This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGHarper continued smiling as Gena added on to her story, mentioning that Bellamy still come around to help her clean up the puke sometimes. In a way, Harper couldn't actually imagine Bell doing something like that, the way he had taken up the leader role at the Dropship, the way he was such a fighter but that almost explained why he would do something. He was the type to get in there and do things, and yes, he was pretty good looking too as Gena mentioned. Harper couldn't help the smirk on her face at that comment. She had hooked up with Bellamy back in the early days on Earth and while she held no interest in him now, she could still appreciate just how strong, firm, and handsome his body was. "He really is a big softy," Harper said, agreeing with Gena on that. Leaving out the other thoughts in her mind. "I'm glad you two are happy."
When the subject was turned back in Harper's direction, she found herself pausing for a moment, thinking of what she could say. She knew who she could mention, without a doubt there was a person in her life that had managed to impress Harper. Her smile became softer at the thought. "There's Monty," she said, obvious affection in her voice at the mention of his name. "We ended up sticking together for a lot of the stuff in Mount Weather, and he was there for me after I got... uh, drilled." Her voice got notably quieter there and she looked down at the bar for a moment before bringing her attention back up to Gena with a fresh smile. The drilling had been long enough ago, all the hell that Mount Weather had been, but any thought of it still affected Harper more than she ever wanted to admit.
But she was getting better and better at shaking herself out of moods before they could really grab hold of her, at least when she was around other people. Thinking about and talking about Monty was definitely a good way to distract her from the bad thoughts, since the guy managed to always make her smile and calmed her down in a way she wasn't sure she understood but absolutely loved. "We've been on a couple dates now, actually." They had been the best way ever to get her mind off of training for periods of time. Harper picked up the new drink that Gena had prepared for her and took a sip. "Some boys have a way in impressing us, huh?" |

Gena giggled as Harper mentioned Monty. Monty was a sweet kid. Wasn’t he even younger than her? She thought so, but she couldn’t be sure since she actually had no idea how old Harper truly was. Monty was an impressive boy. She knew he was stupidly clever, a genius really. She knew he had a hand in defeating at least one beg enemy, if now two. She knew Monty was kind and he deserved someone in his life he could connect with. Like it seemed to be the case with Harper. Back on the Ark she would have considered them an unlikely pair, maybe even grinned about them, because that was the kind of story she loved. Dow here unlikely was the norm. Hell she was in an unlikely relationship herself, if you only looked at it from the knowledge gathered on the ground. Gena placed a new drink in front of Harper.
“Monty is an absolute sweetheart. I’ve seen the way he looks at you. He certainly holds great affection for you.” And respect. In a world like this, full of violence and pain, it was great to see someone look at someone else with such warmth and care. She didn’t know how they did it, but it was wonderful to see. “You two deserve this happiness.” And more. She knew the dates they went on were harmless – or well she assumed that, knowing Monty a bit from farm. “You know, maybe you should take him out sometime.” She suggested. She knew harmless and sweet was good. But sometimes people just had to go for it, really get into it and let themselves float and feel. @harpermcintyre

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGIt was sweet to hear that Gena had noticed the fact that Monty liked Harper. She remembered back to when she asked him on their first date, her bad timing of going to see him at night and thinking that he would still be awake like a lot of the others were. The way she had felt nervous -- only for the fact that she had already had to put pff asking him for multiple days due to late nights -- and she had definitely held no certainty that he even liked her the way she liked him. It had been a jump into the deep end but one that had paid off completely. Looking back, Harper could hardly believe that she hadn't known he had liked her, it seemed so obvious now. Apparently it was also obvious to others around them, even those that weren't the closest to the pair. Although Harper had a feeling being in Gena's job made you notice things, especially emotions and such. It would be smart to be able to pick out someone angry and likely to be violent before the fight started and the guards had to be called, Harper guessed.
Skills in the regard of reading people might cross over in their extremely different jobs. "Thanks," Harper said, complete sincerity in her voice. What Gena said was nice to hear, even when Harper sometimes had trouble feeling happy and had nightmares that left her feeling nothing but worry and fear. To have something as positive as her relationship with Monty was difficult at times due to that but completely worth it, no questions about that. "Outside the camp?" Harper asked, making sure she understood the question correctly. That was an idea. There were so many things that Harper could think of that would be great to do for a date and yet, there was still that uncertainty about whether it was really safe to go out for something fun. Even with the ceasefire that was going.
Harper shrugged her shoulders, not giving any certain answer. "Maybe." She appreciated the fact that Gena suggested it, even if she wasn't too sure about the idea. Taking another sip of her drink, Harper wondered if Gena had much experience with going outside the camp. She couldn't imagine that her job would take her outside and while people could go out, they just didn't tend to. Not unless they were on the guard or had some reason to. "Have you been outside?" Harper asked once she put her glass back onto the bar. "With Bellamy?" she added, because that would probably make a little more sense than her going out on her own. "There are some really beautiful things on Earth, for a place that can really suck." |

