@mikha A little rambling but it's still a post. Yay for the first canon pre-s1 MW thread! The wardrobe doors sat open as Isaiah stared at the three button up shirts he owned. It was stupid, he knew, to have been standing there for as long as he did with not a clue on what to wear. It wasn't like him at all. Still, he stood there, his eyes moving from one shirt to another as the decision overwhelmed him. It was a new situation, he had to admit and that was what left him as lost and indecisive as he was. He took in a deep breath, letting his eyes shut for a moment. It was just a party. While Isaiah was not the biggest fan of parties, while he tended to prefer quieter events, it definitely wouldn't be the first one he had been dragged to. The only difference in this situation was that he had made the decision himself to go. And he was going for a girl. There was also that.
So that was why his decision was so difficult, and he hated admitting that to himself. It felt so out of character for Isaiah. He was calm, he was collected, and his main interests were in his studies and in his friends. A girl had not been part of the plan. But still, he knew his parents at least would be happy, as would his friends. Everyone but him seemed to have an interest in making sure he dated. It was utterly stupid, to think that everyone else was so interested his own life like that but Isaiah was usually good at brushing that off. Now it was just sad that they could get what they wanted, if the girl he was interested in held any interest towards him.
Opening his eyes again, Isaiah picked one shirt, the one that looked the least worn and slid his arms into the sleeves. As he buttoned up the shirt he walked over to the desk in his room, picking up his belt to put on once his shirt was tucked in. It was just a party. That was what he kept telling himself, using the words as an attempt to calm his anxieties. Once dressed, Isaiah walked out of his small bedroom and managed to get out of the apartment without running into his parents. He knew he was dressed nicer than normal. He knew they would ask questions. He walked with a brisk pace towards the mess hall, where he had been told the party would be. A weird enough place that it seemed "cool" yet still public enough that it could be monitored by the adults. Like everything in the mountain was.
When Isaiah arrived at the mess hall he automatically looked around the room in search of familiar faces. He saw one of his friends sitting at a table, laughing with some unfamiliar people. It wasn't difficult to make a decision not to go over to that table. So he continued looking, not needing to look for long before he found Maya. She looked beautiful, but then she always did. Isaiah couldn't remember a time when he had thought of her as anything but. It took him a moment to get the confidence to walk over to her. Again, he found that stupid. Not being nervous about talking to a person but being nervous about talking to her. She wasn't a stranger and he had talked to her before with no issue. His heart was even beating in his chest faster than it should have been. Reminding himself of the fact he didn't need to listen to his anxieties, he got up the confidence to walk over to her. "Hi Maya." |

Maya was sitting quietly watching everyone else. She was not one to join into a lot of things that the popular kids did, though she herself was one of them in a sense. She was one that treated others the same whether they were popular or not and she hated to see anyone left out. Considering the fact that she accepted everyone, she saw no one as being unpopular or popular for that matter. They were just friends, plain and simple. She took a sip of her water and then grabbed another bite of her pizza and she watched everyone laughing and having a good time, nodding every so often when she heard someone say hi to her.
She had taken care to dress nicely tonight and even tried to control the frizzy hair upon the top of her head. She had finally gotten it into some semblance of fashion and set off to the mess hall herself. she had a friendly shy way about her and she tried to force herself to be outgoing, but had not been easy for her. She didn't have a low self esteem or anything like that. She was just basically shy. Her eyes suddenly caught Isaiah as he entered the mess hall. She had been paying attention to him for some time and she kind of thought he was cute. Well, that wasn't true. He was very good looking actually. But she was not about to let him know she had a crush on him. When he spotted her she smiled and wiped her mouth. She didn't want to have tomato sauce on her lips when he came over.
"Hi, Iah, how are you? would you like to join me?"
She replied to his hello with a warm smile and motioned for him to sit down as she spoke. There was whole pizza beside her, but she was not eating it very quickly and she was more than happy to share. She hoped he would join her, even though she felt shy around him. She wondered it that was because she liked him. But then that was what she would try and find out if she could. But right now she just wanted to talk and that was fine with her. Things would happen if it was meant to. It was strange how everything and everyone at the party seemed to fade into the background as she focused on Iah and wondered why she was feeling such a thing but she decided not to worry about it and just enjoy his company, provided that he stayed to visit with her.

