.:Personality:. Marcus is a very by the rules type of guy. He believes that the rules were made based on the mistakes of the past, and they cannot learn from the mistakes if they break them the rules--thus making the same mistakes. He believes in protecting the Ark and it’s people at all cost, and making sure the human race survives. He takes this believe very seriously, and will do all he can with the power granted in him to protect this.

Alternately, over the cost of time since he sent 100 kids to die--Marcus has begun to believe less in the rules and more in whatever the hell it took to make sure as many people stayed alive as he could keep alive. The loss of the 320 weights on him, and he will do anything to prevent another pointless loss if lives.

.:History:. Marcus was born to a mother who believed in her faith, and was raised in the family that believed in peace above all else. He would stray from this, and become a solider, with his ability quickly leading him up the ranks. He first became one of the guard, and thankful got the notice of one of the more powerful men, who gave him the join of training others to join the guard. It was here he would break the rules for the first time--he would sleep with and begin a secret relationship with one of his trainees.

When he advanced, he had to break it off; and the lesson he learned from that hardship would teach him to not make any expectations--for none would be made for him. His advancement placed him higher and higher in the ranks, until he was placed on the council. There is join was the security of the whole Ark. He took his job seriously, and did it to the best of his ability. It was here that he would begin the next relationship, and the one that would last the longest--Callie Cartwig. It was as close to love as he thought he could get.

The loss of her was another reminder that he was not meant for a family--but his career. Marcus might not always act like he likes someone, such as Jaha, and Abby Griffin, but even while butting heads with them politically, he values and respects them for who they are as people--and because they have never just blindly followed orders. In fact he deeply values and respects Abby, and even has risked his life for her (and at her request) many times--both on the Ark and on the Ground. During the time on the ground, this respect has started to become more, and he is not sure what it is supposed to mean.
