“Child?” She asked disbelief in her voice...and a little insulted. The grounder was…mocking her? Since when did grounders even know how to mock. They were usually all stoic and ready to kill at any moment. She never entertained the thought that they even had a sense of humour. It was strange. Raven began lowering her gun when she heard a snap, so loud it cause birds to fly out of the trees around them. It startled her so much that if her hand hadn’t been off the trigger she might have accidentally shot a stray bullet. Finally noticing the logs of wood on the grounders back, she took a step back, gun in hand. At least they had been on his back, before falling to the ground. If it had been anyone else, Raven might have offered to help. But it was a grounder. And worse, it was a grounder she’d never even seen before. That, could still cause problems.
“What’s your rank?” Raven asked. “Are you even a warrior?” He looked fit enough to be one. But his general demeanour seemed to prove otherwise. There warriors were more of the kill first, ask questions later type. He could still be hostile. Though it was beginning to seem like that wasn’t the case. Given the fact he hadn’t tried to kill her yet. “What were you carrying the wood for?” She pointed her gun at the logs as she asked. The question was more out of curiosity than anything else. To make Raven feel like she was in control of the situation. If she played her cards right then nobody needed to get hurt, and they could both leave this place alive and well.

His answer to her question was…short to say the least. The words were heavy and hid something bubbling under the surface that Bellamy was clearly trying to avoid speaking about. And as he continued it was obvious that he was trying to change the subject. She understood that. Neither of them were particularly good at articulating their thoughts. But Raven was still curious. There weren’t a whole lot of people around who truly felt the weight of what Mount Weather did to them. What it took from them. But it was a difficult subject, and one she knew she might regret bringing up.
“Subtle change of subject there, Bellamy.” It was probably a risk to acknowledge it. But Raven wasn’t one to back down from a risk. “Real smooth.” They never talked about it. Not really. And she supposed a lot of that was down to her and her reluctance. It was just easier to push everyone away. But the trouble with that was that it meant at the end of the day she would always be alone. Usually she’d be fine with that. Hell she’d even prefer it. But sometimes, especially on a night like tonight, where not even sleep could bring her comfort...it just wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
If Clarke were here, maybe she would have been able to talk to her. But she wasn’t. She’d just up and left without even saying goodbye. It was actually Bellamy who'd told them she’d left. Raven still felt bitter about the memory. That he hadn’t done more to make her stay. Hell Raven would’ve knocked her out, easy and forced her to stay. Leaning back on the car, she looked away again, choosing to ignore his question about the cars. “I know what’s keeping me up at night,” she began, fiddling with the straps on her overalls, before finally choosing to look up again. “But what’s keeping you up?”

Raven listened to Clarke’s explanation. About how she’d never be ready to face them. It was understandable, with everything they’d been forced to do to survive. With everything Clarke had been forced to do to survive. But that was just how their lives were now. There were no good guys and bad guys, just our people and their people. And Clarke was missing the bigger picture. She was the reason they were all still alive, a fact Raven didn’t doubt for a second. “That’s bullshit, Clarke.” Even if Abby looked at her differently, the rest of them wouldn’t. They owed her their lives and anyone who thought any different would get a punch in the face. Period.
“You need to be around people that care about you. People that love you so we can help you through this.” She shared in the nightmares of what Mount Weather did to them. And even before that, the failure of saving the 320 people in the culling…Killing all those grounders at the drop ship. So Raven’s hands weren’t exactly clean either. But running away wasn’t a solution. This wasn’t the time for running, at least not anymore.
“I can help you through this, Clarke but you have to come home.” Raven wasn’t going back without her. So either Clarke was going to see this her way eventually, or Raven would be learning grounder culture real fast. Basically, there was no way of getting rid of her that easy. “Just trust me,” she pleaded, reaching out to her. A selfish part of her thought that if she did, then maybe there was a chance they would both get better. And feel a little less broken. Coughing into her fist, Raven took another spoonful. It felt a little less painful to swallow.