@mikha It was hard for Isaiah not to look at Maya, to let his eyes graze over every part of her. The dress she was wearing had to be the most beautiful dress he had ever seen, only more so because it was on her. It was obvious that Maya had put effort into her appearance for the night just as Isaiah had. The dress, the hair...even her skin seemed to glow somewhat brighter than it normally did. That could have been the lights, though. Her hair was up rather than down as it usually was. That part was the part that Isaiah was the least happy about. He loved Maya's hair, as much as he had sometimes heard bad words said of it. But as much as Isaiah wanted to look at her, once he was standing near her he made sure to keep his eyes on her face. That was polite, at least that was what he had been taught to be polite, and he didn't want to be anything but.
There was relief to the fact that Maya was smiling upon his greeting and Isaiah let himself relax into a smile as she spoke. Thankfully, he noticed her gesture for him to sit and he turned to pull out a chair from the table. He could almost feel his stomach jump at the sight of the pizza, realising how hungry he was. Knowing that there would be food at the party, Isaiah had skipped dinner. Part of him wondered if he would have been so willing to sit with her if the pizza hadn't been there. He was sure he would have been. Once he was sitting, he focused his attention back on Maya. Momentarily he was distracted by the smile on her face and the way her eyes lit up with sincerity. He loved to take notice of things like that. "I'm feeling great now," he answered her, honesty to his words as often was the case. "A bit hungry though," he added. At that he grinned and picked up a piece of pizza. "And how are you?" |

Maya gazed at Isaiah a moment as she smiled at him. She loved watching him grab a slice of pizza as she knew he was hungry. She had been watching him for some time, he was kind of cute and her thoughts were about him lately, but she would never have said anything and she knew it. She glanced down and took another small bite of her own slice even though she wasn't really hungry. She just didn't want to look out of place while everyone was having fun. She wiped her mouth with the cloth napkin in front of her. I was worn through like most of their other things. But she knew that they were lucky to have the clothing and things that they did. They were vintage in a way. Passed down from generation to generation. But she knew that was just how things were. Clothing didn't make you who you were. It definitely didn't define you, though it was nice to look your best once in awhile. She took a sip of water and looked up at him once more.
"I feel really good. It is nice to get out and socialize once in awhile. I am glad you are doing well."
She relaxed a bit, but not enough to look disinterested. She was very interested in what Iah had to say, enough that she was paying close attention to him and had completely forgotten that others were even around them. She hoped that he would get enough to eat and fill him up. She tilted her head and watched him as they talked back and forth. Though she was trying hard to keep her eyes off of his muscles. The fact that he was a farmer made it hard for Maya not to notice such things. She forced her eyes to remain on his as she tried to keep his muscle off her her mind. Boy she was having naughty thoughts tonight what was wrong with her? She wasn't normally like this. Taking a deep breath she tried to clear her mind from her wicked thoughts and just pay attention to Iah as he is talking to her.

Isaiah is a worrying little idiot.
It didn't take long for Isaiah to finish a piece of pizza, chewing as Maya did and then as she spoke. It was good pizza. He also found himself paying attention to the tastes of some of the vegetables, like the onion, and thinking how he had helped to harvest the onions the week before as part of the training he had been completing. Harvesting had seemed like a simple task to Isaiah until he had been told to start checking the vegetables for any flaws or deformities that could have made them bad for eating. He did wonder what they did with vegetables that couldn't be eaten but he hadn't been bothered to ask. Remembering where he was, Isaiah blinked and got out of his head. His training with the farmers was definitely the thing that took up the most space in Isaiah's head. But Maya. He was with her and he needed to keep his attention focused on her. She deserved his undivided attention, that was for sure.
Going back over her words in his head, he spoke. "Yeah, it is. Otherwise school becomes the only thing we think about." He chuckled. Glancing down at the pizza, still almost whole, Isaiah suddenly wondered if she was expecting someone else to come sit with her. Why else would she have had so much food with her? In his want to talk to her because of the silly crush he had for her, he hadn't even thought about something like that. She had asked him to join her but still... Isaiah's smile faded from his face and he kept his eyes on the pizza. "Were you, ah, expecting someone else?" he asked, gesturing at the pizza. "That's a lot of food for one person." After saying that, Isaiah wondered if it was even the polite thing to say. Sometimes he really didn't know and he guessed it didn't matter too much. As much as he seemed to have feelings towards Maya, he doubted that she would have anything similar towards him. They were friends, after all. |

