Artigas sat on his bunk and stared around at his surroundings, he hated it inside the bunker already and he'd barely been down there for a few weeks... Or at least he thought it had probably been weeks, it felt like months. He knew that there was nothing above ground for him, his home was gone, all evidence that people had once live out there had probably been wiped from existence, but he missed it. He missed the trees and the grass and the sound of the birds, he missed the colour of the sky and how it changed depending on what time of day it was- he missed everything about it, even things that he didn't think he'd end up missing... But he missed his father most of all. There was never a good time to receive bad news, but there had to be a better time than when you're preparing for the end of the world- that's what Artigas had been doing when he'd received news of his father's death. Artigas couldn't remember much of that day, he didn't remember who'd broken the news to him, he couldn't even recall the exact words they'd used... He supposed they'd tried to break it to him gently, but the news was the same. What he did remember was the mind numbing pain and the anger that threatened to consume his entire body afterwards and he wasn't even allowed the time to properly grieve his loss, they didn't have time- not when the world was falling apart around them.
In the bunker though... In the bunker there was nothing stopping him from allowing himself to feel everything. Artigas wanted to feel sad and he did, he missed his father- it was so incredibly unfair that he'd had both his parents taken from him when he was still so young, but what he really felt was anger. His father had died protecting Luna, an honourable death they'd called it and it was, but what had he really died for? He'd kept Luna alive for a little while longer and now she was dead anyway, his father had died for nothing. "Where's the honour in that?" the boy muttered bitterly to himself, what honour was there in death anyway? He didn't even have the chance to give his father a funeral. Getting to his feet quickly, he failed to remember the top bunk and was promptly reminded of it when his forehead collided with the metal surface and sent him falling to his knees, a string of expletives tumbling from his mouth as he clutched his head in his hands. Struggling to his feet, he noticed a figure standing in the doorway "get out!" he snapped at whoever it was, he wasn't in the mood. He didn't care if they had to pass through to reach their bunk, they could sleep in the hall for all he cared.

Artigas trusted her but it didn’t stop him from worrying, he just really wanted her mother and brother to like him. He had been willing to leave his clan and his family for her and he hoped that they could see just how much he loved Mariahya. Leaving everything behind and relocating to join another clan was a big deal and he would not have done it had he not loved her, he hoped that they could see it that way. Leaning into her touch when he felt her hand upon his cheek, Artigas smiled “I just want you to be happy, I want them to like me… Or at least see how I feel about you” he told her. Before he’d met her he’d had no idea that it was possible to love someone as much as he loved her and that just made it even more important for him to win over her family, because now that he’d found her, he didn’t want to leave her again and he didn’t think he’d be welcome if he tried to return to his village now that he had left his clan behind.
Her reluctance to leave the bed brought a laugh from Artigas, he’d never thought that he’d get to wake up next to her and now he got to experience first hand how she acted in the mornings. She was such a different person here than she was when he’d seen her dealing with her people the day before. He found himself falling deeper in love with her with every passing second that they spent together and he loved that he’d got to see the two different sides to her. “I don’t want to be” he muttered after she kissed him and he watched her climb out of the bed, although he doubted that that would be of any consolation. He forced himself to sit up and move to the edge of the bed, if he was in Tondc he would have been up hours ago, he couldn’t start to get lazy just because he was in a new place or just because he wanted to spend the mornings lounging in bed with Mari.
He watched as she got ready to leave, all too aware that their time alone would soon be at an end, even if he knew that if luck was on their side they’d have the rest of their lives together. As she turned to face him from her place in front of the mirror, he got to his feet, a smile appearing on his face as she spoke because all he wanted was for her to be happy, he wanted to bring her happiness and to keep her safe from harm… Even if he had no doubt about her ability to protect herself. Walking over to her from his place by the bed, he took her face gently in his hands and kissed her lips softly “you have no idea how happy it makes me to know that you’re happy” he breathed, laughing softly as he looked down at her.Mariahya

