Bellamy gave the last name as confirmation that he understood who he was, and Marcus spoke up to make sure there was no doubt. "Yes, Callie Cartwig." He couldn't tell much about what Bellamy was thinking, but he was trying to see the details. He knew his son well, but Bellamy had his father's habit of not wearing his heart on his shelve. It made him hard to read, even for his father.
Bellamy did give him a clue in his words however, since he his was as stoic as his fathers. He told him that he knew no one would replace his mother, and for Marcus that was enough that he advertised his eyes to better be able to handle the memory. He had loved her. The lost that left him a single father had been one that he never had been able to speak of. Not in any detail. Maybe that wasn't a good thing, and maybe it affected how his son handled it, but Marcus couldn't change the past. He could only work toward the future.
Whic was why he looked back at his son when Bellamy asked him that last question. Was he happy? "You have always made me happy, Bellamy. I have never felt more pride or honor in being your father." He told him, but knew what he was asking. "She brings a feeling of ease to my life that I have not had since your mother." He tried to explain before finding himself almost smiling at finally talking about her to his. "I enjoy who I am around her. For men like us, that is rare, and I hope you find that one day." He had had it with Bellamy's mother, and now once again with Callie.

Marcus wasn't the sort to display any signs of nervousness, or doubt, but he felt it. Not doubt in his relationship with Callie, but nervous to tell his son that he was moving on from his mother's death. He wanted to make sure Bellamy under stood that he would always love his mother in a very special way, but that he had fallen in love and with Callie's daughter turning 18 soon, he wanted to ask her to move in. Or perhaps even more.
Bellamy gave no sign to what he was feeling, and Marcus was used to watching him for reactions. His son only asked who she was. A logical question, but as he had never spoke out loud about this relationship it was odd to do it now. "It's Callie." He didn't need to give more detail, Bellamy would know who she was. Callie was on the council, and known Ark wide. She was the face of the council, and as a guardsmen, Bellamy would have had dealings with her.
"Bellamy, I want you to know that I will always love your mother." That was important for him to know. Whatever happened between him and Callie, that much would never change. Marcus wasn't with Callie because he was lonely. He hadn't even realized he was until she made the feeling go away. He was with her because she didn't like him take himself too seriously. She called him on his stubbornness. She was so smart, and utterly adorable. That had been his first thought when he had met her--that the student before him was adorable. He had never stopped thinking it.

A lot had happened int he past three months. Not only had their little camp become a city, but they had put down roots, and began growing the seeds of long term sustainability. They had a well, and farm lands. Homes rather then rooms. Families were growing without fear of being unfed, or not enough air. The people were growing as a whole--and Marcus held so much pride in what they had done. A year ago, he would not have believed this possible.
Seeing Monty with his mother, made Marcus think of his own. He wished she could have seen Earth, but grateful she had not seen the death of the first few months here. There was many that he would have spared this, but he was always torn between saving them and sparing them. Earth, now that they had reached peace, was everything he had never thought he would see. His mother would have loved it.
Thinking of mothers, made him think of Clarke and Abby. Marcus wasn't sure what he was going to tell Abby, but he knew he's had to tell her something. She was so eager for news of Clarke and this would break her heart. Apparently she wasn't the only one either. Marcus looked over at Bellamy, and watched him looking out the window. Moving to sit beside him, so they could talk in low voices without ruining Monty's time with his mother. "I do have one question," Marcus asked him, in a serious tone. "How did you manage to change clothes without four adults noticing you?" It was an attempt to get Bellamy talking, because Marcus could only imagine how seeing Clarke again affected Bellamy.