Use this to hurt her? Raven began feeling slightly worried as Clarke started telling her the news. She didn’t quite know what to expect. But it couldn’t be that bad could it? Whatever she needed, Raven was more than willing to help. And as long as Clarke was alive and well in front of her, there was nothing she could say that could surprise her. At least that’s what Raven thought. Placing her hand on top of Clarke’s on her shoulder, she nodded with a reassuring smile. Prompting Clarke to continue.
“Turns out I’m pregnant.” …Raven let go of Clarke’s hand as she took a moment to let the information sink in. “You’re….pregnant?” Turns out she was dead wrong in her assumption. Clarke was still able to shock her. And it was a hell of shock. She almost felt the wind knocked out of her and had to take a step back. A bitter memory of her confrontation with Clarke about sleeping with Finn flashed through her mind. This. This was insane. A million questions were raised but Raven couldn’t articulate a single one. “I can’t believe this,” she whispered to herself. Her eyebrows furrowed as she glanced down at Clarke’s soon to be growing stomach and then her own.
This would be almost funny if it wasn’t so ridiculous. Raven realised and was glad that out of all the emotions she was feeling, anger wasn’t one of them. She’d finally let go of that. It’s why they were still able to be friends. So, it was probably best not to keep secrets now. Clarke had the guts to tell her the truth so Raven needed to build up the courage and do the same. “I choose you too Clarke,” she said with a small smile, stepping towards her again. “I don’t want to keep this from you either, in fact I think your mom’s the only other person that knows.” She still hadn’t even told Finn. “After taking the bullet out of my back, she did a check-up.” Placing a hand on her stomach, she continued. “Turns out I’m pregnant…too.” Choosing to mimic Clarke’s own words, Raven finally let out a breath she hadn’t realised she’d been holding. Anxiously waiting for a reaction.

“You took your sweet time,” she said looking away to hide the small smile that appeared on her face when he asked her not to kick his ass. No she was supposed to be mad at him. “Not yet, but she will any minute now.” The equipment stood idly next to them, the machine and all of its buttons unfamiliar. Unnerving for her. It made the moment seem even more daunting. Which made Bellamy’s appearance all the more reassuring. At least they were in this together. And while Raven doubted he was any less freaked out, she could still take comfort in the solidarity.
“I’m so telling the baby you were late to the first ultrasound,” she said, scooting further back on the examination table and placing a hand on the slight bump on her abdomen. She was just starting to show. “It’ll win me points when he or she eventually decides on which one of us is their favourite.” She then proceeded to point at her chest mouthing the word ‘Me’ with a teasing smile on her face. Over the past couple months it got progressively easier to talk about the kid so casually. They’d grown closer and it made everything so much easier to deal with.
“What were you doing anyway?” Raven asked, curious. “Wait don’t tell me. You completely forgot.” A look of mock surprise appeared on her before it broke into a smile. She knew that obviously wasn’t the case. Bellamy had been great with everything so far and most importantly hadn’t bailed the first chance he got. Staying true to his word. If anything he was a little too protective. Which she had told him…on more than one occasion. But it was useless. Like talking to a brick wall.

