Things were changing in Mount Weather and today was a big step in that. Bellamy Blake had finally completed the needed training and would be going out on his first mission with the Ground Unit. The importance of the step: He wouldn't need a hazmat suit like the rest of them. That fact would have a big impact on how the Ground Unit ran and would likely make a lot more things possible -- as well as making other things easier. Emerson was excited about this and it showed on his face as he suited up with the others in the team. Suiting up was a process that took time, with a lot of procedure to make sure that everything was done correctly. With the fact that most missions included spending multiple hours outside of Mount Weather's protection, any mistakes in the suit, any vulnerabilities, could lead to certain death. Emerson quite liked living, if he were to be honest. So he followed all the protocol and made sure the rest of his team did as well. Once everyone was suited up and ready to go, Emerson looked over at their newest team member and found himself feeling uneasy at the sight of him in his uniform rather than a suit like the rest of them. He almost wanted to ask Bellamy if he was sure he didn't want to wear a suit going to the Outside but he didn't allow the words to be said, knowing that any answer other than him being sure was something that would only erase all the potential that he held. Anyways, Emerson knew that Bellamy was safe to go out without the suit, it was just the unfamiliarity of it and his focus on that particular protocol that had him so unsure when he actually looked at Bellamy. The young man would be fine just like the rest of them, he was in all the safety equipment that he needed, just the the rest of them. So, with that new certainty in Emerson, he felt like everything was ready for them to all to begin the mission. It was a simple one, really, sweeping the area surrounding Mount Weather for any signs of Outsiders. It wasn't a mission that was common, just for the fact that their radars worked perfectly in detecting people but it was one that was done whenever someone knew joined their unit. It was simple and would give them the chance to just get used to a more prolonged time outside of Mount Weather's safe walls. "Are you ready?" Emerson specifically asked Bellamy, an encouraging smile on his face. As tough as the man could be on his guards, Emerson honestly cared for them, in that strong held way he cared for those close to him. He wasn't asking the question in any procedure but in politeness.
