It was over. Really and truly over. Mount Weather had fallen. The Mountain Men defeated. They had won, but at what cost? Casualties had been inflicted on both sides, more so the Mountain Men, but still. Several of their people were badly injured, including Abby herself. Many more were emotionally traumatized by the whole ordeal, but no one was suffering more than Clarke. She had been the one to pull the lever which had ultimately killed everyone inside the Mountain who wasn't from the Ark. All those innocent lives. Men, women, and children. They were all dead. Abby couldn't possibly imagine what her daughter was going through. Even so, she wanted to be there for Clarke as best she could. Her daughter's emotional trauma far outweighed her own physical and emotional trauma. Still, Abby was in so much pain. More so emotional than anything else. Not only had she been nearly blown up back in TonDC thanks to the Mountain Men firing a missile at them, but soon afterwards, they had been attacked and dragged by those same men back to Mount Weather with bags over their heads. To make matters worse, when the bag had been removed from her head, she had come face to face with her worse nightmare. All her people, all those kids bound and trapped. Scared and defenseless as the Mountain Men proceeded to drill into their people, their friends right in front of them. Chancellor Griffin had witnessed it all firsthand as she was led over to the wall and cuffed to the wall. Completely helpless and defenseless to do anything but watch as her people were drilled into and slowly killed. She had watched as Raven was dragged over to the table. Oh how she had fought. The young woman was strong. A fighter. Abby had always loved that about her. It reminded her of herself. They were alike in that way. But seeing her strapped down to that table and drilled into, her screams filling the older woman's ears had broke her heart. Back on the Ark, she had developed a strong fondness towards the young mechanic. That affection had only grown since they had reunited on the ground and Abby had helped her after she had been shot by Murphy. The eldest Griffin had grown to care for Raven deeply, almost like a daughter and it had hurt to see her suffering like that and not being able to do anything about it. She had been utterly powerless to stop it. Abby couldn't help but feel responsible for that, even if it wasn't entirely her fault. The young woman had been through so much already. She didn't need this. Then, the next thing she knew, she had been the one being dragged over to the table after Cage ordered Raven to be removed from the table and for her to be placed on it instead. It had been personal. She had seen it in the man's eyes as he gazed straight into her eyes. She remembered Kane yelling after her as the two men had dragged her away over to the table. Her eyes had met his as she lay sprawled on that table. In that moment, she had briefly thought that this was it. Then, it wasn't. Clarke and Bellamy had saved them all. It saddened her though that all those innocent lives had been lost because of it, but there was nothing she could do about it now. It was over. Time for them to all go back home.
The entire way back to Arkadia, Abby remained strong. Clutching tightly onto Kane's hand as everyone made the trek back home. She lay on a stretcher, her knee too badly injured to walk all the way back. Also, she was so, so tired. Everything that had happened in the last couple days was finally taking it's toll on her. Her knee hurt. Her whole body hurt. She still remembered the feeling of the drill jabbing against her bone over and over again. Remembered the feeling of the needle being inserted into her bone as they extracted her bone marrow. The pain had been agonizing. She had never had to do a procedure like that before, but she knew it hurt. Still, you never really know just how badly something like that hurts until you've experienced it yourself. It hurt like hell. Her eyelids felt heavy, like two heavy weights that were much too heavy for her to hold, but she fought to hold them up anyways. Fought to keep her eyes open. Now wasn't the time to pass out. They had to get back home and as Chancellor and Head Doctor, she had responsibilities. To her people. So many people were injured, so many scared. They needed their Chancellor to reassure them. There was also the matter of the grounders and whether or not they would try and attack them. Those were all problems for later though. First, they had to get home. Glancing up at Kane, she could see the worry in his eyes as he looked down at her, even as he sent her a small smile. Vaguely, she wondered how he was feeling in that moment. He was a strong man, no doubt about it, but she couldn't help but wonder if all of this had taken a toll on him as well. She didn't question him about it, not now anyways. She was much too tired to do much of anything, much less speak. So instead, she kept a tight hold on his hand. Feeling just a little bit of comfort from his presence.
When they finally approached Arkadia, the gates were immediately pulled open and they were all greeted by those who had been left behind. Dark brown eyes soon fell on Jackson as he called out to her. The guards walked over to him and set her on ground. Jackson hovered over her as he quickly looked her over before ordering the guards to take her to medical. Amidst all the happy reunions, Abby didn't even notice as Clarke stayed behind and didn't enter the camp. She did notice Kane, who remained by her side the entire time as she was escorted to medical to be treated. He really did care about her. Her eyelids felt even heavier now and still she fought to stay conscious, not quite ready to let the darkness take over her yet. But, the more she fought, the more tired and weaker she became. She was quickly losing this battle, slowly succumbing to the darkness. Eyelids slipped shut, only to blink furiously as she struggled to stay awake. It was a pointless battle, but her stubborn nature forced her to keep fighting. She vaguely realized that they had arrived in medical, just barely feeling hands underneath her as her body was lifted and transferred to a medical bed. Someone spoke her name, but the voice was very faint. A soft groan fell from her lips and she struggled to see through her falling eyelids as she tried to determine who was speaking to her. It seemed to be Jackson who was speaking to her ... or no, maybe it was Kane. She heard her name once more, but the words following that seemed to be all jumbled together. Dark spots suddenly appeared in her vision and she knew that she was about to pass out. The darkness slowly enveloped her, wrapping around her until the light was no more and her body finally gave out on her as she slipped into an unconscious state.