A test drive. Now that was the dream. Just the thought of it got the blood pumping faster in her veins. It’s why she spent day and night to do all this. She wasn’t a hundred percent sure if that could be possible quite so quickly, but hey they could definitely give it a shot. Hell, she’d hurtled herself to the ground from space in an escape pod that she basically rebuilt in 10 days. And she survived. So what was the worst that could happen? Nobody would be touching the wheel before her though; that was for damn sure. “I’ll be driving it first,” she paused. “Obviously.” Though none of them really knew how to drive a car, Raven was confident in her ability to learn how. And fast. “Then maybe I could teach you,” she said with a smirk, retying the obviously oversized overalls around her waist to stop them from slipping.
She rolled her eyes at his comment. Choosing not to answer back. This time. “I’ve been working on it for about,” she took a moment to think. “A couple of weeks.” It wasn’t long at all. But she’d been basically living in the garage. Working on the car every chance she got. “You’ve gotta admit though,” she began, jumping up on to the hood of the car in front of him, her legs no longer quite reaching the ground. He was close to her again, not like before, but it was enough to make her notice. Especially with her heart beating as fast as it was just after hearing the rev of the engine. She instead quickly pushed her thoughts elsewhere getting back to what she was saying. And hoping her previous train of thought went unnoticed. “This is a piece of art.” The engine was antique, it was all stuff she’d only read about in books. “Just wait till you see it run.” Jumping back off the car, she finally spun round to turn the engine off. Not wanting to waste the fuel. The sudden silence that filled the room helped slow her breathing. She hadn’t even realised she’d needed to. Looking up at Bellamy, her curiosity got the better of her. “So what are you really doing here anyway?”

Questioning her skills was a dangerous game to play. It left Raven even more eager to prove herself and her expertise. At his offer, Raven smirked. “Damn right.” She moved past him, leaning on the car for support before slipping. Well, shit. She grabbed the closest thing to her, to avoid colliding ass first with the ground, and that happened to be Bellamy. Finding her balance again she took one glance up at him, a stern look on her face. “Don’t you dare say a word,” she warned, before realising she was way too close and still holding on to him, immediately letting go.
Finally grabbing her brace and putting it on, she turned to Bellamy, a grin back on her face, eagerly changing the subject. “Prepare to be amazed.” It was cocky but she didn’t care. There was no other way to describe it. She took a rag to wipe away the grease on her hands, and now probably on Bellamy’s, missing a spot on her face. It was dirty work, but all the best work was. Walking toward the front seat of the car, she opened the door and took two of the exposed wires in her hands. “You ready?” She didn’t wait for a response before she finally put them in contact. Raven could swear she felt the electricity running through her body as well as the car. After a moment of silence, it roared to life. “Listen to that,” she said letting out a short laugh, stroking the hood of the car. “That sound. Isn’t it just incredible?” It was like a symphony to her ears. “It’s almost as loud as you were coming in here.” Raven couldn’t resist referencing the racket he made, finally looking up at him with a smirk.

She rolled her eyes at the obvious sarcasm in his tone. He still didn’t answer question. And it didn’t look like he was leaving either. “Yeah, a mechanic in a garage? What will they think of next?” She said with mock surprise on her face. The nerve. As if she needed any other reason to be here. No matter what time it was. "Ever take a break, Reyes?" If a car wasn’t on top of her and if she wasn’t curious as to why he was even here, she would have kicked him out herself. Bum leg and all. “This is my break,” she answered honestly. It was her break from the world, and from her own thoughts and nightmares. Where all that mattered was if the engine was working and how she could fix it or how she could use the spare parts. These days it was the only source of fun she had. But it was a hell of a source. They never had anything like it on the ark.
"Get it running yet?" So she guessed they were just going to skip over the reason he was here. After everything that happened, maybe it was the same reason she was here. To escape what the night would bring. What it would always bring. “Uhh have you met me?” she asked rhetorically, arrogance dripping off every word. “Of course I got it running.” Grinning, she looked up at Bellamy, rolling further out from underneath the car. “You wanna see?” Pride was a deadly sin apparently, but Raven had already committed so much worse that she didn’t care anymore. And she was proud. These babies were her masterpieces. No other mechanic could have gotten them running, and everyone should damn well know it. Raven glanced at her brace on top of the workbench and then sighed. Holding her hand out, she looked back up at Bellamy expectantly. “Are you going to help me up or what?”