Marcus had given them the night to settle, but he would not wait any longer to meet his granddaughter. He had missed out on being a father because Aurora had decided not to tell him, he would not miss out on his granddaughter. He knew there was one obstetrical to this--The mother. The Arkers were not on best terms with the Tree Nation clan of grounders, and from what his daughter had told him--the Ice Nation was worst. Octavia had told him of the stories she'd heard of the Ice Nation. They were ruthless, fierce, and deadly. She had said that if Bellamy had moved up in the ranks of such a clan that he would have had to adapted to that too. Marcus was grateful that they had come here, rather then stay there. It sounded like a world he wouldn't want anyone living in--much less raising his granddaughter in!
Which was why he had no idea of what to expect from the mother. He had seen Bellamy when he didn't know he was Bellamy, and now he was about to meet a woman who had been raised in that world. Marcus knocked on the door to the rooms that had been given to his son--ones that were put near his own and the other council members as these halls were guarded and he didn't want anyone trying anything out of fear. Marcus held a box with hot food in it, and a gift for Rosa from him.
When Bellamy opened it, Marcus gave him a smile and a nod, before stepping in the room. He wasn't sure if he could address him as Bellamy or the other name before Echo, so instead he went with a name that fit both. "Son," He greeted, "I thought I would come greet you good morning, and bring breakfast." Once the food was set on the table, he picked up the small bundle and looked toward the family of three, "And a gift to welcome Rosa to Arkadia."

"It's not that simple," Bellamy told him, and Marcus knew that in a way it was not, but that he wanted it to be very badly. "I was Vallier for a year and a half. I can't just push that away and be the Bellamy Blake that everyone expects me to be." But he had been Bellamy Blake for over 20 years, and Marcus did not wish him to so easily dismiss that. He wanted to get to know his son, and now that he had just gotten him back, he wasn't about to loose him to this Vallier person. When the day came that his children had families of their own they would understand. "You were one far longer then the other. Give it some time. Doing some things that seem families to you will help you find your way back to who you used to be." Marcus was not dismissing the last year and a half, but trying to fight to bring his son back to his own mind.
It was why they were approaching the gun range, and the sounds of shots could be heard. "What about you and her?" Octavia. "She has kept us from being in a full pledged war with the grounders, and I have had more pride in knowing her in the last year then I have had for the last 40 years in myself." Marcus told him. "When had grown close, but she spends more time with Lincoln's people then her own." He wished they had grown closer, but he knew she was a following her heart and he supported her in that. "I am pleased by her choice in men. I agree with you, Lincoln is a good man."
Coming to rest by one of the men shooting, Marcus waited for them to finish before taking the gun, and standing before Bellamy. "I am looking forward to getting to know my son, as I have come to know my daughter. There are . . . many regrets that I have from the past, but I want to make sure there are none for us in the future. I am grateful we have that time. I suppose even for the grounders for making sure you were safe, and that you are returned to us at last." Holding the gun out, Marcus smiled toward his son. "I've heard many stories about how good your aim was, and how you trained the others. Lets for ourselves, shall we?" He had heard how glad Bellamy was to find them, how he trained others to protect themselves, and even how he had found for his people on the front line. And now he had insider knowledge of the Ice Nation, and he could better help his people protect their land.

"Kyle Wick." Marcus felt a joy at Bellamy remembering the name. Each time he seemed to remember something else it was a sign that the real Bellamy was coming out. The one who he really was, and not whomever the grounders made him to be. He was coming back home to his own mind. "They remember Bellamy." That was not a good sign, and the momentary joy Marcus felt faded down into the pit of his doubts. He was spoken as if Bellamy was gone. "Was that no who you were to them? Who you still are?" Marcus asked, and tried to understand what was going on his in son's mind. "It was who you were longer then . . . Vallier. Was that the name they game you?" He wondered what meaning it held to them.
"How is Octavia?" That was a question he could smile at. "Now you sound like Bellamy Blake." He tired to joke. "She is thriving. She spends more time the grounders then here, but she has become a good diplomat between the peoples, even if we are still fighting. She has kept us from all out war." There was pride in his voice, because he was her father and he loved his daughter. "She is still with Lincoln, one fo the grounders who has helped us from time to time." Though every time he came to try, he was met with fear, or anger toward him and his people. He still sought to help them by giving advice on the world and how to survive. His advice on winder, hunting, and herbs had kept many alive here.

