It was a rare night to be alone-ish. Octavia was sound asleep, claiming one of the beds entirely, it seemed, at least for the moment, Bellamy was still at work as a guard cadet and it might be a while until he came home – or he might get to finish early, after all he basically had the talent to be a guard in his genes, without his own knowledge. Tonight was one of those nights where Aurora could allow herself to dwell in memories a bit, in her longing. She had one thing recorded. As their portable was not really good for storing a lot and most of it was for the kids, she had dared to record a speech, had hoped neither Octavia nor Bellamy would discover it. So far she was successful.
Aurora had settle in a chair, an old blanket wrapped around her and the little screen propped up against her sewing box. It was the second time she replayed the speech. She never even really listened to what Marcus Kane was saying. She watched him more than listening, while, yes, his voice brought her some level of peace, it was his mannerisms that changed the least. He was all business, but he was still himself. Aurora paused the grainy image when he just smiled for a split second. If only she could actually trace his smile again, but that was entirely impossible now. There was no way she could ever allow anything to happen between them again. She had Octavia to think about and his own life. Their love story was over for good. Deciding to have her daughter came with that price, yet she couldn’t bring herself to regret it.