Her entire body stiffened when she saw him. It was a grounder and by the looks of him he might be well versed in combat which was further confirmed when he spoke English, instead of their own language. This guy could be a ruthless warrior for all she knew, and Raven didn’t want to take any chances. She might be crippled and a bit broken. But she could damn hold her own. The only reason she hadn't already taken a shot was because he hadn’t physically threatened her. Yet. And also thoughts of the fragile truce they apparently had, affected her actions. She didn’t want to be the reason it broke. Not after what…or rather who, they had to sacrifice to get them here. “So you speak English then,” she stated. Didn’t only their warriors speak it? It made her all the more wary of him.
“Don’t step any closer,” she warned, her gun still trained on him and her fingers on the trigger. “Or I swear to god I’ll shoot.” Her eyes glanced down at her brace for a second as she quickly tried to assess ways out, should the situation deteriorate. Running didn’t seem like an option. Taking a step back, she tried to stay calm. Her heavy breathing being the only thing to give away her tense nature. “And I’m not lost,” Raven finally said referencing his earlier question. She didn’t want him to think she was alone out here. “So, if anything happens to me, people know where I am.” She added, making sure he understood what the meaning behind her answer. Basically if Raven went missing, there would be hell to pay.

The cars were the perfect distraction. Raven didn’t want to think about Mount Weather, or the fact that she didn’t know how to be with Wick…or about Finn. Or that the one person who understood the pain of losing him, had just up and left. Her leg wasn’t exactly getting any better either. Having a massive drill slowly digging through your bone tended to do that to you. She’d had nightmares for weeks.
But that was until they brought the cars. It was like a light at the end of the tunnel. A reason for living. Yes, she was aware that might be a slight exaggeration. But the feeling she got when she first saw them. That excitement. It was a mechanic’s dream and she couldn’t remember the last time she felt that way. It had been so damn long…too long. Working on those cars kept the nightmares at bay. And on the days that didn’t work, she would just work through the night.
Like tonight. Because while there was so much she couldn’t control, couldn’t fix; she could sure as hell fix these damn cars. Not all of them were salvageable. Hey, she wasn’t a miracle worker. But the one she was currently inspecting looked like it could be saved. Raven scores again. Cracking her knuckles and lowering the hood of the car, she tied her overalls around her waist and proceeded to wheel herself underneath it. Time to check on the axles and see if they could be saved.
Just as she was about to take measurements she heard footsteps walk into the garage. Before long, as if their presence wasn’t infuriating enough, they proceeded to make an infuriating amount of noise. Rude. Then she heard them slam something onto one of the cars. That. Was the last straw. “Hey,” she yelled. Wheeling herself back out, she saw that Bellamy was the one crashing about. He could be the damn chancellor and she wouldn’t care. This was her space. Everyone knew that… or at least they should. “Take it easy.” Nobody hurts one of her babies…cars, and gets away with it. “What are you even doing here, Bellamy? It’s the middle of the night.”

Supplies? Already? It was all happening so fast. She’d only just found out about the baby and now she was getting ready to plan her life around it. But, no it wasn’t just her. They were planning their lives around it. Without Bellamy, Raven might have suffocated under the pressure and responsibility although she’d never admit it. Now that burden was being shared between them and she was grateful for that. More than grateful. “I hadn’t even thought that far ahead.” He was already demonstrating why it had been a good idea to tell him the truth. Hell, Bellamy was already more level headed than she was. And seeing the way her hormones were already affecting her, she had feeling she was going to need that around in these coming months....maybe it wasn't just the hormones.
"I don't doubt it," “And don’t you forget it,” she answered, smirking. Raven hadn’t realised quite how exhausted she was until he mentioned it. It had been a while since she’d properly rested and the magnitude of this news had a taken a toll on her body. There would be no more reckless staying up till dawn working, just to avoid the nightmares. Every decision she made from now on had to take the baby into account. She sighed, that was going to take some getting used to.
Following Bellamy to her quarters, she felt…strange almost. Sure they could still talk to each other but it was the little things that made her notice a difference. There was a shift in the dynamic between them. He was already more protective, even in the way he moved around her, in the way he watched her.
After he left her, she almost immediately fell asleep. Because even though she was afraid, terrified even, at least she wasn’t alone.
------------------------------2 months later------------------------------
Raven sat in the medical centre, looking out at the sun and tapping her foot on the ground, impatiently. It was almost midday, and time for her first ultrasound. They would maybe find out the sex of the baby today, Abby had told them. And most importantly check to see if it was doing alright in there. After everything she’d been through, all that trauma, that’s what concerned her the most. What if there was something wrong? It would be all her fault. Bellamy had tried to tell her otherwise. But she couldn’t help how she felt. Keeping her eyes glued to the door, she was anxious enough as it is. The least he could do was be on time. Granted she had come a tad early….okay a lot earlier. Abby wasn’t even here yet. But still. Needless to say Raven was freaking out, and she needed him here to calm her down. He was good at that. Sometimes.

