.:Name:. Nathan Miller .:Nick Name:. Miller, Nate [only by David Miller and @bryanbryanbryan ], Sass Daddy .:Affiliation:. Delinquents, Arkers .:Age:. 18 by season 3
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Miller has dark colored skin, brown eys, and would be black hair if he did not keep his head shaved or hair very shortly cropped. He is of average height and medium build, often dressing in layered clothing. He once sported a beanie cap when initially sent to the ground, was spruced up in Mount Weather, and now dresses in uniform as part of the Guard. .:Height:. 5"10' .:Portrayed by:. Jarod Joseph
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Miller is outspoken, blunt, and unafraid to speak his mind despite the effect it could have on the other person. He does not lie, preferring brutal honesty rather than sugar coating the truth. Miller has a tendency to throw in a pinch of sass and dollop of sarcasm into his words, hardly guarded or overly restrained in what he says. With that in mind, he is not an over talker. He doesn't ramble or go on needlessly, though others may argue that some of his sarcastic remarks are completely unnecessary. He does not outwardly wear his emotions a lot of the time, often only exposing them with those he's fully comfortable with. He has a fairly laid back attitude, is loyal, and often fights for what he believes in . . . no matter the cost.
Miller serves better as a second than a leader himself. He does best when following the authority of someone else, though earns the respect and builds a rapport with others. Enough so that they listen to him, and that if it's absolutely necessary, he can lead them in the absence of their actual leader. Miller's perspectives change over time, but he follows his own sense of justice, regardless of the strain it puts him at with those closest to him. .:Special Skills:. Has some hand to hand combat training, as well as is well versed with firearms, thievery

.:Birthplace:. Alpha Station .:Family:. Father: David Miller [Sergeant and Chief of the Guard] .:Occupation:. Student, Delinquent, Guardsman .:History:. Miller was born into a very respectable family. His mother had been suffering from a long term illness and passed away when Miller was five years old. This left his father as the sole parent for Miller, and raising his son on his own. His father's high ranking position in the guard made him very disciplined, and this was something he integrated into his parenting when it came to his son. When Miller was young, it made him incredibly close to his father, the two having a strong bond. But as Nathan got into his teenage years, he started rebel against his father's strict curfews and rules forced upon him. He saw him as more of a 'hard ass' rather than seeing the benefits of his discipline and strict guidelines. Miller started exceeding his curfews, not bothering to keep up with his studies, and engaging in more illegal activity on the Ark . . . such as stealing.
It was also assumed that Miller was going to be a guardsman, and Nathan wanted nothing more than to rebel against thisn assumption and prove it wrong. He began to steal more frequently, hoping to perfect this skill. His father tried to warn him off of this path, hoping it was just a phase Miller was going through, but feared the consequences should his son get caught. Which, Miller almost did one time . . . a time where he was nearly caught by his fellow classmate: Bryan. He knew the other male but not well, and doing what he could to talk himself out of that situation, hoping to distract Bryan. In the end, Miller only distracted himself by Bryan and one conversation led to a date, which eventually led to a strong romantic relationship between the two of them.
David hoped that Bryan would be a good influence on Miller, and he could already start to see a difference in his son. Unfortunately, the thrill of thievery got the best of Miller and he stole again, this time, for the last time on the Ark. He was caught by two other guardsman, immediately recognizing who Miller was . . . but not giving him special treatment. His father expected no less. David was devestated by his son's actions that landed him in the Skybox, his only hope of being pardoned diminished when Miller was sent down with the others. This was where Miller's life would take a drastic turn. Upon arrival he tended to blend into the background, not wanting others to know he was from Alpha, nor that his father was the highest ranking Guardsman, under Marcus Kane . . . for he was fairly certain that his father was most likely responsible for a few of the delinquents arrests.
Instead, Miller sided himself with Bellamy, believing in the other man's philosophies and leaderships styles. He became his second, and was a strong supporter in the war against Grounders. A war that led to Miller's eventual capture with so many others to Mount Weather. The horrors that ensued, the genocide committed, the ceasefire -- before which he was reunited with his father -- the finding of farm station -- where he was united with his partner -- and all the other events, would change and shape Miller's character, from being rebellious and slack, to someone who became more responsible and was in the forefront, ready to follow those who fight for what he believes is right.
