The low tone of his voice did little to hide the pain behind his words. She knew Gena was a hard topic for him to talk about. Hell it was a hard topic for her to talk about. Or at least it used to be. That’s why she had chosen it. But she should have known his stubborn nature wasn’t going to change in the space of a few seconds. She had just held on to the hope that a reminder of the pain her death had caused would nudge him toward the right path. The path to bliss. She was wrong. “You’ve suffered enough Bellamy. I just want you to be happy,” she sighed, defeated. Like she was happy. And soon he would be. There was no point kidding herself about what she had to do now. Because Raven cared about him. She was doing this for him. When they see each other again in the city of light he’ll understand. He’ll thank her. She was sure of it.
“Just a short walk outside Arkadia,” He was acting sceptical which was…unnerving to say the least. It didn’t mean he suspected anything, but Raven really didn’t want any complications. “There’s an empty field where I test out all my toys.” It was barren making it perfect for all her experiments. Walking in front of him towards the door she paused and waited for him to follow. “So are you coming or not?” Raven tried to keep a casual tone while asking the question, when in fact she awaited his response with bated breath. She wasn’t in any condition to force him to go with her, and A.L.I.E had specifically asked for it to look like an accident. And Raven would just hate to disappoint her especially after everything she’d given her. After all, nobody would ever think she’d blow Bellamy up on purpose. Blowing things up was her specialty so if it came to a physical fight, there wouldn’t exactly be any evidence left to prove it. Not if Raven had anything to do with it.

Raven stood patiently waiting for the girl to remove the leg unsure what the holdup was until she finally spoke. “Oh right, yeah sure.” Immediately turning around she cursed herself for being insensitive...again. Raven didn’t deal well with awkwardness. Preferring confrontation a million times over uncomfortable silence. “Let me know when you’re done.” Folding her arms, she wanted to ease the girl’s mind. It couldn’t be easy having a prosthetic leg, Raven could barely deal with her own bum leg. Choosing distractions rather than actually thinking or dealing with it. The prosthetic raised many questions in her mind, like how she lost her leg in the first place. When she lost it. But she should probably get to know her better first before digging into her past like that. Nic hadn’t come here for a friend, she’d come here for a mechanic.
It’s not like Raven was completely comfortable with her own disability. It constantly left her feeling inadequate every time she needed to ask for help with completing the simplest of tasks. And she hated feeling inadequate. Credit it to arrogance or the competitive nature within her, but ever since her leg stopped working she’d been building up frustration that she sometimes found hard to subdue. The pain in her hip since the blast not exactly helping matters. Wasn’t it about time that stopped? So all in all, she was just as self-conscious about her own leg as Nic seemed about hers. “So is Nic short for something?” She asked hoping to make conversation and ease the tension. God, she really wasn’t good at this sort of thing.

He ignored her. Just completely ignored everything she said. Well, that was disappointing. It seemed she would have to go with plan B after all. It would be messier but it wasn't entirely unexpected. She was still prepared at least. Sighing she sat back down. It was obvious what he was trying to do. Bellamy was trying to provoke her. Disprove the effects of the city of light and everything it could offer them. Force her to feel pain perhaps? But that’s what he didn’t understand, what she had tried, and it seemed failed to make him understand. There was no need for any more pain. Finn’s death didn’t hurt her anymore, neither did Gena’s or her mothers. Nothing hurt, and Raven loved it.
“Jasper told me everything,” she said indifferently. Putting some finishing touches on the grenades she was building. Almost done. “I’m not angry, I’m glad actually.” Those ashes had been nothing more than an anchor. A reminder of her past and the pain she’d endured. “It’s about time I let him go.” She didn’t need any more reminders. The future was all Raven needed to concentrate on. And it looked so bright. "The key could help you let go too. Gena would want you to be happy. She'd want us both to be happy." It was a last ditch attempt and getting him to change his mind. But she had to try. Standing up once more, she grabbed a bag nearby and slowly began loading the grenades inside. Keeping the remote tucked away and hidden safely in her pocket. “Would you carry these for me?” she asked kindly. “Unless they’re too heavy for you.” The smile briefly turning into a smirk as a flicker of her old self shone through for a moment. “I need to test them out and I could use an extra set of hands.” It was the perfect trap. Bellamy had no reason to suspect a thing.