Maya knew only too well what her thoughts were on most of the time in school. She herself was studying the human anatomy. Not that it was a complex part she was learning. Just the basics. But she had the choice to either work in the cafeteria or in the medical unit and she decided the medical unit would be more interesting. Today she learned that it came with it's dangers. But then she was okay with that. She would rather help people than feed them. She nodded at his reply and laughed softly.
"Tell me about it. If I have to look at one more picture of an ear canal I will go absolutely crazy. Monday I have labs and I don't want to take them."
She looked down at her hands shyly when she realized that she had a small crush on Iah and smiled again. He was so adorable with those big brown eyes and the beard well, it was hot. She could not help glancing at it as her head went down. What was wrong with her? Suddenly she was becoming all shy in front of him. Maya normally wasn't that shy around people. For the most part. But then she could not help the fact that she was feeling it all the same. She remembered suddenly that he had asked about the pizza and glanced at it.
"Oh the cafeteria just placed it on the table when I sat here. I didn't order the whole thing. I guess they thought that it would eventually get eaten."
She was not a big eater most of the time. But she did like her chocolate cake. There was a slice beside her and a couple of forks. She smiled and handed him a fork and put the cake in the middle of the table as a mischievous looked appeared in her eyes. She didn't mind sharing and since her slice of pizza was gone she was almost full anyway. Plus she knew that he might like something sweet.
"Want some. There is plenty. You can eat all the pizza you want too. This is a party! There is no specific order to eat food." Isaiah Riggs

@mikha Always cake. XD Isaiah wasn't sure he had ever really seen a picture of an ear canal but now he was sure he didn't want to, if it sounded as bad as Maya made it sound. But then, maybe he did. A part of him wanted to learn about what Maya was learning about, to get to know her more in that way. That wouldn't be a very logical thing to do, however, all his study time needed to be put into farming. The mechanics of hydroponic farming weren't too difficult to get the hang of but learning about all the different plants they grew, all the ways to look after them, how to plant, to harvest, to protect from pests and viruses that still managed to exist even in a bunker...Isaiah had not been prepared for just how much work would need to be put into study to work in agriculture. Spending any time studying something else for fun or for someone else would be stupid, to put it bluntly.
He could easily encourage her, though. "I'm sure you'll do great, if this is what you love." And even if she didn't particularly like the medical field, Isaiah was sure she would still do well. If there was one thing that he knew about her for sure, it was that she was smart. He liked that about her and it was part of the reason his feeling for her had sparked up. "You're smart." His eyes widened as the words came out of his mouth and he looked down at the pizza. He had not meant to say that out loud. Hopefully she wouldn't think him weird for saying that. There was no way he had intended it, he wasn't even sure what he was intending to do with her but he just knew that he held none of the confidence to actually let her know his feelings. A compliment like that shouldn't be a big deal anyway, he decided. It would be fine.
He looked up at her again when she answered his question about the pizza, a little too much relief at hearing the words. His worry about whether she was expecting someone else fading even though he now held more worry about her reading too much into a tiny compliment he had given her. Isaiah wasn't quite sure if he knew how to not worry. When Maya handed him a fork, he just took it without question and watched as she pushed the slice of cake - he hadn't even noticed it before, too interested in the pizza and, well, Maya - into the centre of the table. He gave a light laugh at her comment and followed that with a shrug as he lifted his fork towards the cake. "I have a feeling one of the chefs really likes baking cakes," he joked before slicing his fork into the cake to eat some. "Not that anyone would ever complain about that," he added. He loved cake and he didn't think he'd ever heard of a person not loving it. |

