we've all got a monster inside of us we're responsible for what is does when we let it out It was simple. His life for the rest of his people still caged. Lincoln had debated on what to do and came to the only logical conclusion and that was to give himself up in exchage for the safety and survival of his people. He couldn't allow them to die for what he had done - they had no part in trying to escape, that was on Lincoln.
Fate seemed content to intervene, not only with the help from Octavia and Kane but Bellamy as well. The older Blake had had a rough time and though Lincoln had been angry with him for killing the three hundred warriors, he did not hold that against him. When he saw Blake was now on their side, Lincoln embraced him like a brother and welcomed him back(in fact, his exact words were "welcome back brother").
Like Lincoln, Blake had only done what he thought was best for his people and he couldn't fault him for trying to protect those he cared for.
They were now on their way to the caves with Lincoln keeping his ears and eyes open for any sign of movement. He was used to keeping an eye out for approaching grounders, this was no different. The rest seemed to be on alert too, far more warrior like than when he had first met them. This world had changed them, some for the good and others for the bad.
Though he'd thanked Bellamy back in Arkadia, their main mission was to get out as quickly as possible without too many casualties. He'd been unable to say too much and now in the quiet woods he matched his pace with Bellamy, turning to face him as they moved. "You've done a lot for me and my people today. We won't ever forget it." Bellamy Blake

Tag: @linkon whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had never wanted this to happen. He had tried to warn them not to oppose Pike, but in Kane's attempt to do so . . . he got arrested. Him and Sinclair both. And the involvement of Lincoln, had sentenced the three of them to be executed. Bellamy had managed to convince Pike not to kill the sick Grounders as well, and he had complied. But he had not been able to convince the Chancellor to spare the others. Treason was a crime.
And while that may be following the laws set forth by their people, Bellamy couldn't just stand by and let it happen. His duty was to protect his people, not kill them. Kane, Sinclair and Lincoln were all his people. So he had worked to free them. It had taken Octavia some convincing but she finally agreed to let him help, knowing how much was at stake. Bellamy knew Pike's routines, he knew the security detail.
They had all been able to get out, alive, inclusive of the Grounders that had also been imprisoned. It was a massive risk, that they would go to the other Grounders and give them informative detail of their defenses from the inside . . . but it was a necessary risk. When considering all that was at stake. Lincoln had welcomed him back, calling him brother, and the word had made Bellamy's heart both swell and ache. He valued Lincoln, truly, as a brother and hated the strain that had been put in their relationship due to their opposing views.
But right now, he was alive, and that was all that mattered. They'd managed to get outside the gates, moving quickly on foot, able to slow their pace a little now that they were far away enough to do so, and nearing the caves. Bellamy knew he couldn't go back to Arkadia without punishment. And he hated the thought of leaving the people that were there.
Trying to keep his mind in the present, needing to be fully aware of their surroundings, he continued to clutch the gun in his hand, Lincoln's words prompting Bellamy to turn to look at him, before turning away once more. The Arker clenched his jaw, taking in the gratitude, but also knew that his views of Grounders had not significantly changed. They still betrayed his people, they were still a very real threat. And Bellamy wouldn't be remotely surprised if the Grounders released now, would do the same thing and betray his people.
"I never meant for it to come to this," Bellamy said, needing Lincoln to know that. He could never condone execution like this, for people he so deeply cared about. He looked at his brother of heart once more, hoping he saw the sincerity of his words, in his gaze. "Where will the others go?" He asked Lincoln, referring to the Grounders currently with them, needing to know of the details, his heart filled with fear over this decision. He didn't regret it. But trusting Grounders had never worked in his favor. He trusted Lincoln though, emphatically. So would believe what he told him, hoping for some reassurance that he could offer him.