“All good things I assume.” Raven said with a slight sarcastic undertone. Wringing her hands she leaned on the bench trying to keep them busy while she waited for her next drink. Anticipating the burn, welcoming it. What she received instead however, still left a bitter taste in her mouth only without the benefit of dulling her senses. Who even was this girl, and what made her think she could lecture Raven? “Hey, Gena,” she began, stressing on the two syllables of her name. “I don’t remember asking for your advice, I do however remember asking for another drink.” Her tone was low but sharp. She didn’t have a lot of patience these days. And it would take a lot more than one drink for her to start forgetting things so easily. “So either make with the alcohol now, or find me someone who will.”
Farm huh, that was they’d never met before. Raven rarely strayed from her station on the ark, perfectly content with all the gadgets and toys on her own station. At the sound of Mecha her ears perked up. “I’m from Mecha,” she said aloud but more to herself than to Gena. She didn’t have an awful lot of friends on account of her being too arrogant for her own good, but she was still glad to hear her station made it down. Damn, she really didn’t pay more attention to the goings on of the camp. Her head buried in fixing up the Rover. Maybe she should change that. Bringing her attention back to Gena, Raven gave her a small but sly smile. “I blow up a lot of things, it’s kinda what I do.” It was obvious what the other girl doing, or at least trying to do. But Raven couldn’t be distracted that easily. “Nice try, curly. But I’d like my drink now.” Yes, maybe she was being a little harsh. The girl probably meant well. However with the constant dull pain in her leg, she couldn't really concentrate on anything but numbing it.

Ah Bellamy. Just the man she wanted to see. This was going to be easier than she thought. It could only have turned out better if he’d come gift wrapped and ready to die for the cause himself. But perhaps he was here for a specific reason. Perhaps he'd seen the error of his ways and wanted the key after all. He'd been through a lot. Suffered just as much if not more than she ever did. Maybe she wouldn’t have to go through the unpleasantness of taking his life. It was a naïve thought but Raven was still hopeful. Hmmm, hopeful, an unfamiliar emotion she hadn’t felt for a long time. Turning in her seat she looked up at him and smiled. “Bellamy, I’m actually glad you’re here.” If Bellamy was willing to take the pill, so many others would follow suit. Just like they had after she took it. It was a win/win situation. The thought that he wouldn’t agree was almost ludicrous.
However it wouldn’t be the end of the world if she was wrong in her assumptions. Keeping one hand on the grenade Raven hadn’t forgotten her objective. Just keeping it as a plan B for now. “You are here to help me get the pills from Abby aren’t you?” Abby refused to understand what Jaha was doing for them. He was saving them. But no matter, she would understand in time. Standing up with the same smile plastered on her face, she laid a hand on his shoulder reassuringly. Not a move she would normally be comfortable with. “You’re going to love the city of light Bellamy, there’s no pain only everlasting bliss,” she said, mimicking the pitch Jaha had made so many times since he arrived. Keeping up with the hopeful assumption that he would see things from her eyes. Raven really didn’t want to have to kill him. But if it came to that, she would do what she had to do.