That was a good question. Gena smiled knowlingly. That alone was to many answer in itself. Yes, she had been outside before. The full story for it was not cut out for everyone. It had a certain private quality to it. But the general idea of it, that she could share. Gena poured herself a glass of water – all other beverages were for the guests, but she needed water during work, like any other. Before she answered she drank, taking a moment. To remember what happened back then. It was a beautiful day.
“There is a lake not far from here. Some of the sweetest berries grow there. I go there to collect them for the food and the drinks.” That explained the why she went out often at least. “The lake are actually hot springs. They’re not actually hot, but the perfect temperature for a bath. So Bellamy and I were there once to… relax and let me tell you a bath there, with a partner does relax you more than you can imagine – especially if you’re all alone with him.” Was that hint enough? Anyway she would not go in depth about it. “Monty might enjoy the well, too. And you.”

This is my Fight Song--TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG, PROVE I'M ALRIGHT SONGNo, when Gena spoke, explaining about the berries that grew near the lake that were collected for drinks and food, it made a lot more sense to Harper for Gena to have been outside on her own rather than with Bellamy. It also caused a bit of a shift in how Harper viewed Gena. She was one of the people that went outside, at least on a semi-regular basis. There were a lot of people in the camp that Harper knew would never dare to take a step outside the gate, no matter how certain they were that the grounders wouldn't hurt them. No one was ever certain about that, though. A lot of people saw and knew just how dangerous the Earth could be and Harper respected their choice to stay inside the safety of the camp's fence. Sometimes she wished she could have that same life, but she was well and truly committed to the life she had now.
Hot springs. Harper couldn't exactly remember if she had found those before on her travels outside the camp. There were a few different water sources less than a day's walk from the camp and so Harper didn't know all of them too well, and she definitely hadn't tested the temperature of them all. Her face shifted into a smirk as Gena continued to speak. She took another sip of her drink, easily understanding what Gena was trying to hint at. If she could even really call what Gena was doing "hinting." It was more spelling it out than hinting. "It sounds very relaxing," Harper said, the smirk still on her lips. "You've definitely found a beautiful thing on Earth." And Harper could see the appeal. Maybe once her and Monty had been together a bit longer they could go there, it was an idea at the least. "You should show me where they are sometimes, we could relax in a lot more friendly of a way." |

Gena actually giggled at Harpers reaction. The girl understood very well. But other than those activities, taking a bath in them was actually relaxing. She found it much easier to work out kinks in hers and Bellamys muscles while submerged in the warm water. But the place was outside, it wouldn’t serve many people. It was within the perimeter the grounders kinda set for them, so it was relatively safe, but not safe enough for most. “Oh I didn’t find them. Bellamy did. I think he mapped them down once.” Just not as hot springs. That was information medical might need.
“I can show it to you tomorrow if you want. I need to go out and so far I haven’t found a guard to come with me.” But she needed a guard to join her to be permitted to go out. Or well she needed at least one person who could protect her and or report back to Arkadia in case something happened to her. She understood why it was needed. But at the same time it felt like too much. They had to get used to this place. They had to become part of earth.