It took Bellamy a moment but finally he joined Marcus and they began walking toward the outside world. Marcus knew that many were on edge having him here. Rumors of brainwashing had filled the city, and everyone feared what he would do to them if he 'snapped back'. Guards were armed with darts to help protect him, and protect the people. They would not give up on him! They would take each set back and try to grow from it. When Bellamy finally spoke, it was in a question about the city. "Yes, we had called it Camp Jaha at first but--" Marcus paused for a slight second, before deciding not to explain how he friend had suffered from the lack of air, and lead a group of 13 out into the desert never to be see or heard from again. "--We wanted to name the city something to honor our roots."
It was a safe enough explanation. They were no longer a camp, they were a city. A people! Thriving and growing and here to stay. The new name was proof of that. He wanted to ask what the people who held him had called this place, but Marcus didn't want him thinking on that, only on the new city, and the new promises that tomorrow would hold! He also knew not to go into too much detail about their numbers, weapons, and methods of protection. Not until the brainwashing was fully out of his head. He didn't want Bellamy having anything to betray his people with, as a way of making sure there was no guilt ever on Bellamy's head for something he couldn't help.
As they came to the outside, Marcus noticed others looking at them. Some whispered were leaned in and given to people beside them, and some even scurried away, or stared. "They will need some time, but you wont have to deal with this for long. There are many who remebers you. Your friend Wick would have joined us, but he is one of the only engineers we have and we over work him a bit." Marcus had also asked him not too so he could have time alone with his son.

Bellamy was at least dressed like a normal person now, rather then a grounder, but Marcus noticed that he said nothing. From what he had learned of Bellamy it wasn't that he was a say nothing type. He had been able to use words to roust the crowd, and turn the tides. Silence was something new. Marcus also noticed the edges of the tattoos that could be seen at the edges of the shirt, but he didn't stare at them. Marcus didn't want his son feeling any sort of uncomfortable while he shifted from whatever had been done to him, back into his old life.
He had felt a dull ache in his chest since finding Bellamy, and knowing that he had not been looking for his son. They had assumed he was dead. The fire that the kids set off had killed him. He had never been seen after that. The boy, Finn, he said he made it away but they'd been separated. He was assumed he was making sure that their people were away, and he had not gotten clear in time. They'd mourned him, and put up a fake grave for him to help Octavia--who had come back to them--heal. Had they thought that he was alive and out there--being brain washed--they would have came for him. Hell, he was surprised that Lexa didn't try to use him before this.
"I thought walking around here might help you clear you head some." Marcus suggested, his tone not one of authority, but supportive. "I don't think the sights would remind you of anything, but maybe the people and some of the activities would." He had learned about how excited Bellamy had been at finding rifles, so that was one of the places they were going. Marcus sat the mask that Bellamy had been wearing on a table near the door, returning it to him. "Come," Marcus was assuming Bellamy would agree, as he waited for him to walk down the hall with him.

Marcus was standing at the doorway to the Ark, and looking over the lands they had claimed for their own. Two years ago he had been on the Ark, up in space, and trying to figure out how to save his people. He had believed the only way to do it was with a mass culling. Today, he was trying to figure out how best to save his son, and knew he would not fail him again. Marcus had not known that the Blakes were his children until Sydney had tried to use them against him in her political fight for power. Make one of them kill Jaha. Let Marcus become chancellor. Revel his children (both) and their crimes to weaken his power, and then over take. Thankfully it had not worked. Which led them to now, and the face that Bellamy Blake had been missing for so long. A year and a half. Marcus had been out in the woods with a hunting party when they'd crossed paths with the Tree People, and things got heated. He had fired at one, breaking their mask rather then killing--which he was more the thankful for that mask every day. When he'd saw the face, he knew whom it was. Thankfully the breaking of the mask had given Bellamy pause (either from shock or the impact) long enough for Marcus to use one of his other weapon (a gun that had darts in it) to put him down long enough to take him home. Bellamy didn't have a clue he was. He wouldn't even speak to Marcus, just stared at him the way the grounders did. He had sent for Octavia, and from what he heard from watching the events in the room from a camera, Bellamy was starting to remember. Looking down at the broken mask in his hands, Marcus knew he needed to talk to his son. Find out what was happening, and how this happened. Walking to the room they had given him, Marcus knocked on the door. It had not been long since Bellamy had regained his memories, but they were all trying to find out what would be happening next. He'd stay of course, but did the grounders do this to him? Should they look at retaliation? Had he been abused in anyway? Bellamy was his son, and Marcus would not allow any harm to come to him--not again. The last time Marcus had seen him, Bellamy was dressed (mentally and physically) like a grounder. He wondered now who would answer the door. Which Bellamy he would see.