A.L.I.E saved her from the excruciating and constant pain she’d suffered on a daily basis. That’s all that mattered really. She didn’t know why she hadn’t accepted the key to the city of light sooner. Who wouldn’t want to live in a land without pain, or heartbreak or even death itself? The city of light would be their own paradise. And she would do whatever it took to help get everyone there. A.L.I.E was their salvation and Raven would be eternally grateful for what she’d gifted her. So when she asked the young mechanic to help deal with a small problem on their way to the city of light Raven was more than happy to oblige. Whatever she needed.
Bellamy was a force of nature and a hell of a leader. People trusted him and followed him, so when he rejected the key, so many others did too. It wasn’t fair. They should be allowed to feel the euphoria and peace she was feeling. Bellamy’s attitude was depriving them of that right. She just couldn’t stand for it. She wouldn’t. And besides, she wasn’t really going to kill him. Not forever. Raven cared about him and wouldn’t allow any real harm to come to Bellamy. Death was no longer the end for any of them, A.L.I.E promised her that. Not in the city of light. And Raven trusted her of course, implicitly. He would understand eventually, but they didn’t have time for that now. She was doing this for his sake, for all their sakes.
Raven sat in her workshop, her hand resting on her now painless leg. No longer distracting her from the task at hand. Without the pain, Raven had gotten so much work done, so many new ideas forming in her mind. One idea that she was just beginning to perfect was a brand new weapon. Short range grenades with remote detonation. It was perfect for what she now needed to do. Just as she was about to thread a wire through one of the prototypes, the sound of footsteps forced her to freeze.

Blood freely poured from her wounds, despite Raven’s efforts. Oh god there was so much blood. And yet even in unimaginable pain, and under the prospect of certain death, Gena still asked about the others. She was so selfless, one of things Raven loved about her. She would've even laughed if she wasn’t so goddamn terrified. “You…you saved them Gena, you saved all of us.” Her voice shook with every word, filled with unshed tears. Because dammit Raven would not cry in front of Gena right now. She hadn’t been the one stabbed multiple times in the abdomen. “Just don’t close your eyes okay?” Raven slowly used a hand to clear the hair out of Gena’s face, making sure she had a clear view of her. So she could anchor herself to this world. “Promise me you won’t close your eyes.” A single tear finally escaped her eye as the possibility of Gena not making grew with each passing second.
Raven didn’t know what she would do. She could not lose another person she cared about. Dammit, she refused. “Can you hear that? They’re coming.” Footsteps finally approached the room. Raven turned to find some of the people from farm station with medical supplies in hand. The moments after their arrival were a blur. Someone pried her arms away from Gena’s body. Others carried her out in a makeshift gurney using real bandages now to stop the bleeding as they rushed her to the medical bay in the mountain. Raven could hardly move in the chaos around her. A sob ripped out of her as she finally allowed herself to feel. Please let her live. Just this once, let someone live. Her legs felt numb, everything felt numb, as she followed the others. If Gena didn’t make it, how was she supposed to feel again?

Raven smiled at Clarke’s attempts to reassure her. And they worked mostly. But she couldn’t help but feel unease in this place, surrounded by unfamiliar things in an unfamiliar setting. The only thing keeping her calm was the one thing that was familiar. Clarke. But she would never feel truly comfortable here. “If you say so Clarke.” It wasn’t like Raven was in any position to really argue with her. The ceasefire was a product of the truce between them and the grounders but that didn’t mean the violence had stopped completely. She wasn’t so naïve to think every grounder would follow the rules…or every Arker. Perhaps even herself included.
“As long as when we do leave you’re coming with me, then I’m good.” She repeated, clearly making sure to remind Clarke of their deal. There was no way Raven would let her go back on her word. “It’s changed a lot you know.” With the people who came down with the ark, the population had grown, and with it the camp. If it was even a camp anymore. “You’d be pleasantly surprised.” Even in the short time since Mount Weather, the place was looking more and more like a real civilisation. “And I know a lot of people who’ll be pleasantly surprised to see you.” Though she was obviously talking about one person in particular. Bellamy hadn’t been the same since she’d left. None of them had. Though it might be wishful thinking, Raven hoped her return would be the next step in getting them all back into some state of normalcy.

I'd LOVE to thread with you! I'm up for anything! Bambi sounds like a super awesome character for Raven to interact with! And that sounds like a great idea, Raven would already be in an irritated mood on scrap metal duty so I'm sure their dynamic will be reeeaally interesting to play out! YAY! I'M SO EXCITED!!! LET THE SASS BEGIN HAHAHAHA!!! Did u want to start it or should I??