Artigas listened as the young woman spoke to him about how she was sorry that she couldn’t keep an eye on him and that she’d failed to take care of him “I’m not a child, I can look after myself” he answered her, knowing that although she was responsible for him, he wasn’t entirely dependent on her for protection. “We look after each other, that’s how things work, if a warrior falls then somebody else picks them up and makes them keep fighting” he told her knowing that leaving her behind was not an option for him, he didn’t think that he could live with himself if he’d abandoned her to die. “As long as your heart's still beating and there is still air in your lungs then as far as I’m concerned, your fight is not over” and she wasn’t allowed to give up, because she was trikru and trikru didn’t give up.
When Klara told him that she was an orphan and had no family, Artigas couldn’t help but feel sorry for the woman, especially when he had parents back in Tondc that loved him and made sure that he was safe. “Well… I’m your friend, so I guess that makes us family” he told her in an effort to cheer her up, he wasn’t sure if she was going to survive her injuries. She’d lost a lot of blood and from what he knew, blood was only useful when it stayed inside your body, it was already clear that she was struggling to stay conscious. Artigas didn’t know what he’d do if she died, he knew that getting her back to Tondc would increase her chances of survival but even healers had a limit on what they could save.Klara

Artigas didn't want to disappoint her, he wanted to make her happy and he knew that she really wanted him to meet her family. It meant a lot to her to be able to introduce him to the people that meant the most of her and no matter how nervous he was about meeting the people that had raised her, he didn't have the heart to turn her down. Smiling at her words he nodded his acceptance "then I guess I'm meeting your family today" he answered her, but saying it out loud didn't make the idea any less terrifying. He'd never been in this situation before, everyone in his village knew each other, so there was no need for anything like this to happen... Unless the person you loved came from a different village. "For the record, it was never their bite that I was worried about" there was a whole host of other things that concerned him about the situation. What if they didn't like him, he'd travelled all the way from his village to fine Mari but it would all mean nothing if her family disliked him, he wanted to be in her life but driving a rift between her and the people that she loved was not his intention and he wouldn't stick around if that's what his presence did.
He had no objections to her staying in bed for a couple more minutes, especially when she seemed to want to spend those minutes by his side. However, they couldn't stay in bed all day, especially when she was obviously a busy person... He didn't think it would be an easy task to try to lead people from their bed. "If we're to go see your mother, we've got to get up" he muttered, keeping his voice low so as to not surprise her. He placed a gentle kiss to the top of her head but made no attempt to move, allowing her to have the final say in whether or not they were to get up, if she wasn't ready to move from the bed then he would not force her to. It was impossible for him to be able to tell what it was going to be like for them after they left the bed. The bedroom was like their own little sanctuary, tucked away from the other villagers and when they left, Artigas would be faced with a whole community of new people who didn't know him and he didn't know how willingly they would accept him into their clan, they might see him as a threat, he didn't expect his life to be as comfortable amongst the Trishana people as it was when he was in Tondc, at least not at first.

When Mariahya told him that he hadn't woken her, Artigas was relieved that he hadn't disturbed her sleep but he was also slightly embarrassed that she'd heard him get up and walk around the room collecting his clothes. "I'm glad that I didn't wake you" he muttered and when she kissed him, he couldn't help but smile through the kiss. He was also glad that she'd managed to sleep well, even though she probably wasn't used to sharing her bed, he wasn't used to sharing his bed with anyone either and was pleasantly surprised by how well he'd managed to sleep. It seemed as though having her next to him helped him to sleep because he definitely felt more rested than he had in a while. Her suggestion made the smile disappear from his face, he knew that he'd have to meet her family eventually, he just hadn't thought that it'd be so soon. He was worried about meeting her mother and her brother, he couldn't help but think that they wouldn't like him, despite her claiming that they would. "If it'll make you happy then I'll meet them" he told her, the smile slowly made it's way back onto his face although it was smaller this time. He'd do anything to make her happy, he knew that much and if agreeing to meeting her family would make her happy then he was willing to do it, he just hoped that they approved of him.
"People to lead" he repeated her words as she buried her head into his chest. That would take some getting used to, the idea of her leading her people was hard to adjust to. The girl he'd met in the forest when he was a kid hadn't been a leader, not yet, she'd had the makings of a great leader in her but now she was the real deal. He wasn't keen on the idea of having to share her with her people but he'd get used to it, the more time he spent in Trishana, he was eager to learn their ways and adjust to their way of live and to see how they differed from Trikru. Hearing her whisper, the smile on his face broadened and he was sure that he'd never get bored with hearing those words from her "I love you too" he muttered, holding her close as he lay beside her. As the moments passed, the idea of leaving the bed grew less appealing but he knew that they'd have to move soon.

