Just like everybody else, Abby had been born in space and had been living inside what was known as The Ark for her entire life. After a nuclear apocalypse had taken over the Earth, rendering the planet uninhabitable, what was left of the human race had been forced to evacuate up into outer space. Now, they were living in space inside what was called The Ark. The Ark had been created from twelve different stations that had come together and was now floating in space, orbiting just outside the Earth's atmosphere. Thanks to earth's gravitational pull, it kept them from wandering further away into space. It was a bit of a depressing life. Trapped inside a large spaceship, unable to be outside or much less see the outside world all that much. When they did, there was only darkness, the moon being the only light that illuminated the vast and never ending darkness. But, the hope that one day, they would all be able to return back home to the ground was what kept them going. It was what kept Abby going. Still, despite the fact that they were forced to live in space, Abby had a pretty good life going for her. She had met and was now currently dating Jake Griffin, who was by far one of the smartest men she had ever met and also among the most kind. Plus, he just so happened to be the Head Engineer on the Ark. Their survival on the Ark was vastly due to him and his work. If it wasn't for him, they would have never survived up here for as long as they have. He was also one of the most respected men on the Ark. Abby had also managed to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor after excelling in all her medical classes. In fact, she was now the Chief Medical Officer on the Ark. She had quickly moved up in the ranks and was now by far the best doctor they had, and she was well respected by the citizens of the Ark.
Yet another day on the Ark was in progress and as usual, she was in medical, tending to the sick and wounded. Her job never failed to bring her joy. This was what she wanted to do. She loved her job and she was extremely good at it. Being able to save lives and make a difference meant everything to Abby. Helping others came naturally to her and she couldn't possibly imagine herself doing anything else. She was a very determined young woman and she took her job as a doctor very seriously. Being a doctor wasn't a job for everyone. It took a very particular set of skills. Patience, discipline, determination. All those things were required when pursuing a career in medicine. A person couldn't afford to make mistakes, especially when people's lives were hanging in the balance. Abby was no ordinary doctor. While most doctors tended to be more cautious, she wasn't afraid to take risks when it came to saving people's lives and doing what she believed was right.
After patching up yet another patient, Abby sent the woman on her way before walking over and picking up a clipboard. Letting her eyes casually browse over it, she let out a soft sigh. Lately, she had started to notice that more and more people were becoming sick. It seemed there was some sort of virus spreading around. As far as she could tell though, it didn't seem to be all that serious as of yet. The symptoms seemed to be pretty minor for the most part, but Abby was always on the lookout for something serious. Hopefully though, it wouldn't become too serious. The last thing they needed was some deadly virus spreading around and slowly killing people off.
