on. "I think six months," he told Bellamy, hoping that was right. "No longer than a year. I used to pick fruit as my main job before this," he added on the extra details, hoping it didn't matter too much about the fact that he couldn't quite remember how long he'd been working in roots. It had felt like forever, if he were to be honest.
If Bellamy's calm had been keeping Isaiah calm before, it was definitely working less now. Isaiah's mind began to race a little with worry about his last answer and he found himself almost missing Bellamy's next question. He looked up at Bellamy confused for a moment before he realised what the guard had asked. The stress that he was now feeling must have also been showing, going by the extra comment Bellamy gave before Isaiah answered. "Oh, um, I think we aren't supposed to have much access to other sections but if a section is behind on work and needs help, they ask for it." All the farmers knew that they probably weren't supposed to do things that way, that it wasn't exactly how things were intended to run but it was the only way to keep everything running. Agriculture was one of the busiest sections in the mountain and it was sometimes obvious that there weren't always enough farmers to keep it running well enough. "Everyone could have been everywhere," he decided to add on, making things clearer for the guard.
The last thing Isaiah wanted was to get any of the others in trouble, especially those that ran agriculture but he couldn't lie. Not only would it be bad for him to be caught out lying - he hadn't stolen the food and didn't want to make it look like he had - but it was also against his nature to. He lied when he needed to but otherwise he held strong morals and tended to trust the things that his parents had taught him. So he found himself feeling like he were being pulled a bit, having given the truth but now in worry that it was the wrong thing to say. For someone just being asked a couple of questions, he felt like he was stressing way more than he logically should have been. And it must have been showing on his face, Isaiah knew he didn't hide his emotions well. He'd never had to. He felt like he looked guilty. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy listened to Isaiah's answer, jotting down six months before wiping it off and then replacing it with a year, though not before pausing and looking at the male with a slightly raised eyebrow. He was starting to panic. Or lose confidence. Something, as evidenced in his next response. Bellamy just looked at him as he talked, taking in the answers of how they ere not meant to have access to other sections. But sometimes when needed, they would help. It made sense.
They had limited citizens in Mount Weather, so they often had to help each other out. Which built a great community within the walls. Bellamy's memory of the Ark was incredibly vague, but he did remember the fear of the laws. Walking on eggshells. One small slip and you could get floated for it. President Wallace wasn't like that, and being here felt more at ease. Though, that in no way meant Bellamy didn't think of or miss his family.
He did. Emphatically. "So those people are authorized to help in sections that require it, or is it informal?" He inquired. With how Isaiah was reacting, Bellamy was trusting his gut more and more that the guy didn't do it. He didn't seem capable of it, unless this was all an act. But, judging from the expression on his face, that was unlikely. Bellamy then lowered the tablet in his hand, just looking at the farmer for a few moments before bluntly and casually asking him: "Did you do it?"