Artigas didn't want it to take time, he wanted his body to heal, he didn't want to be stuck in bed all day. At the same time, he wasn't about to attempt getting out of bed, if he somehow managed to make his injuries worse then it would only extend the amount of time he'd have to spend healing. When his father told him the number of people that had been killed in the attack on their village, Artigas could barely bring himself to look at his father. Seventeen of their people had been murdered, seventeen, maybe he would've felt differently if they'd been warriors but they were innocent people, people that never stood a chance at defending themselves, especially not against guns. "We did nothing wrong" were the first words out of his mouth when he finally lifted his gaze to look at his father once again. Skaikru had attacked first, they'd killed a man who'd been running away from them.
A memorial would be good for them to say goodbye to those that had died, Artigas wanted to say goodbye. They'd been aware of the risk that Skaikru posed to them, but Artigas had never imagined that they would walk into their village and take the lives of seventeen of their people. He didn't know how he was supposed to focus on healing when seventeen of the people that he knew had been killed in a place where they were supposed to feel safe. "Can I go to the memorial?" he asked his father, he wanted him to focus on healing, but surely he'd allow him to go, if he was feeling up to it. When the cup was offered to him, he leant forward to take a sip, grateful for the cool liquid as it seemed to wake him a little more and he found that he could focus a lot more on what was being said to him.

"Morning" he greeted her, once she'd spoken and he was sure that she was awake "sorry for waking you" he apologised, he felt slightly guilty for having to wake her but he knew that the guilt wouldn't last long, not when he could spend every waking moment in her company. He felt her hand in his and he looked down to look at their hands, giving hers a gentle squeeze as a smile appeared on his face. "Did you sleep well?" he'd definitely slept well, even if he was in an unfamiliar place, sleeping in an unfamiliar bed, having her beside him had helped him to sleep. She looked happy and that was reassuring to the man, he couldn't imagine ever making her unhappy, not on purpose at least.
When she said that she didn't want to get out of bed, Artigas couldn't help but laugh. He couldn't imagine spending the whole day in bed. If he slept in back in Trikru, it wouldn't be long before somebody came to wake him. He couldn't remember ever being allowed to spend the whole day in bed, only when he was seriously sick or injured and that was rare. "We can't stay in bed all day" he told her gently, hopefully it wasn't normal for trishana to sleep in, Artigas didn't think he'd ever be able to get used to that. He needed something to do, a job, some direction and he wouldn't find that by lying around in bed, even if it meant passing up the opportunity to spend more time alone with Mariahya before having to leave the room and attempting to fit into a clan that was so different from his own.
He let out a sigh and lay back on the bed beside her again "what are the plans for today?" he asked, turning on his side to face her, although her face was buried in the pillow so he wasn't sure if she'd heard him or not. He figured that she must've had plans before he arrived and probably disrupted everything that she'd had in mind. He wasn't exactly sorry for that, at least they were together now, they didn't have all of that distance separating them.

Artigas opened his eyes, lifting a hand to his face to shield his eyes from the early morning sun that lit up the room. Momentarily he forgot where he was and then it all came flooding back to him, propping himself up on his elbows, he looked around the room and it only confirmed that he was no longer in his home and the events of the day before had not been a dream. Glancing to the side, he looked to the space next to him in the bed and saw Mariahya still sleeping soundly next to him. He didn't want to disturb her, so as quietly as he could, he drew back the sheets that covered him and climbed out of the bed.
It didn't take him long to locate his clothes and he soundlessly crossed the room and began to dress himself, knowing that once he'd changed into his familiar clothes, he'd feel a lot more comfortable, especially if anyone were to disturb them now. He didn't bother to put on his armour, he had no need to wear it when he wasn't in danger of being attacked and he knew that he was perfectly safe staying there under Mariahya's protection, she'd already voiced how she wouldn't let her warriors harm him and he trusted her. He didn't know if she had plans already for that day, he knew that she was probably a busy person, especially when she had to lead her people and although he hoped that they could spend the day together, he was confident that he'd be able to find something else to occupy his time if she was busy.
Crossing back over to the bed, he sat down on the edge, watching her for a few moments before reaching over to place a hand gently onto her shoulder. He felt guilty about having to wake her, especially as he wasn't sure how long she usually got to sleep for, but he also knew that usually he'd be awake by now and he didn't know if it was late for her or she'd overslept like he had. "Mari" he called her name softly as he leant over the bed to her and softly shook her shoulder in an attempt to rouse her, hoping that he didn't scare her in the process.