((ooc// so, uhm, I posted this in the main board rather than AU. I've PMed the Ark to get it moved. I'm such an idiot)) He'd spoken in his native tongue to his people, letting them know that Bellamy was a friend and not a foe. He knew what their feelings were and so far they trusted him enough not to stick a knife in Bellamy's throat. Well, that would be a worse case scenario if they were fighters but they weren't and that was what made him protect them more. He glanced at them as they huddled together, keeping near Lincoln so that he could defend them yet far enough to keep out of earshot. Not that it mattered. They didn't speak English.
Lincoln turned his gaze back to his brother of the heart, the sincerity in his expression and he nodded his head. "I know." Though he believed the words to be true, he also knew that things had a way of turning out the way you didn't want them too. Taking Octavia to Luna, helping Bellamy in the mountain, the fight against the mountain men. Lincoln had never hated Bellamy - hated what his choices were but never the man himself. It was just something of how far would you go to protect the people you cared for? In this case it was him killing 300 of Lincoln's people and really, he should have expected such wariness.
Lexa had betrayed them once, all to protect her people. Skaikru had just returned the favor, even if they were part of the coalition. Well, used to be. He wasn't sure where Skaikru stood now, not with Pike having declared that it was invalid. Many of the newer Skaikru had dealings with Azgeda and then an army shows up without showing them that not all grounders were like Azgeda? No wonder things came together the way it did.
What was important was the here and now. Lincoln walked silently, his mind blazing with thoughts that were his to think
He'd already figured out where they would go. They weren't fighters, not in the true sense of the word and there was only one place for them. "They'll go to Luna. They'll be safe with her." Luna valued peace and so long as they didn't want to fight, they would always have a place there. She was a great friend and someone he admired; he valued the fact she had turned against their ways, choosing peace over violence much like him. Unlike him, she chose to do something about it whereas he was still stuck in the middle.

Tag: @linkon whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy listened as Lincoln explained that they would go to Luna. He had heard the name before, or at least when it came to Floukru. A clan spoken about when there was an upcoming battle at the dropship. Now, it seemed to be their only other option. And Lincoln's assurance that it was safe, was enough for Bellamy to accept it. Besides, it wasn't like they were safe anywhere else. Bellamy gave a bit of a nod, looking over at the group of Grounders before turning back to Lincoln. Bellamy knew that Octavia would go with him, and stay with him there. She didn't trust Bellamy anymore, and it was something he had to live with.
"The others," Bellamy said, looking over to his own group of people. Kane, Miller, Harper, Bryan, Sinclair. "Can they go as well? Just until things are safe again." Because right now, Arkadia was not safe for them. If they went back, they would be executed, just like Lincoln, Kane and Sinclair nearly had been. Bellamy couldn't take that risk with them. And Luna seemed to be the only other option. Especially with such unrest among Grounders and Arkers here. Lincoln's next question pulled Bellamy's gaze back to the brother of heart.
He couldn't remember the last time someone had asked him that. Perhaps it had been Pike, after Gena's death. "I'm fine," he answered numbly. The reflex answer that he always gave. He had to be fine. He had no other choice. "We should rest here for a little while. Then we'll head out. We can't stay in one place for too long." He didn't want to dwell on his emotions when there were bigger things to worry about. Besides, the others would be diligently looking for them. "Are you ok, Lincoln?" Bellamy asked, returning the question, hoping for a more honest answer than Bellamy had offered.

we've all got a monster inside of us we're responsible for what is does when we let it out Lincoln looked towards the others that Bellamy was referring to and although he wanted to be reassuring, there was a simple fact when dealing with Luna. He'd told O that Luna wouldn't risk the attention if they went to her. That had been when he had the kill order on him and every damn grounder would be hunting for his blood. Now it was Skaikru hunting Skaikru - they didn't know the lands and were far less of a threat because of their lower numbers. "She might. I can't say one way or another." Lincoln turned to look at Bellamy again. "If they were to go seeking refuge then you must know this. There is no fighting. She takes people in who are done with fighting. It'll be up to Luna to say whether or not they can stay."
One of the girls shivered, prompting one of the males to hand over his already worn jacket to keep her warm. His face betrayed the fact he was in pain still though he kept moving without a word. Cages had been no place for recovering. "No, you're not." Lincoln wasn't about to believe the words, not when he had been lying for so long, saying the exact same words in different points in his life. "We all have to live with what we've done and what we feel. Just don't let it eat you up." He turned to the grounders. "We rest for a while. But get ready to move at a moment's notice." Lincoln spoke in his native language.
It was dangerous to stay in one place for too long, especially this close too Arkadia still. What they really needed to do was cross over into Trikru territory. As far as he knew, his kill order had been lifted so he wasn't a danger to the group if they went into his clans territory.
"Those who can will keep guard." Lincoln basically offered himself as watch, he knew the terrain, he knew how to guard. Surprisingly. "I haven't been okay in a long while." Bellamy Blake
