Everything had quickly gone downhill the moment Pike became Chancellor. After working so hard to make peace with the grounders and trying to maintain that peace, he was going to ruin everything both she and Kane had worked so hard to achieve. The worst part was that Abby couldn't do anything about it. She was no longer Chancellor. Pike had been elected Chancellor, beating Kane and now he was ruining their chance at being able to finally live in peace. Shortly after he had been elected Chancellor, he and several of his followers had gone and massacred the grounder army that had been sent to protect them. They were on the brink of war once again and all Abby could do was stand by and watch as the Chancellor condemned all of them to death. Her people to death. It frustrated her, but it was beyond her control. She had enough on her plate, which was why she had wanted to have an election in order to make Kane Chancellor. If she was completely honest, she just couldn't handle the job of being Chancellor on top of everything else going on in her life. She was a doctor above all else. There were sick and injured people who needed her help, particularly Raven. Abby was worried about her. She had been lying to her about the pain she was feeling for months and that concerned the doctor. If she wanted to reduce the pain of her injury, she needed to stop pushing herself so hard. Of course, Raven being her stubborn self refused to do that and that had led Abby to not clearing her medically, which thus suspended her from work.
To make matters worse, Jaha had made an unexpected return to Arkadia. Right away, Abby had a suspicious feeling that something wasn't right. He immediately started rambling about how he had found the City of the Light and that the key to getting there was ingesting a chip that supposedly took a person's pain away. None of it made any sense. In fact, it all sounded like crazy talk. What he was talking about was insane. There was no City of Light and there was no such thing as taking a person's pain away. Not really. It was all nonsense. Yet, he went around and tried to convince people to take the chip, giving them false hope. Abby didn't like it, not in the slightest. There was this nagging feeling deep down in her gut that told her that Jaha wasn't being entirely truthful about his intentions. Her suspicions only grew after she had asked to test the chips. She had brought up Wells and he had hesitated. His expression had gone blank, almost as if he didn't even remember him. That was beyond suspicious. Plus, the fact that Raven had suddenly come to her, claiming that her pain was gone. Just like that. Gone. Pain doesn't just go away just like that. The tests seemed to say otherwise though. Even so, Abby wasn't about to give up. There was something strange going on here and she was going to find out what it was.
While Abby was busy in medical tending to patients and working on testing the chips, Kane was busy trying to stop Pike and his followers from starting a war. She knew what he was doing, but she wasn't really a part of it because she had her own things to worry about. It soon became clear though that they were turning against their own people now. It was bad enough that Pike and his followers were trying to start a war with the grounders that they couldn't possibly win, but now they were turning against their own people too. Sinclair had been locked up and Kane shortly after for kidnapping Pike and attempting to take him to the grounders. When she heard the news that Marcus had been arrested and that he was going to be executed for his crimes, she quickly rushed off to see him. She needed to know that he was okay.
Entering the building that held the lockup room, she made her way quickly down the hallway towards the prison block. Her brisk footsteps could be heard throughout the corridor, but Abby didn't care. She needed to see Kane. Turning the corner, she was immediately greeted by guards who instantly stepped forward to halt her movements. "I need to see Kane." She spoke up, looking them both square in the eyes. It was apparent by her tone and expression that she wasn't going to take no for an answer. Abby wasn't leaving until she talked with Kane. Finally, after a moment and an exchange of glances between each other, one of the guards spoke up. "Wait here." Turning, they stepped through the doors and she crossed her arms over her chest as she waited. A few moments later, the doors opened once more and Kane stepped into the room with cuffs around his wrists and ankles. "You got five minutes." The guard said after pushing him into the room. They then proceeded to step back through the doors, leaving the two of them alone.