Artigas really didn't want Klara to fall asleep, he was worried that if she slept then he'd be unable to wake her up later. He'd heard that could happen if a persons body started to shut down "sorry? Why are you sorry?" he questioned her, as he picked up the pace a little in an attempt to get Klara to safety sooner. "You don't have to be sorry, it's not your fault that you got hurt" it couldn't have been avoided. He had been the one to blow their cover in the first place, he should've been more careful, if he hadn't attempted to take on that warrior single handed then she wouldn't have even gotten hurt. "I don't mind carrying you, you're not heavy and it's the least I can do" he wasn't going to abandon her, he'd gotten her into this trouble and he was determined to get her out of it.
"You just need ton stay awake" he told her, repositioning his hold on her as he felt himself beginning to lose his grip, he made sure to shake her slightly in an attempt to keep her awake and maybe even force her to open her eyes. He knew that he'd feel much better if she could keep her eyes open, that way he'd know for sure that she was still awake and hadn't fallen asleep. "You have family back in Tondc? Friends?" the boy asked her, it was a poor attempt to keep her talking, at that moment he didn't care much for learning about her personal life, all that mattered in his mind was getting her back to Tondc alive.

Artigas was surprised when Klara began to sway as if she wasn't going to be able to stand for much longer and without thinking about it he gripped her tighter, to support her weight. His brow furrowed in concern as he realised that the task of escape had just gotten much more challenging, especially now that Klara couldn't stand upright properly. "Okay, I'm going to have to carry you" the boy explained to his companion after trying to think of another solution and being unable to think of one. He gripped Klara firmly and heaved her up into his arms with a grunt of effort, Artigas was only young, he wasn't as strong as most of the older warriors in their clan, but Klara was light enough for him to carry without much complaint."Sorry, it's not gonna be a pleasant ride for you" he muttered an apology, aware that with every step he took, it could jolt Klara and he really didn't want her to be sick because of the uneven movements, especially as he didn't want to end up covered in puke for the majority of the journey back. Peeking out from their hiding place, he checked to see if the coast was clear and when he noticed that the Azgeda warriors hadn't returned, he repositioned his hold on Klara to make sure that he didn't drop her before moving at a fast jog towards the tunnel. He didn't allow himself to relax, even after they'd reached the relative safety of the tunnel and he began to travel down it.

Artigas held Mari's gaze and smiled slightly when she placed his hand over where her heart was and he could feel it beating frantically within her chest. His smile faltered as he felt her guide his other hand behind her to where her dress was tied, but this was more out of nerves than out of an unwillingness to take the next step in their relationship. He didn't want to screw anything up with Mari, he didn't want to do something that might change the way she felt about him, he didn't know if that was possible but the possibility of it was enough to make him even more nervous than he already was.
His nerves seemed to evaporate as she leaned back up again on her toes to kiss him and the moment her lips met his, he pulled on the place where her dress was tied and allowed it to fall away. Artigas had never seen a woman wearing so little clothes before and he wasn't sure how to feel about it, part of him felt like he should feel uncomfortable, but another part of him wanted to close the gap between them and finally take the leap that he'd been too afraid to make before. Artigas instantly relaxed as his father hurried into the room and rushed to his bedside, it was a huge relief to see that he was safe. He could hear the emotion in his fathers voice as he spoke to him in trigedasleng and it dawned on the boy that his father must've been extremely worried after he'd been shot, especially since he'd lost consciousness almost immediately after sustaining the injury. As his father held him to him, Artigas couldn't help but clutch at his father and he took comfort in the closeness and the familiar scent of Nyko. He let of a breath that quivered slightly and he wasn't sure if it was from relief, the pain of his injury or some other emotion.
As Nyko drew him away from himself and cupped his face with his hands, Artigas couldn't help but smile weakly up at his father and scrunched his face up slightly as his father leaned forward to plant a kiss on his forehead. "How do you feel, my boy?" Artigas heard his father ask him and he met his fathers gaze as he realised that he was staring into his eyes. His hand went instinctively to his stomach as he focussed on the throbbing pain that he felt there "sore..." he admitted "but the pain is less than it was" whatever his father had done, it had lessened the pain and Artigas was grateful for that because he couldn't imagine waking up with the excruciating burning in his abdomen that he'd felt after he'd been shot. "You weren't hurt, were you?" he asked, a flicker of concern for his father appeared in his gaze as he asked the question. The man hadn't appeared to be injured when he'd entered the room, but Artigas knew that he hadn't been the only one that had been on the receiving end of the guns.
"How many did we lose?" he asked, swallowing back the lump that had formed in his throat. He could hear the gunfire as clearly now as if it was still taking place outside, even when he knew that it wasn't. The fact that the majority of the people who'd been in the village were elders and children just made the situation even more infuriating, knowing that they hadn't even had the chance to fight back.

