Tag: @nate whatever THE HELL WE WANT Guns. Bellamy couldn't remember the last time he had so broadly smiled, than when he had found that stash of guns in the bunker. They finally stood a chance againts the damn Grounders. They finally could fight back in full force, not using this stupid ass weapons of axes and blades. They had real weapons. Weapons that Bellamy had proper training in. Finally, they could truly defend themselves. The guns were being kept in a secure location and this morning had consisted of gun training.
There were certain delinquents that Bellamy wanted to take up the training in particular; ones that showed promise. Everyone brought something different to the camp, each with their own skillset. But there were some who he believed would be good. They would be able to hold their own. An informal militia of sorts was forming and within that, Bellamy would need ranks. With today's training session over, Bellamy watched the crowd disperse, making sure to collec the guns that they had used.
Raven was still working on the bullets, but today had been more about safety, how to hold it, how to aim and how to be in full control. "Miller, hang back," he told him while letting the rest of the crowd go. Miller was someone who had earned Bellamy's trust -- and not because he had to control him. But because he had proved himself. With that in mind, Bellamy would offer the position of being his second of sorts. That if he was absent, Miller was to take over when it came to their defenses and militia.

Bellamy Blake Earth had looked so beautiful from up in space with the deep blues of the waters to the vibrant greens of the lands. He'd never expected to experience earth and yet here he was. He never expected to have to fight for his survival every day against people that wanted him and his friends dead for some reason he didn't know. And yet here he was. Though earth was beautiful down here as much as up in the skies, it was far more dangerous. His heart ached with the losses of those buried behind the drop ship and ached with knowing he would never see Bryan again.
May we meet again.
His mind had been on training, to help increase their chances of survival. Though he had been a thief, and that was what got him thrown in the Skybox, he also knew how to fight. His father was a guardsman, the sergeant even, and so it was only natural that Miller picked up some things from his father which he had helped pass along to his friends in camp. They all needed to know basic defense moves and basic offense moves. Granted most of those required someone to fight them hand to hand rather than throwing spears or shoot at them with arrows. Still, every little bit helped.
Right now that was more important. Not everyone here was a fighter or came from backgrounds that had fighting in it. Or more accurately, those whose backgrounds involved parents being in the guard. Some were farmers, some were builders, some were more medical. Those skills were all handy here on earth, but what also was handy was knowing how to fight. Their enemy wasn't going to give up and that meant they couldn't give up either. The idea of more bloodshed and more death wasn't something Miller took pleasure in though.
Once the bulk of the training was over for the day, Miller had been ready to leave, possibly talk to one of the girls who he thought had done well in todays training. Yet he didn't exactly get much of a chance when Bellamy told him to hang back. Curious, he remained in place while the rest of them left, leaving the pair alone. "What's up?"

Tag: @nate whatever THE HELL WE WANT G When Miller questioned what was up, Bellamy turned his attentions to the younger male. He had watched him during training. Hell, the former janitor watched everyone but he was keeping an eye out for those who showed particular promise. Bellamy didn't exactly advertise the fact that he used to be a cadet, close to completion in the guard program before officially joining the ranks. That, would not have gotten him anywhere when it came to gaining the support of the crowd. But it made him equipped to train the others. It gave him the necessary experience. . . especially when it came to guns. As most had never even held one prior to the ground. Miller's moves when it came to hand to hand combat showed technique; more than mindless and aimless throwing of ones fists. Which meant . . . he had some sort of familiarity when it came to combat.Atom hadn't. Murphy and John were more casual fighters, as one would fight 'on the streets', as was an old expression.
And now Miller, was the last one standing when it came to who Bellamy considered a good second would be. But it was not based on convenience that he would offer him the role. "How did you find training today?" He asked nonchalantly, wanting to hear what Miller had to say about it. Bellamy's leading of the sessions and awareness of others told him where they needed to improve. Where their strengths and weaknesses were. But he wanted to hear Miller's own thoughts about it. If Bellamy wasn't around . . . he'd need someone to lead the training sessions. And he wanted to find out of Miller was capable of that. Even if the older male had no intentions of leaving . . . anything was possible. And he wanted to leave someone he trusted in charge of the more, combat based aspect of leading the 100.

Bellamy Blake Miller wasn't one to lie and when the question came up about how training was, Miller would speak his mind on the subject. It would do no good to sugar coat it because that wouldn't get them anywhere. On the Ark it would have been fine because they weren't in a life or death situation where they needed to get better. "For what we have, it was good." They didn't have much in the way of proper training materials and seeing as how there wasn't any proper instructor, Miller thought they had done rather well for being at such a disadvantage.
"We still have a long way to go but it's a start. And right now that's important." He remembered hearing his father talking to some of the other guards about some of the new potential recruits and how they lacked potential. Miller had thought he understood the words except now on earth, his thoughts had changed. Everyone had potential to learn, even if it wasn't to become proper guards. Though some of the delinquents showed it was clear they'd never learned any moves and this was the first time in training, Miller had seen the potential in them.
It helped this was a life and death situation, that helped kick in potential and the survival instinct. They would survive this; they just had to! He'd spent all his life up in space and he wasn't about to die on earth when he'd seen only a small fraction of the planet that humanity once lived on. Plus, he really wasn't keen on dying this young. In fact, his plan had been to grow old with Bryan yet he'd learned that plans shifted as quickly as one could breathe.
Miller was sure that this wasn't the only reason why he'd been asked to hang back but he wasn't going to press the question. Bellamy would tell him when ready, but he was curious.