Raven disagreed with Clarke. Revenge was all she could hold on to. It’s what was keeping her afloat. That and the plan to save their friends. Otherwise she would have crumbled under the weight of losing him. “Finn doesn’t want anything. Finn’s dead.” She knew it was harsh but Raven refused to be the bigger person here. “But fine we’ll do it your way.” Only for their friends in Mount Weather and then that was it. They had a common enemy for now, so she wasn’t going to do anything. Even though all she could think about was blowing up their leader. But the second they got their friends out, the second this truce inevitably crumbled, all bets were off. “For now.”
Raven sighed as Clarke held her hand and squeezed it. She didn’t pull her hand away because even though it hurt to look Clarke in the eyes sometimes, she was still the only other person in camp who felt the pain as deeply as Raven. The only other person who really mourned for Finn. Nobody else understood how she felt. “You don’t have to pretend with me,” she said, hesitantly squeezing Clarke’s hand back. “You can be strong and cold in front of them but you don’t have to be that person all the time.” She was still just a kid after all. “Otherwise you’ll fall apart, and then where would we be,” she said, smiling slightly at the other girl. It was just some advice. But the irony of Raven giving it wasn’t lost on her. Because she too was only just keeping it together. Trying to help and keep herself distracted at all costs. If only she could take her own advice.

Raven tried to keep up to pace. She’d volunteered to help with bringing the supplies from Mount Weather to the camp as part of a small group. Fully aware that she probably wouldn’t be any actual help with her leg, but grateful for the excuse to get out of that camp. They’d brought most of the big important stuff back so only a few of them were making the trek now. Raven desperately needed to keep herself busy and feel like she was helping. Anything to keep her mind occupied and off more upsetting things. Like her leg and the fact that it was getting worse. Like the nightmares Mount Weather forced her to suffer through almost every night. At least during the day time she could keep those monsters at bay.
“I’ll catch up,” she yelled to the others as they made their way ahead of her. As soon as they were out of site, Raven finally took a moment to rest on a boulder in the forest nearby. Making sure to keep an eye on the path that they’d been following, not straying too far. Setting her gun down beside her, she took a deep breath. Ignoring the dull pain in her back, and just savouring the moment outside in the forest, surrounded by the sounds and the smells, that she’d never get used to. And definitely never tire of. It was the snapping of a branch that forced Raven out of her moment of reprieve. Instantly picking up the gun she ducked behind the boulder as her eyes canvased the area. She kept her fingers on the trigger ready to fire should the situation call for it.

@king so would that be post Mount Weather? We could do a thread where Raven's out helping with getting supplies but she's separated from the others, stumbles upon Kinos but doesn't try to kill him because of the truce and they get chased by reapers? So they're forced to work together? Or we could do a thread where Kinos maybe says something bad about Finn and Raven does react physically? OR we could put those ideas together in one Let me know what you think If you like the ideas or hate them that's totally cool