Raven pushed the hair out of her face, quickly pulling it into a haphazard ponytail. Her heart beat hard in her chest, beads of sweat appearing on her forehead. She was nervous and scared but she had to do this. Her stomach grumbled again as if reminding her of her state of hunger. Usually she would wait for her mother to remember she existed but it had been too long. She hadn’t seen her mom in two days and her rations had disappeared along with her as usual. She could no longer just sit and wait and starve to death. Raven needed to take care of herself, she was old enough now, eight years old for goodness sake, perfectly old enough to live independently.
Poking her head around the junction of the hallway, she spotted the tray on a table in the hall. The owner of said tray had stood up and was distracted by someone he recognised. Now was her chance. It was a short window for her to grab the food and run, so she had to do it now. Swallowing hard, Raven willed her legs to move slowly and quietly. Her mouth already watering at the sight of the food, providing her with the incentive to go through with this. She didn’t want to steal but she had to. Her hand was so close, all she had to do was grab the food and run, but that was when she noticed the flaw in her plan. She hadn’t been fast enough. The man was about to turn around and spot her red handed. It was no secret what happened to people who stole, what happened to anyone who broke the law. Raven panicked, tears already stinging her eyes, praying for some sort of distraction to allow her to escape. Oh god, she was going to be floated.

The intensity grew with each passing second that Raven thought she might burst. Their actions were frantic, desperate. It was no secret they were using each other’s bodies to satisfy selfish needs, to feel that closeness and intimacy they so greatly lacked in their lives. If only for one night. She craved the pleasure of feeling wanted. But that wasn’t necessarily bad. There was no pretence, no need to lie about why they were both here with each other. It’s what made this work, at least for now. She didn’t owe him anything.
With one hand Raven held on to the nape of his neck for dear life when he moved his mouth to her chest. The other hand behind her keeping herself steady and allowing him better access. A small involuntary moan falling from her lips at his actions. It forced her to lose some of her control to him. Something she would normally be more concerned with. His lips, tongue and teeth leaving her chest sensitive to each touch and the rest of her wanting more. She was losing herself in him, a small part of her feeling like he was winning whatever this was. A little of her competitive nature wanting to undo him the way he was undoing her, as if it was some kind of challenge. Raven tightened her legs around his him, instinctively rocking her hips against his. The contact of his growing arousal at the junction of her thighs provided momentary satisfaction, only to be instantly replaced by her growing need for more.
She let out a small gasp as he moved his hands to her pants, already sensitive with growing anticipation despite not yet removing them. Having more luck undoing them than she did, he slid them down her thighs, his mouth still on her chest leaving her head drunk with the pleasure. She remembered him being good the first time around, but not this damn good.
The pants halfway down her thighs, Raven quickly stopped, pulling away from him slightly. “Wait,” she said, panting and promptly placing her hand on top of his, pausing his movements. It was the first word she’d said to him since he kissed her. But she had good reason to stop or at least pause their actions. Slowly Raven directed his hand towards undoing the clasps on her brace. She would never have put it on if she’d expected to take it off so soon, but then how could she have expected this. It sobered her up slightly as she avoided his gaze. This hadn’t been there the first time around. Taking advantage of the moment, she instead took another attempt at undoing Bellamy’s own pants, obviously trying to take the attention off her own state. More successful this time, Raven couldn’t help but smirk as she lowered them, her hands slowly moving down his backside. Taking smug satisfaction as she finally got to gently squeeze the behind she’d always secretly admired.