Tag: @nate Note: I have Bellamy sort of piece together who Miller is because of his father and Bellamy's temporary position as a Cadet! I can definitely edit this though if you prefer him not knowing! whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy listened to Miller explain that it was good for what they had, and that it was a decent start but that they had a long way to go. "I've been training some of you since we landed," Bellamy said with a bit of a nod. Some of those people were dead. One was banished. And the others . . . well, they were still around. "We need to be past a start. Especially with these guns.." Before, the training sessions had taken place with daggers, knives and axes. Now, they had real weapons. Once that they just needed to aim and fire with, rather than use upper body strength to throw with force.
Long range weapons would do them a hell of a lot of good. Especially once they set up their defenses. "Shoot to kill," Bellamy added on. Because when the war came to their homes . . . they would need to be ready. "How are you feeling about your own training?" Bellamy asked him, taking a cloth and starting to wipe up the end of the guns from where others had been practicing. "I take it you've gotten some on the Ark," he added on nonchalantly.
He didn't know how much Miller revealed about himself to others, but Bellamy had never used Miller's rank against him. He had used alpha rank against Clarke and Wells to rally the crowd in his favor . . . but never with Miller. With Bellamy's short time in the Guard, he knew Nathan's father was one of the ranking officials in there. But as previously established, Bellamy had no intention of airing out who his family was or what his position was on the Ark.

Bellamy Blake"For some, it's still a rough adjustment. I agree that we need to be beyond a start. Our survival depends on it. Still, this training usually takes the guards months to complete." He paused. "They'll learn guns faster I reckon." Guns was different from their usual weapons and hand to hand combat. All that was required was how to aim and then it was point, pull and repeat. Reloading wasn't exactly rocket science either and they didn't need to be strong to wield a gun.
Something triggered from memory. Something he had read or something his father had told him in what he had read. "If you've got the finger on the trigger you better be prepared to fire." He spoke distantly in remembrance before shaking his head to clear his thoughts. "Though I don't agree with killing, in this case we have no choice. They've shown they're willing to kill us. We have to defend ourselves at all costs. We have that right." He was not going to sit down and take death, he was going to fight.
"It's good to be doing something familiar but I'm a little out of shape. You offering to spare there Bellamy?" Miller was actually being serious. Bell was probably one of the few that could spare with Miller and it be of use rather than spare with someone who was a little weaker(even if he hated using that term for his friends). But that notion was swept away from his mind in seconds as Bellamy continued.
Miller couldn't help but freeze at the mention of his training on the Ark, not because he didn't trust Bellamy to yell it to the world but because it felt like he'd been punched in the gut. His father had taught him bits and pieces and the information just served to remind him he would never see his father again. He'd let his dad down by stealing and getting caught and he knew how disappointed his dad was. All he could say was he was sorry because he truly was. "Yes, my father taught me. I was to follow in his footsteps until I ended up here. Guess I'm not like him after all."
He gave a chuckle that was tinged with inner pain. When it came to his fear and hurts, he would often use sarcasm and humor to deflect it off him.
ooc// aww, Miller is hurting *sobs* and that is totally fine with us! <3

Tag: @nate whatever THE HELL WE WANT Rough adjustment. He got that right. This whole landing was an adjustment for everyone. They had feared the Earth wouldn't be survivable because of radiation . . . they had not been prepared to deal with another kind of enemy. Bellamy wondered what the hell the Ark was thinking. Sending them down with such limited provisions. They had sent them here to die. Either way. "Well, let's just saying we're doing the accelerated program," Bellamy stated. His words would have been a joke had there not been truth to them. It was also true that they would learn fast; they had to. And using a gun allowed them the long range weapons they needed. It was easier to fire a weapon than to stab a person. Not that either was technically easier . . . taking a life was never easy.
Bellamy listened to Miller state something, as his mind appeared to be elsewhere. "In this case, damn right," Bellamy agreed. Killing wasn't something that Bellamy agreed with either . . . but this called for special circumstances. "It's kill or be killed," Bellamy stated in agreement. "They made that pretty clear. All we can do is defend ourselves when they bring the battle to us." Because Bellamy wasn't going to send their people out there for a pre-emptive strike. They didn't have the numbers, weapons, training, knowledge of the terrain and so on. This was about defending themselves and the home that they had built. Bellamy looked over Miller as he told him he was out of shape, questioning whether he wanted to spar with him.
"Soon enough," he told him. "Gotta find out for myself what sort of shape you're in," he teased. Miller then confirmed the fact that his father had taught him, until he wound up here. His father was a high ranking official in the guard, so Bellamy supposed that he hadn't anticipated that his son would end up in the sky box. But it wasn't the focus of Bellamy's reason for asking. Even though he welcomed Miller opening up about his family. "Maybe you are," he began to tell him.
"Maybe down here you have a chance to use what you know. Use what he taught you, and protect the others." Bellamy put a hand on Miller's shoulder in reassurance. "This is your opportunity to do that, Miller. To make him proud." Despite Bellamy's campaign to stop the rest of the Ark from coming down . . . he knew now that the others had family up there. It only weighed more heavily on the male's conscience, knowing that he was responsible for the culling; for killing the families of the Arkers down here that he now vowed to protect. All he could hope, was that Miller's father was not among them.