Maya laughed slightly at his remarks. She really wasn't fond of the medical aspect, but she was smart and learning it was a necessity for her as she wanted to be able to help others. She was more of a people person than anything. Isaiah was making it easy to enjoy his company and that made her happy. She picked up her own fork and took a bite of cake. Her thoughts going to the things he said. She really had to think about it. When she answered it was still a positive statement. "I like the thought of helping others. There is a lot to learn and being healthy is important. I love to make other happy. So yes, I guess I will enjoy it."She took another small bite of the sugary cake. Her eyes were shining as she smiled at Iah, she set her fork down and took a drink of water as she laughed again. She looked into Isaiah's eyes and winked. She knew that he like it as much as she did and he was so right about the cook enjoying baking cakes. The cook knew that sometimes a little something sweet made all the difference in a world like there's. It was something that could brighten someones day after things have gone bad. This world wasn't really the happiest and she knew it. She was making the best of what was given her and so was the cook. "The cook loves baking cakes. I guess they think it is like baking a little bit of love."She wondered about going for a walk with Iah to possibly show him the medical unit. She knew that he had been in the regular, but the was another part that very few knew about. Could she trust him? She would have to see. She hoped that he would be interested and trustworthy. She wasn't sure if he knew where his life force was coming from. She needed an opinion of someone that she could trust and he seemed to be that person. She bit her bottom lip and tilted her head. Her eyes looking slightly worried. "Can I trust you? I want to show you something...."

@mikha They're cuties though. At the fact that Maya didn't seemed fazed by his compliment, Isaiah was relieved and let some of his worry go. It really was pointless and the chances of him doing something stupid that she would actually care about were probably quite slim. Then, as much as he put logic into it, it still didn't help with his emotions and did hardly nothing to calm the nerves that all but multiplied at just the sight of Maya, let alone now when he was interacting with her. He watched her as she ate some cake, taking another bite himself as she did. It was good cake but then the cake was always good. He hoped the recipe got passed down and that the cake stayed for his whole life. It was definitely his favourite thing in the mountain. It also helped with his nerves as well, he had decided as a kid that chocolate was better than any medicine and whenever he had fallen over and hurt his knee like kids do, instead of running straight to medical he had gone to find some cake.
Then Maya was talking about how she would enjoy being a part of medical because she enjoyed helping others. Isaiah couldn't help but smile at that, finding that hearing that made him respect her even more than he already did. He had known that, at least he had known that she was a helpful and caring person but to hear that it was the reason behind why she was studying what she was studying, it made him see her better than he had before. While Maya was definitely pretty, Isaiah knew that a lot of his feelings for her came from who she was. To him, she was a perfect person. She was strong and caring, beautiful inside and out. And when she laughed it was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. He was unable to do anything but smile at her.
When Maya's gaze were on his eyes, he returned it. When she winked, he fought the urge to look down at the table shyly. She was probably just winking about his cake comment but he was looking at her eyes and part of him really didn't want to look away They were just as beautiful as the rest of her. He didn't last long, however, before he did look back down at the cake and take another bite of it. He laughed lightly at Maya's comment, feeling a slight colour move onto his cheeks at the mention of love. "And this does feel like love," he added on to her comment, taking some cake onto his fork and holding the utensil up slightly. As much as he comment had definitely been about cake, it was difficult for him to think just about cake when Maya was there and his own emotions were starting to become harder and harder to ignore.
His gaze lingered on her lips and he had to force himself to look away after a moment, willing himself not to do anything stupid. The way she had bitten her lip was what had gained the attention of his eyes but maybe he should have been focusing more on her eyes again. When she spoke this time, there was clear worry in her voice and Isaiah suddenly felt worried himself. Had he done something wrong? Said something wrong? But she was talking about wanting to show him something and that didn't sound like it was related to anything that he could have done. "You can trust me," Isaiah told her and it was the most confident thing he had said to her since sitting with her at the table. If there was one thing Isaiah really believed he was, it was trustworthy. He gave her a reassuring smile and was thankful for the distraction this new topic gave from his feelings towards her. |