Artigas knew that his life probably wouldn't be the same ever again now that he had found Mariahya again, but strangely he didn't mind. Not when it meant that he got to be with her, some might think it foolish for him to leave everything in Trikru behind just to chase after a girl, but Mari was different and he truly believed that he loved her. He felt relief more than anything else that she reciprocated his feelings, it meant that they could truly be together. They were in love and nothing would persuade him to think otherwise.
As he kissed her, he felt her hand on his cheek and he smiled through the kiss. It was the little things he loved, like the way it felt to feel her hands pressing softly against his cheek. He couldn't believe that he'd found this amazing woman and she loved him. If he'd stayed in his own territory that day instead of breaking all of the rules to explore, they never would have met and he wouldn't be in her room now. That was a scary thought, maybe rules were meant to be broken if it led him to amazing discoveries like Mariahya.
As Mari pulled away from him, ending the kiss and rested her forehead against his, he smiled at her. He noticed the blush on her cheeks and at her words, he slowly released his hold on her and lowered her so that she could stand once again on the ground. "We'll take it slow" he promised her, he was just as inexperienced as she was and that also meant that he was understandably nervous. He didn't have the first clue about what he was doing and that was a scary thought but he trusted Mari, he trusted her enough to be more open than he was with perhaps anyone back in Trikru.

‘Don’t worry… Anxiety isn’t good for health’ Klara’s words brought a quiet chuckle from the boy and he noticed the smile on her face. She was obviously trying to lighten the mood; it was ridiculous that she would comment on his anxiety in their current situation. It wasn’t unusual to feel anxious when in a life or death situation and Klara knew this. “There are a lot of things that aren’t good for your health in this situation” he muttered in response, but a smile still appeared on his face as he continued to peer out from their hiding place to see if the Azgeda warriors took the bait. He saw that the warriors’ attention instantly flickered in the direction of the noise that was caused by the pebbles that he’d thrown and Artigas waited anxiously to see if they would fall for their trick. After only a moment’s hesitation, the warriors ran off to check out the noise and Artigas let out the breath that he hadn’t realised he’d been holding. “It worked” he muttered as he turned back to Klara and helped her to stand upright once again “Do you think you can run over to the tunnel, or do I have to carry you?” he asked as he eyed the tunnel that they would have to run to, to avoid detection. Klara looked weak and he wasn’t sure if she still had the strength to run, even for just a short while.

Artigas knew that he wanted a future with Mariahya, that was the only thing that he was certain about in life and he knew that he wanted her family to like him. If they didn't then it wouldn't be the end of the world, it would affect how he felt for her and he hoped it wouldn't affect the way she felt about him but being accepted by her family would mean a lot to him especially when he knew how much they meant to her. Artigas was fairly confident that he own parents would love Mari, he didn't think that they would care that she was not Trikru and the only thing that would matter to them was his happiness and he hoped that they could see how happy Mari made him when he eventually got to introduce her to them.
As she bit her lip he found himself wishing that he could see inside her mind, wishing that he knew what she was thinking. He was grateful when she helped him readjust his grip on her and as he leaned his forehead against hers and their eyes met, he smiled back at her as he saw a smile appear on her face. Artigas was a naturally confident man, he'd never been eager to admit to being afraid of something and those that knew him knew that he was fearless when fighting in battle, but something was different with Mariahya. She made him feel weaker than he'd ever felt before, his heart raced when he touched her, the palms of his hands felt sweaty. She made him nervous and when he was around her it felt like all of the confidence had been drained from his body.
He felt her freeze in his arms and her eyes locked with his as he told her that he loved her and for one awful second he thought that he'd said the wrong thing, that maybe she didn't feel the same way about him as he did about her and then she smiled and all of the worry that he felt evaporated and he knew that he was wrong to doubt her feelings for him. I love you. Those three words made his heart rate pick up once again, even if he'd been the one to admit them first. A relieved smile appeared on his face as she leaned forwards and he felt her lips on his again.Mariahya