Notes here. Isaiah chewed on the inside of his cheeks as Bellamy asked his next question. Technically, farmers weren't supposed to work in sections other than their own but he was sure they couldn't get into any trouble over that. The only thing it would really do was make it more difficult for the guards to find whoever had stolen the food. He paused at that thought, his eyes widening slightly as more panic hit him. What if Bellamy thought he was saying this to take suspicion off himself? He shut his eyes, tight. Now he was just letting his thoughts run a little too wild. Of course he wouldn't be thinking that because Isaiah was telling the truth and Bellamy would be able to know that. Isaiah trusted that he wasn't the only farmer being truthful about how things ran in agriculture. He needed to calm down before he did something worse, like started crying.
His eyes opened again and he looked back at Bellamy as he gave his answer. "Informal," he began, his voice shaking a bit on the word. He took in a deep breath through his nose and let it out through his mouth in hope that it might steady his voice when he spoke again. "But as far as I know, we've never gotten in trouble for it." That was probably the best thing he could say in terms of helping out those above him. Isaiah couldn't imagine those in charge not knowing about the things that were done in agriculture, as far as Isaiah knew, it had always been done the same way. That answer might have even helped to calm some of Isaiah's nerves, knowing he did something to ease himself on both sides of the pull. Being truthful and yet trying to protect those he knew he should have been. It would have if Bellamy hadn't asked his next question.
Isaiah's eyes widened, his mouth dropped open and he shook his head like an idiot. Did he look that guilty? He should have had more control over his nerves. "No, I-I didn't," Isaiah said, stopping his head from moving and then forcing his mouth to shut again. He could almost feel tears starting to form in his eyes. No, he thought, that is not happening. It was one thing to cry, it was another to cry in front of a guard when he was being questioned. It would be even another to cry in front of someone as good-looking as Bellamy. Why he even cared about that by that stage, he had no idea. There were a lot of good-looking people in Mount Weather. A few of which had probably seen him cry for one silly reason or another, at least when he was younger. He could still bring up the chili incident and cringe about it. And, quite frankly, it didn't matter if he cried in front of Bellamy because after this Isaiah couldn't imagine daring to ever talk to the guard again. He felt so embarrassed. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Bellamy could see that Isaiah was really struggling. And that it was intensifying. Getting worse with each question. He answered that it was informal assistance, which menat that who had access to which area wasn't exactly telling enough. There was a bit more liberty to move between the different sections. "Until someone starts stealing," Bellamy stated. The fredom to move between them wasn't bad, but he wondered whether it was done within reason or whether it was uncontrolled. He would have to look into it. But he wasn't sure whether asking Isaiah more was such a good idea.
The guy looked like he was on the verge of a breakdown, and Bellamy certainly didn't want to be the cause of it. Even though this was his job. It wasn't as if he enjoyed making people upset. Isaiah's reaction to his question told Bellamy alll he needed to know. There was no way this guy was capable of this. Nor was he faking it. As Bellamy previously established, he trusted his instincts. Lowering the tablet completely he looked at Isaiah, silently deciding that the interview was over for the most part. So he took a couple steps toward him and put his hand on the man's shoulder.
"Hey," Bellamy said in a voice meant to be calming. "I believe you," he told him sincerely, locking his eyes onto Isaiah so that he could see the truth behind his words. Slowly, his guard was slipping from duty, to just being in the presence of a guy he had upset. There was a difference. The latter tapped into his more sensitive side. One that made him want to repair whatever damage the interrogation had seemed to cause. One that made him want to stay in Isaiah's company until he was assured that the male was alright. "You sure you don't want to sit down? Cause I don't have any more questions and well, you look like you could use a break," Bellamy said teasingly, offering a small smile to him.

He's such a positive polly, right? Isaiah curled his fingers into fists as he fought his tears and wished that Bellamy would just end the questioning and go away. At least if Bellamy was gone he could cry without feeling embarrassed. He didn't care as much if any of the other farmers walked in to see him crying, a lot of them had known him as a nosy child and had seen worse than a few tears. It was Bellamy and it was the situation that had him fighting back his tears as much as he was. He blinked a couple of times and looked up at Bellamy when he spoke again, his tone so much softer and kinder than it had been before. Bellamy believed him. Isaiah stood there, eyes locked with Bellamy and couldn't find anything to tell him that he was being lied to.
"You do?" Isaiah croaked, his voice breaking a bit from the effort he was putting into keeping himself together. He simply breathed for a moment, letting himself repeat Bellamy's words in his mind a few times. Still, Isaiah felt a tear run down his cheek. There went not crying in front of Bellamy. He quickly looked down at his feet and swiped his hand under his eye to wipe away the wetness. As Bellamy asked if he wanted to sit down, Isaiah nodded. He didn't even care if Bellamy was teasing him, he did need to sit. Apparently, Bellamy had decided he wasn't guilty and yet he still couldn't seem to get himself back together. He took a couple of steps back until he felt the wall against his back and slid down to sit against it. "This is stupid," he said. He had managed to keep from anymore tears escaping, maybe he would be able to keep it together long enough for Bellamy to leave him. "So stupid," he muttered. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY The crack in his voice indicated just how nervous Isaiah was. Someone like this would not be able to commit a crime and then act normally around everyone else. Bellamy felt that such an individual, would carry too much guilt for his actions. There was something, innocent about the man before him. And hell, Bellamy found it to be quite endearing. The guardsman gave a nod when Isaiah questioned with disbelief about believing him.
He wanted the man to know that he wasn't under heavy suspicion. That this was just protocol and it was required to interview everyone. He felt even more relieved for Isaiah's sake, when he saw the tear roll down his cheek -- that at least if nothing else, Bellamy could provide the man with some comfort and reassurance. Maybe he wasn't supposed to say that he believed him. But he didn't regret admitting that to him. He watched Isaiah took a few steps back, sliding onto the ground and claiming that this was stupid. Bellamy stood watching for a few moments. He knew that the interview was officially over. That he should leave and move on. Yet, a part of him -- the more dominant part -- was reluctant to leave Isaiah in such a state of distress.
A state that Bellamy had caused him to be in. So, instead of departing, he walked toward Isaiah, and sat down on the ground next to him, his back against the wall, setting his tablet to his other side rather than between him and the farmer. "What is?" He asked. "The interview or the fact that someone stole something?" His tone was genuinely curious, but Bellamy also left out one of the answers being that Isaiah felt getting emotional or nervous was stupid. He didn't believe it was, and wanted Isaiah to know that he wasn't judging him for it.

