W A R R I O R ; H E A L E R The tension was felt, more than seen. Various people among the clans had gathered together to pay tribute to those who had passed in the Tondc bombing. The Mountain Men had been destroying their people for so long. The fight against them was over, but the fight amongst themselves had no such conclusion. Nia was displeased -- which wasn't entirely uncommon for the Queen of Azgeda. But she had lost her warriors in the bombing. And she was unhappy with the order to withdraw as it deprived the people of justice. Nyko was not one to judge the situation. It was not his place. He was one who saved lives, not claimed them. But right now, he could feel that this animosity would intensify. That it would get worse, before it got better. For the time being however, he mourned with the others. He had lost his son earlier to Skaikru, so knew what the death of a loved one could do to a person. Nothing could ever replace his son, and now countless others were suffering that same torment. Being forced to say good bye. Was there an honor in it? Perhaps. Did it ease the passing? Not even remotely. Nyko knew he could not stay terribly long, for there were still those who required attention after emerging from the Mountain. Their bodies deprived of food and water, and sustaining other injures from the currents of what were apparently called shock lashers. Burns on their bodies that Nyko was trying to keep from getting infected. The service was drawing to a close, and he quickly scanned along the crowd, taking notice of one particular young woman. The markings on her face revealing to be Azgeda.

The memorial for Tondc was going well, crowds had gathered and the service was as much of a success that a service like it could be. Ontari knew why it was happening and what the purpose was but she, along with Nia and many of their people, felt that it would have been better to get their revenge than to mourn. They disagreed with the deal that their Heda had taken and wondered, really, what would become of the 12 Clans under her rule? But with as much as Ontari was forced to think of politics, it was not even close to what she was thinking of at the memorial.
The journey there had been anything but smooth. Ontari had rode her favourite steed and rode alongside her Queen. The trip had meant to be short and easy, something that wouldn't put any of them in danger. The Mountain Men were dead. The skaikru on their lands were small in number and hardly a thread. Maybe it was the fact that they had underestimated the skaikru peoples' abilities that they had ended up being attacked. Ontari had fought from her steed, her sword had swept through the air and had killed one of the skaikru. But another had made their way towards Nia.
As much as Nia was a warrior herself, Ontari felt the need to protect her. So without much of a second thought, she had jumped down from the horse and onto the skaikru who had been running in Nia's direction. The struggle lasted only a few seconds before Ontari overpowered the other woman. She had not been a warrior, even a child from Azgeda would have beat her. It had not been until after the battle was done that Ontari noticed the cut along her stomach. She had managed to bandage the wound but no care had been done other than that. Azgeda did not send healers on trips like the one they were on, Ontari would have the wound checked and treated when they arrived back in their own lands.
Now Ontari wore her cloak, the mismatching buttons closed to hide the black blood that stained the front of her clothing. The day was warm for the time of year and Ontari wished she could remove it. She knew, though, that it would be something to cause a panic. She was a natblida and she shouldn't have existed. All the natblida's were in Polis, under the training of Lexa, their current Heda. Ontari was under Nia's rule and one of the queen's best-kept secrets.
So far the wound hadn't done much but produce a constant pain that she could not ignore, but easily could act as if it weren't there. Pain in the area of her abdomen wasn't something that was foreign to her, after all. She watched as the memorial neared its end. There were many people crying, some quite loudly, so at the very least Ontari wouldn't look out of place when she doubled over in pain. It was like the knife had been stuck back into the wound, sharp shooting pain stabbed at her stomach and tears started to pool in her eyes. She blinked the tears away. No matter what the pain, Ontari was not going to cry. The future Heda would not look weak.
Glancing around to try and be sure that no one was watching her, Ontari ran from the service and out into the trees. Her cloak, brown in colour, was the only piece of clothing she had left to hide her wound and the colour of the blood seeping from it. She could not risk it being stained, especially in the large crowd there for the service. Once she felt she was far enough away, she sat under a tree and opened her cloak to check what had caused the sudden increase in pain. @nyko || Oh look, a novel! |