Maya smiled and nodded and stood up slowly. She glanced around making sure that no one was paying attention. But everyone was laughing and having a good time. No one noticed them and they were free to go where they wanted. She knew that path was not being watched right now as everyone was sleeping or at the party. The guards had slipped in to join the party and they were at the far side of the room having a good old time. So they would be free to slip out unnoticed. She hated to admit to herself that it wasn't just that she wanted to show him something. She hoped to get him alone to see what would happen. She was nervous though. He was so cute and she kinda wanted to kiss him. Would he like that. Or would he think that it was being too forward. She took a deep breath as her mind went crazy with all the thoughts that were flowing through her mind. She had never thought of anyone in this manner before. But she thought he was very good looking and she was almost blushing at the thought of maybe kissing him just once. "We should go now, while no one is watching. We can slip away and not get caught."Her voice was a soft whisper that only he could her and the noise level in the room was such that only he would have heard it. She liked having secrets and now she would share them with Isaiah. Somehow she knew she could trust him and she knew that he would not tell another soul about her secrets that she had. But then she wanted to do other things with him as well. But, was that a bad thing? Would he think that she was too forward or even a....slut? She hoped not. Besides, just a kiss wouldn't hurt. Would it? Isaiah Riggs

@mikha A silent post. XD When Maya stood up, Isaiah followed suit, taking one last bite of cake as he did. He put the fork down on the table and wiped his face on the end of his sleeve, turned slightly away from Maya as he did. He then pulled up his sleeves to his elbows and turned completely back to Maya with a smile. Her words caused him to smile brighter and he fought back a laugh. He had no idea what she wanted to show him and how serious it was but at hearing her words of sneaking out, it was hard to take the situation too seriously if he were to be completely honest. He made him think of spies from stories he had been told by his parents as a child. Like they were going to be sneaking around the mountain and spying on someone or something with the intention of not being seen. Like they were the bad guys.
He nodded and started with her towards the door. As they left the mess hall, no one paying the slightest attention to them, Isaiah tried to think of something he could say. They had stayed quiet to leave the room without bringing attention to themselves but now, Isaiah felt the silence growing and he wasn't sure if he was comfortable with it. The silence left his mind able to wander again and with it doing that, he was back to thinking about Maya. He glanced over at her, his eyes pausing on her lips before he forced them up to meet her own eyes. Alone, walking, Isaiah found it more difficult to think of reasons not to do something that he knew he would end up regretting. If he kissed her, he would probably destroy their friendship. As much as he liked her, he respected his friendships too much to mess them up. Maybe that was why he often found himself so uninterested in dating, because it could be such a dangerous thing. |

Once they were far enough away she glanced at Iah and reached for his hand. She was going to lead him to the medical area and show him what they were doing. Luckily she could show him through a pane of glass. Those hazmat suits were annoying and uncomfortable. She could sense the uncomfortable feeling that Iah was having. She glanced around quickly then began to speak to him, letting him know what she was about to show him. But, as they entered the room and closed the door behind them, she wanted to try something first. She was not sure how he would react, she knew that she would always be his friend regardless of whether or not there was romance or not. She would never drop anyone as a friend and she did not see that there would be any awkwardness in it at all, but then that was Maya. She was always outgoing, though she knew that she would be able to blush as well.
"I have something very secret to show you. I am trying to make a decision."
She let her words stand for the moment as she moved close to him, letting her eyes lock with his, somehow praying that he would not take offense to her actions. She stood on tiptoe and leaned in close, as her heart began to beat fast. Closing her eyes she pressed her lips against his, gently and kissed him softly, before pulling back a bit embarrassed at her forwardness. Biting her lip she looked away. She loved the kiss, but that didn't mean that he did. She finally got brave and looked up into his face.
"I....uh....was that okay? I am sorry if it wasn't."

