Marcus stood near the gate and watched for a sign that Bellamy Blake was coming back. This was taking too long. They had agreed that he would go and speak to them, because he had built a connection that could prove useful in letting them hear the offer. As the hour turned longer, Marcus begun to wonder if they had just killed him rather then hear him--but then he finally saw a figure walking their way. "Hold your fire." He ordered, waiting for them to get closer. Once he knew it was Bellamy, and he was alone, Marcus gave the order to open the gate and to lower weapons. He even walked out to greet him. "Did they take the deal?" He asked, hoping that it was a quick answer of a yes rather than a no. He might even take a complicated yes, as long as they were not asking them to kill someone like they had with Finn. If they did then the Ark was looking at a war to keep Clarke, unless they could pull another miracle. And Marcus didn't know how many more miracles he could expect.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy's mind was reeling. The deal that had been agreed upon was both good and bad. A victory and a defeat. But what other choice did they have? The Arkers could not manage another war right now, especially against an army as large as the Ice Nation's. So if this was the only way to ensure peace, then so be it. His mind just kept working over things, trying to figure out what needed to be said before he left, the fear of leaving people behind. He didn't want to abandon them, but this was necessary.
Besides, all he could do was hope that there would somehow be a way out of it . . . eventually. He belonged with his people, not the Azgeda, but he would also not betray his words. He would honor the deal, as much as he could. Bellamy walked right through the gate as Marcus asked whether they took the deal. "Sort of," he answered. He had to give some sort of response to know that it was at least partially a success. "I need to talk to you in private though," he added on. He was not going to publicly announce the conditions of the deal. But it was something he had to inform Marcus of. And then, he would need to tell others. Like Clarke. His friends. And of course, his sister. That, was going to be the hardest one of all.

Sort of? That wasn't a yes, but that sure as hell wasn't a no. Marcus was getting really tired of the way grounders were having the power. He was beginning to think that they would be better off going to get Mount Weather's weapons, and using them to protect themselves. Not the fog, but the missiles. Just having it would be a good deterrent from the grounder armies coming back here--though it would also be a good way to make the people want to use it, and thus make things worse.
Which was why he nodded, at Bellamy and turned to walk them toward the council chambers. He was going to have to trust that for now, Bellamy had done all he could. And Marcus did trust Bellamy--perhaps more then the others. He had proven himself loyal, resourceful, and capable of leadership in ways that Marcus had not expected. He reminded Marcus of Aurora, in many ways. Bellamy kept his head in intense settings, made choices that were most likely to save everyone, and unlike how the Ark had tried to turn in to, he was not ruthless. It was rare there was leaders who had such connection and love for the people that looked to them. He'd not seen it before in his time.
Once they were int he room, Marcus shut the door and moved to stand int he room. He wouldn't sit for this. Good news would have been dealt with a 'yes' at the gate. He didn't think it would be bad news, but he wondered what price the ice nation would ask them to pay for Clarke's life. "Alright, lets hear their counter offer." He only hoped it was something they could afford to pay.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy actually felt nerves at the pit of his stomach for having to tell Marcus this. He highly respected the man and could understand why others did too. He did what he had to in order to ensure everyones survival. Bellamy had never quite realize just how much he had in common with him . . . until he got to know him. That opportunity was given to him these past several weeks. The culling was something they both felt equally guilty over, and that was one of the first things that had made Bellamy realize how alike they were. Hell, he could even see the man being somewhat of a father figure for him. His trust and faith in Marcus was also what made Bellamy willing to take this deal.
Because he trusted him with his people; with the delinquents, with the Arkers. Kane asked one question; so simply phrased and yet so very important. There was no beating around the bush. The older Blake sibling just had to come out and say it. "That I go with them to be a part of their army targeting the Commander." Those were the conditions to the deal. That ws what he had already agreed to. And he knew that he had to say that as well before Marcus considered the different possibilities.
There was no time for that. Bellamy had not been granted the time to consider. He had to make a decision right then and there, and so he decided what would be best for his people. What could finally put them all at peace, or at least be the first step of doing so. "I agreed to it." His voice was steady, stoic, strong. "I leave tomorrow." And that was all there was to it. Clarke, and the Arkers would be safe from the wrath of the Ice Nation. That was one less army they had to worry about.