“Who we are and who we need to be to survive are very different things.” Wise words. Words that definitely resonated with Raven on a deep level and were probably true for all the others as well. “Don’t we know it,” she said sighing. Her words heavy with exhaustion. They had their innocence taken away from them by the ground and the instinct to survive. It changed them all forcing them to do things, terrible things. And leaving them with blood on their hands. None of them were the same as they were on the ark. Finn…was the perfect example of how their experience on the ground could turn you into something you never dreamed you’d become. She shouldn’t have let him go in the state he was in. He was her best friend, she should have seen the signs, helped him somehow. Despite the hurt between them he was always there when she needed him.
“I know, Clarke.” She said approaching her. “You were…stronger than me.” Stronger. Was that the right word? If Raven had been in Clarke’s shoes, she’d have probably ruined the truce between them and the grounders. Damning their people in Mount Weather, not only getting herself killed but leaving Finn to be tortured in the most horrific ways. Hell the healing cuts on her body were proof of the grounders ruthlessness. There was no they could’ve saved him. That didn’t stop her thinking 'what if' though. She had a feeling those thoughts would haunt her for the rest of her life. “I just miss him…so much.” It came out as a whisper, Raven not noticing the words leaving her lips until she’d already spoke them.
Their people in Mount Weather. “You don’t have to worry about that.” Yes, she had to focus on the people she could actually help save. “Blowing stuff up is what I do.” A touch of familiar arrogance in her voice. “I’ll get started on fuel bombs, that damn mountain won’t survive me," she continued. "It won't survive us."

She laughed at his playful tease of her being the hardass out of the two of them. Unable to really deny it. In truth Raven had no idea what kind of mother she would be. It wasn’t something she ever used to think or dream about exactly. Her thoughts usually leaning rather towards what kind of mechanic she would be. But over these last few months ever since she found out about the kids existence she’d had a lot of time alone with her thoughts, mostly consumed with the child. But no matter how much she dwelled on them, there were just some things she wouldn’t know until she met him, or her. “Kind of you,” she replied with a sarcastic smile.
“Ammo is what I do,” she teased, a familiar tone of arrogance in her voice. “Might as well stock up now.” They still had a long road ahead of them before the baby was born and an even longer road still after that. "I just had some things to take care of." Things? It was pretty vague, but she thought nothing of it, not wanting to pry. It wasn’t like they were a couple or anything. They had somehow managed to keep a strange balance in their weird relationship as friends…with a baby on the way. And Raven certainly didn’t want to say or do anything to jeopardise that. It was a comfortable but potentially fragile state to be in.
But then that Bellamy would appear, the protective Bellamy with heart-warming genuine concern on his face. God, since when did she describe anything as heart-warming? She blamed it on the baby hormones, which she’d pretty much blamed any accidental show of affection on for the last couple months. It was an obvious crutch, but dammit if she had to deal with morning sickness, then she was going to use the hell out of that excuse. “Better now than yesterday.” And the day before and the day before….it had been a bad week. The nausea ruining the whole day rather than just the morning. “I’m ready to feel that stupid glow everyone talks about, right about now.”
“Hopefully now that’ll get better in your second trimester.” Raven smiled at the familiar voice coming from the door as Abby walked in. “Hey doc, you’re late,” she teased as Abby walked towards them accepting a hug from her. She wasn’t much of a hugger but she made an exception when it came to the older woman. “Sorry, lots of patients, not enough doctors.” Taking a seat between the ultrasound and Raven, Abby slowly rubbed her hands together. “Are we ready to get started?”

