Nicolette was sitting by herself at the front of the classroom, it wasn't time to begin classes yet. But she liked to be early, the other people that were here were talking among themselves. She had a book on her desk, and she was reading it, totally blocking out anything else. She was loving this book already, and she was powering through it in her spare time. She almost couldn't put the book down. Only when necessary.
She hadn't gotten to know many of her classmates, since no one had bothered with her. She didn't mind though, her whole life she only had 1 friend, but that was enough. Who needed lots of friends when you could have 1 best friend that you share everything with? She didn't understand the need for so many friends. But at the same time you would think that these people would WANT to get to know their classmates if they were all going to be guards one day, you had to be civil with them, you relied on them to help you out when necessary. But she wasn't looking to make friends, too shy to approach them anyway. Not that they were at all intimidating.... Ok, she was lying to herself, they were a little intimidating. Especially the girls. They weren't like how she was, and that scared her a little. They also gave her weird looks sometimes, which she didn't understand, nor would she ever.
This was just her life and she had to accept that. Which she did.

This was the part of training to be a guard that he was not particularly excited about. He just barley passed high school, and now he had three more years of classes before they could be Cadets. That was the part he was looking forward to. Not this bull shit. How was reading from books, doing papers and writing exams supposed to teach them about how to be a guard?! It was all physical! Or at least that was how Jax saw it anyway. He knew he had to complete each course though. And he had to pass. Apparently, this was also to weed out those who were not serious.
He was sure as hell serious. He just didn't give a damn about academics. Casually making his way into the classroom, he eyed the general crowd, especially disinterested in conversing with any of them right now. He had something else he needed to do first. His eyes rested on one of the students. Front of the class, reading a book . . . yup. That was who he needed. He made his way to her, standing right in front of her desk. "Hey bookworm," he stated bluntly, uncaring if it sounded like an insult. It wasn't meant to sound flattering either. "You finish the homework assignment?" He further inquired. He wasn't going to exchange pleasantries; he wanted to get straight to the point.

She was busy reading, and hadn't realised that someone had stood in front of her. She jumped as she heard a voice, one she didn't quite recognise, "Hey bookworm," The boy that stood in front of her was tall, with light brown hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion. She recognised the face now that she saw him. He already sounded arrogant, and that concerned her a little. "You finish the homework assignment?" She wanted to scoff, but was afraid to offend him. She didn't think that would be a wise choice. "Yes. And you?" She asked cautiously. Why was he talking to her? He had never said a word to her before. Did he want something? She supposed he did, or else he wouldn't talk to her. It wasn't like he wanted to be her friend, no one wanted to be her friend.
She looked up at him, waiting for his response, but she had a feeling the answer was no. She also had a feeling that he was going to ask her to do it for him. The thoughts suddenly caused her body to respond, butterflies entered her stomach, and her heart rate accelerated. But she wasn't sure why. Did the boy scare her? Certainly not. Guess she was just afraid to talk to him. Or afraid she will upset him in some way. She wasn't sure how he would react. Better to be safe than sorry; that was her motto.