Marcus stood by the training mats with his arms folded over his chest and an unreadable expression on his face. He had learned from his own trainers that if you didn't see approval there you worked harder for it. It was hard, because sometimes he wanted to react to a good move, or someone surprising him--like with Blake--but he knew if she showed approval then the cadet could think they had mastered the skill, and try less. It was important they never stopped trying. “Do you have any tips, maybe, Officer Kane?” She asked, after having taken down her next target, this time not relying on wiles or appearing weaker--moves that would not have served her as guard. "More of that, less of the first," He told her in a monotone voice, but inside he was clapping his hands at her improvement.
Blake held promise, and Marcus was trying to push her toward it. He stepped closer and when Shumway walked closer to, Marcus sent him off to train else were. "Had he been an officer, you would have had trouble taking him down. Your good, but you should work on speed more then power." He tried to give her the advice she was asking for. Women by nature had less power behind their hits then men, unless they worked to really tone up their hitting--so while learning in the beginning stages, he always suggested they go for faster hits in more direct areas. "Aim for weak places. The neck, toward the adam's apple, the noise, the bottom of the ribs if it's not protected by armor. A well placed hit there will hurt more then a misaimed one in the face." He was looking toward her face while he spoke, but another lesson he had learned from his training officer was once you were standing on the mats anything could happen. If she tried to use the moves he was explaining to her now, he was ready to block them. He could not afford to get distracted by her pretty face, and let her get the best of him before everyone. He had worked hard to be thought of untouchable (though he knew it wasn't true), and he was damn well doing to try to maintain that.

“I’m good.” She told him, and Marcus felt a bit of relief at knowing that she was fine, as he trusted her to be honest with him. Aurora was strong, and he knew that she wouldn't be the type to complain but he also knew that if she felt something was wrong, that she was indeed speak up and let him help. “I don’t think either of us needs anything right now, Marcus. He gets to cuddle and bond with his Daddy, I get to cuddle with you, I think we’re both very happy.” Lifting his hand, he placed it on the side of her head to better allow him to lean down to place a kiss on the top of her black hair, before leaning back into the couch, and letting his hand slide back down to comfortably rest over her.
“Did you already call your mother?” She asked, and Marcus thought back to his mother. He had started to grow apart from her when he was younger but Aurora had helped make sure he didn't loose contact with her. He was too logical, and she was too strong her in faith. Sometimes they were at odds, but having some they both care for in the middle helped bring about a peace between them. "I hailed her when you had fallen sleep. She came for a short while, but left to let everyone rest. She said she would bring something to eat later for us." He had moved some of his food allowances to his mother's account so that way she could bring it without harming her own supplies. The advantage of being whom he was, was being able to afford more then others. That didn't mean there wasn't days when he had to go without--it just mean that they were much rarer then the lower class. “Thank you, Marcus.” She thanked him, and he wasn't sure if it was in general or for something direct. "I hardly did any work." He teased her, while looking at their son.

Sort of? That wasn't a yes, but that sure as hell wasn't a no. Marcus was getting really tired of the way grounders were having the power. He was beginning to think that they would be better off going to get Mount Weather's weapons, and using them to protect themselves. Not the fog, but the missiles. Just having it would be a good deterrent from the grounder armies coming back here--though it would also be a good way to make the people want to use it, and thus make things worse.
Which was why he nodded, at Bellamy and turned to walk them toward the council chambers. He was going to have to trust that for now, Bellamy had done all he could. And Marcus did trust Bellamy--perhaps more then the others. He had proven himself loyal, resourceful, and capable of leadership in ways that Marcus had not expected. He reminded Marcus of Aurora, in many ways. Bellamy kept his head in intense settings, made choices that were most likely to save everyone, and unlike how the Ark had tried to turn in to, he was not ruthless. It was rare there was leaders who had such connection and love for the people that looked to them. He'd not seen it before in his time.
Once they were int he room, Marcus shut the door and moved to stand int he room. He wouldn't sit for this. Good news would have been dealt with a 'yes' at the gate. He didn't think it would be bad news, but he wondered what price the ice nation would ask them to pay for Clarke's life. "Alright, lets hear their counter offer." He only hoped it was something they could afford to pay.