Isaiah kept his gaze down as he sat there and sort of hoped that he would hear the sound of receding footsteps. If Bellamy left, he didn't have to worry about breaking down completely but that sound didn't come. Instead, Isaiah heard a couple of steps moving towards him and felt a presence beside him. He looked up enough to see that Bellamy had sat beside him. Isaiah was confused at that, the guard had no reason to stay with him if he had said that he was done with the questions. If the interview was over then he could leave Isaiah. For a second, Isaiah thought about verbalising the question of why he was there but then Bellamy spoke. Neither of the options that Bellamy gave were the correct ones and Isaiah looked up completely at him. "Someone stealing food is stupid," he said, his voice quiet. He did his best at keeping it clear and he was doing a better job at that but there was still a sting in his eyes. His body still felt like a pulled elastic ready to snap back.
If Bellamy wasn't going to leave him, he had to keep putting effort into not crying and that wasn't easy. Why couldn't he have just left? "That is but..." Isaiah trailed off from his words and shook his head a couple of times. Bellamy couldn't be that dumb to not get what Isaiah had meant, could he? If he was, Isaiah wasn't planning on spelling it out to the guard. If he already felt embarrassed and stupid over this whole situation, that would do nothing but make it worse. He felt more moisture on his cheeks and he wiped it away again as he sniffled. He looked back down and just breathed for a couple of moments. "Why are you still here?" he asked Bellamy, not bothering to look up when he asked it. "You said you don't have any more questions," he added. |

my people MY RESPONSIBILITY Isaiah initially said that someone stealing food was stupid, and he seemed as if he was going to say something else. Bellamy turned his head to look at him, aware of the fact that he appeared to be growing emotional again. His next words however, were not revealing of the unfinished sentence. Instead, he asked why he was here, said that he didn't have any more questions. Bellamy looked back ahead of him. He could take a hint.
"You're right. I don't." Not really pertaining to the investigation anyway. His presence was clearly making Isaiah uncomfortable and he wasn't going to push it. Instead, Bellamy took the tablet in his hand again and rose to his feet, turning to face toward Isaiah. "Thank you for your time, Mr. Riggs," he said, figuring that Isaiah wanted the formality. Bellamy's attempt to help ease the man backfired, as it seemed his presence was what was distressing him. "If you can think of anything else that could help this investigation, feel free to contact me." As he was the one heading it.

That's the best I could get him to do. XD When Bellamy rose again to his feet, Isaiah felt himself panic a bit. That didn't make sense because he wanted Bellamy to go away, not to stay. Maybe it was the fact that Bellamy hadn't really answered his question about why he was still sitting there with Isaiah. As much as he felt himself stressed about crying in front of Bellamy, he also felt curious about why the guard had decided to stay even with the formalities over. He could imagine that Bellamy would have been used to people getting stressed in interviews and that he wouldn't particularly want to stay with them all. That wouldn't be part of his job at all. He looked up at Bellamy, his state calming just a bit from his thoughts. Maybe he would even be able to pull himself together completely from there.
It seemed that Bellamy was back to formalities and Isaiah quickly stood up to stop him from leaving. He was going to regret this, he was sure. The guy had already been witness to his stress and to him crying, Isaiah really should have let him go and saved them both the trouble. But he really wanted the answer to his last question. "Wait," he said, reaching out and placing a hand on Bellamy's shoulder. "Sorry. You didn't answer my question. Why didn't you just leave once the questioning was over?" His voice sounded a lot strong than it had before and Isaiah hoped that it sounded kinder too, although he wasn't sure that it did. He paused for a moment before adding: "I didn't think it was part of your job to calm stressed people down." He managed to smile at that ad sniffled again. At least he wasn't crying. That was good. |