Bellamy was on the same page about getting revenge on the grounders it seemed. It was still unclear to her whether that was a good thing or not but it didn’t really matter. Not now anyway. The solidarity it provided made her feel better, or at least less alone. She didn’t have to hate them on her own anymore, or feel the need to suppress the burning anger and guilt she kept in the pit of her stomach for what felt like forever. Because now, she could see that Bellamy felt it too. It was selfish and probably counterproductive to grieving healthily, but what the hell did she know about grieving properly. It just wasn’t her, she couldn’t lie to him to make him feel better when she felt just as broken as he did. It was ironic that the person best suited to the job of helping both of them through this, was the reason they were both in this state. It would be funny if it wasn’t so damn tragic.
Raven thought nothing could add to her hatred, her anger, the pit of despair she’d been thrown into since she got to the ground. But as Bellamy spoke his next words, she realised she’d been dead wrong. It was safe to assume he was talking about the commander, Lexa. The girl who’d demanded Finn’s death in return for a truce that bitch broke anyway. And now they were what? “Following Lexa? Are they insane?” Her voice was raised and angry. It was just like Bellamy had said, nothing would change and they were doomed to be at the mercy of the grounders for what seemed like forever. “They can’t do that. Not again!” Her fist slammed on the table forcing her to stand up. It was like nobody understood logic. What’s to stop her from betraying them again. The grounders would never accept them as their own. The explosion at Mount Weather made that painfully obvious. And yet…"Clarke chose to stay, with her." Those words shouldn’t have hurt as much as they did. Or surprised her as much as they did. But dammit surely Clarke of all people should understand what they, what Lexa took from both of them. “How could she...” Raven felt as if the breath had been knocked out of her, sitting back down burying her head between her arms. But she had to appreciate Bellamy’s honesty. Grateful that he was being straight with her. She valued that.
Ordered not to retaliate. “Ordered?” Raven gave a short sarcastic laugh at that, looking up at Bellamy again. Like they were a bunch of lapdogs here to do the commander’s bidding. Not. Likely. “They can’t order us to do shit.” Raven was no one’s bitch, and certainly not Lexa’s of all people. “Gena? All those innocent people? And we’re just supposed to sit here and do nothing?” They were blown off the face of the Earth in the most ruthless way. They deserved justice. And the grounders deserved retribution. “God, I’d blow them all away if I had to.” It was all talk, mere speculation and maybe a little alcohol, taking another swig from the now almost empty bottle Raven continued. “If I wanted to.” And she did, she so did. But the fear of what the consequences would be for the rest of the camp kept her suggestions completely hypothetical. That didn’t make the bitter thoughts any less sweet though. The anger was a helpful distraction. But it wouldn’t last long. Raven was already resigned to the deep exhausting but oh so familiar grief that awaited her when she was alone.

Finally looking up at him as he spoke, she saw something in his eyes, but it wasn’t the anger and disappointment she’d expected. It was guilt, soul crushing guilt. It was so recognisable to her because it was familiar and akin to what she felt at that very same moment. In the state they were both in, neither of them would likely be much help to the other. But there was no one else in the entire camp Raven would willingly be able to talk to. Because there was no one else who felt the agonising pain they did. Every word he said, she could say the same. That she left her in that room, afraid and alone, that she hadn’t been fast enough or smart enough to save not only her but the others in Mount Weather. As if that damn mountain hadn’t caused her enough grief already.
"Things will never be different." How could she tell him he was wrong when she agreed so completely? “No, they won’t. I’ve always known that.” Ever since Mount Weather and Lexa's betrayal. What happened to Gena was the perfect example of how peace with the grounders was a naïve fantasy. Seeing as this wasn’t the first time someone she loved had been pointlessly killed by them because they broke their trust. It was going to keep happening and they were helpless to stop it. “But blame the grounders,” she finally said, her voice low but filled with anger. Anger she needed to pour somewhere, so why not into hate for them. At least it would be better than hating herself. Though she had a feeling she’d probably be able to do both.
“They’ve taken so much from me, from you.” And given them nothing in return. “Since I’m not gonna let you blame yourself, and you’re not gonna blame me…” She put a hand on his shoulder, looking him in the eyes. “Then you take that anger out on them.” There it was, finally some sincerity in her words. Because she believed in every single one. “Trust me, Bellamy. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one day they’re gonna get what’s coming to them.” Even if Raven had to deliver that blow herself. Perhaps it was the alcohol talking, Gena had always warned her not to lose herself in the drink. But Gena wasn't here right now and never would be again. And besides Raven felt distinct clarity as she spoke those words.