@mikha They're kissing! Such cuties! Isaiah's heart beat sped up when Maya took hold of his hand and he was frozen for a moment before her curled his fingers around her hand. Her skin was soft and Isaiah was sure that this was the first time he had actually touched her hand. It wasn't like he was in the habit of shaking hands with people when he met them, not those his own age at least. Maya spoke and while Isaiah did hear the words, he wasn't able to pay much attention to anything other than the fact that he was holding her hand and that she was now moving closer to him. Her eyes stayed on his and there was something in them that Isaiah wasn't familiar with. He couldn't look away from her. With the way his heart was beating he was almost worried that he would start sweating and that he would have to let go of Maya's hand.
When Maya leaned in and pressed her lips to his, Isaiah's eyes closed. Although it did take him a second to realise that it was actually happening. She was kissing him. Well, it was obvious that she had been having the same thoughts as him. He kissed her back, relief running through his body at knowing that he could do that without risk of her not wanting him to. As much as Isaiah didn't want the kiss to end, he let Maya pull back when she did and just took a moment to look at her. She was looking down, avoiding his gaze and Isaiah worried that maybe she hadn't liked that. Maybe it hadn't been what she had expected. Although she seemed to have the same thought as him. He smiled at her, his face genuinely bright as he spoke. "It was, um," he paused for a moment, "more than okay." With that he leaned down to kiss her again, his hand still holding Maya's while his hand went to rest at the side of Maya's face.

Maya went from shy to blushing as she was swept into another sweet kiss, her arms went around his neck as she leaned into it now. She had never kissed a boy before and she actually loved it. She stepped forward a bit and just let the kiss happen. After a moment she pulled back to catch her breath as she gazed into Iah's warm brown eyes. She nearly melted as his eyes took her breath away. The way he looked at her made her feel beautiful. Something she had never really felt before. She was trying to catch her breath as she spoke.
"That....was....amazing..."
She took a deep breath and unable to stop herself, she kissed him again. She was wondering what she was thinking. Well actually she was thinking, hot guy, sexy kiss about right now. She was blushing even more, though she rarely blushed. Why was he so adorable? She remembered why she had brought him here, but she wanted to wait an see what happened first . She couldn't help the fact that she was attracted to the hottest guy in the Mountain. But then she was sure that he was okay with that at the moment. She cupped his cheek now as she deepened the kiss slightly. Time seemed to suddenly stand still as she stood kissing him. She knew that they had not been followed and would be alone for quite some time. He dad was not expecting her back for three of four hours. That left them plenty of time to....wait, get your mind back where it is supposed to be Maya. First time alone with a hot guy and you are ready to attack him. She slowly pulled back from the kiss. She didn't want him to think that was why she had brought him her. Well it was part of it. But she wanted to show him what was going on behind closed doors.

@mikha THEY'RE SO CUTE <3 Maya's lips were soft and Isaiah found himself getting lost in the feeling of them against his own. One of his hands became free as Maya let go of it and he rested it on her waist. The kiss was everything he had imagined it to be and more. He had never kissed anyone before and for a first kiss, he couldn't imagine it would get any better than this. It was just made even better by the fact that it was Maya he was kissing. The feelings that had been growing towards her made the kiss more than just a physical sensation and he could feel his heart pounding and his stomach twisting over that fact. He never wanted the feeling to end, the kiss to end. It was the most perfect thing he had ever felt. Maya's arms around his neck gave him confidence to deepen the kiss more, hoping his instincts were guiding him correctly in how to kiss.
When she finally pulled away from him, sooner than he would have liked, he looked down at her with his mouth slightly open, lips upturned in a smile and eyes sparkling. She looked beautiful, even more so now that he could look at her without worry of her noticing. He wanted her to notice. The kiss had done everything to take away his nerves and he couldn't believe just how confident he felt in that moment. With Maya. With a beautiful girl in a beautiful dress, all alone and not likely to be disturbed. His body reacted to that and Isaiah, feeling embarrassed about his own thoughts took a small step backwards and looked away from Maya's face. His moment of confidence ended.
He could hear Maya's breathing and the way it was strained, like his own because it seemed neither of them knew how to breathe during the kiss. Taking his focus off his earlier thoughts, he made a joke about breathing instead. "Would be more so if we could breathe." He grinned and was suddenly pulled into another kiss. His hands quickly both went to rest at Maya's waist, staying still there despite the fact that he wanted to move them or use them to pull her closer. He didn't want to push her into anything, he didn't want to seem like that sort of guy. He would allow her to set the pace and if all she wanted to do was kiss then that was all they would do. When her hand cupped his cheek, he followed her in deepening the kiss as he took a small and shuffled step closer to her, leaving them all but pressed together. He was so happy that she had the confidence to bring him out here to kiss him.
