He had not been gone for an extended time. Days he thought, but he didn't know for sure. It was hard to keep track when he couldn't see the sun. Kane a gone to talk to the commander and look for the kids. He had hoped to make peace after the kids here had made war. Instead, just moments after he sent the two men with him back to camp, the grounder prisoner turned on him and kicked him in the head. Marcus didn't awaken until he was being forced to walk with a bag over his head. They pulled it off and dumped him into a holding cell--and for the first time in his life he was speachless, because Jaha walked out of the shadows.
The grounders had sent a girl in to make sure one fo the killed the other, and she had told Marcus that she thought him honorable, and his desire for peace was true. She had been less pleased with Jaha and they had beaten, before sending him away. And so, Marcus became a guest of the commander. He respected her power, even if her demands were troubling ones. She wanted peace, and he wanted to help give that.
And so, she sent him back to his own camp to make sure they gave up Finn. What Marcus found, was chaos. Jaha was locked up for treason, Abby had the people ready to fight a war--when none of them had seen a war before. They had fought in the council chamber, but nothing had really been decided. So now he moved to medical, and pulled off his jacket. He had slit his own wrist so Jaha would not have to kill him, and he needed it looked at. He also planned to ask Abby what she planned to do, and try to talk some reason into her.

Becoming Chancellor had been the last thing that Abby ever expected to happen, but it had happened. Kane had made her Chancellor. She still couldn't believe it. The two of them had always had quite the rocky and rather complicated relationship. Their view on things were completely different and they tended to have disagreements on several occasions due to their difference of views and opinions. She had always been under the impression that he didn't particularly like her very much. After all, he had made it quite clear on several occasions that he did not approve of her views and methods. Then again, he had shown a softness towards her after Diana had launched the Exodus ship, causing a power out on the Ark that had nearly killed them all. He had saved her life and had been willing to sacrifice his life so they could all make it down to the ground. That was when Abby realized that beneath all the hardness, there was a good man who genuinely cared for his people. She had developed a growing respect for him in that moment. Despite their conflicts, he had respected her enough to entrust her with the responsibility of Chancellor in his place. She had been a bit hesitant to take on the role and had even been a bit reluctant to let him go and speak to the commander. Everything they had learned about the grounders told them that they were extremely hostile and violent. They were unpredictable and Abby still wasn't sure if they could be trusted, but she let him go. It was worth a try if it meant there was even the slightest chance of finding their children and bringing them back home. Plus, it would be nice to be able to live in peace without war, but in no way was she letting her guard down. So, after accepting her role as Chancellor, she went to work on leading the people and doing everything in her power to ensure all their survival. Of course, it was no easy task. Clarke soon returned and quickly took matters into her own hands, going against the Chancellor's wishes. She was like her mother in that way, which both made her proud, but also frustrated her as well.
After being informed that the grounders did not have their people and they were all actually trapped inside Mount Weather, Abby, Clarke, Raven, and several others had set out on a scouting mission after they came to the realization that the Mountain Men were jamming with their communications. They needed to figure out a way to get inside Mount Weather so they could save their people who were trapped inside, but the mountain had quite the defenses, including control of the deadly acid fog which had nearly killed them. On top of that problem, there was also the looming problem of the grounders who would no doubt retaliate after the massacre on the grounder camp, which Finn had initiated. She had cleared Finn of his crime, but that still didn't change the fact that the grounders would most likely declare war on them. Marcus had yet to return from his journey to meet with the grounder commander and at this point, she had no idea what was going to happen. Had he been able to make progress in making peace with the commander? Or was he dead? The grounders could be rallying their forces against them and Abby had no way of knowing what was happening. It wasn't long though before she had received her answer. Jaha had appeared to them with a message from the commander. 'Leave or die.' And they only had two days to decide before the grounders attacked.
Returning to Camp Jaha, both she and the former Chancellor had engaged in a heated discussion on what to do. Thelonious was strung up on leaving, but Abby disagreed. How could they just up and leave? This was their home too, not just grounders'. It just didn't seem right and she voiced as such. There was absolutely no way she would allow them all to leave without a fight. Not if there was another way to go about this. Plus, Marcus was still imprisoned by the grounders and several of their people were trapped inside Mount Weather. No way could she just leave them all there to die. No, there had to be another way. She would figure something out.
Once she and Jaha had spoken to the people, she soon came to a decision. They had to leave. As much as she hated the thought of leaving, it was the only way. The last thing they needed was a war with the grounders and more innocent lives being lost because of it. This was for the best. Once they found someplace safe, they could regroup and figure out a way to rescue their people. Until then, she had to do what was best for her people, even if she didn't like it. Then suddenly, Clarke had come to her with another way. If they could get rid of the threat of the Reapers once and for all, they could initiate a peace treaty between the Grounders and the Sky People, and they could work together to take down Mount Weather. It was a long shot, but she had to try. Abby knew that she was putting the lives of her people at risk and if she was unable to save Lincoln, they were all dead. Yet, it had been another risk that she had been willing to take. She had ended up arresting and locking Thelonious away for treason before going on with her daughter's plan.
Following the events that had occurred when Abby had managed to turn Lincoln back to his former self, although just barely, they were given a very difficult ultimatum. In order to have a truce, they had to give up Finn. If they refused, the grounders would attack and they would all die. A riot had quickly ensued as several of the citizens shouted to give Finn up to the grounders, but those closest to her, including her daughter refused to do that. This left Chancellor Griffin with yet another difficult decision to make. Put Finn up for trial and kill him herself, or give him over to the grounders to be tortured and inevitably killed. After speaking to Lincoln, he had made it quite clear that there was no other way out of this. If they didn't hand over Finn, everyone in this camp would die.
Standing outside the Ark station, Chancellor Griffin stared out at the grounders. Listening as they shouted the words: "Jus drein, jus daun" over and over again. Blood must have blood. In all honesty, Abby was afraid. She was scared to go to war with these people, but after some assurance from her daughter, the Chancellor made her way to the gates. Facing the grounders head on, she spoke up loudly and rather confidently. "We are not giving him up. We are ready to fight if that's what it comes to." She watched as the grounders retreated to no doubt inform the commander of their decision.
Shortly after, Chancellor Kane had made his return. They had then engaged in an argument back in the council room along with Jaha, but Abby refused to come to a decision just yet. She needed some time to think.
Currently, she was in medical as she tried to focus and clear her head. She was feeling an immense load of pressure on what to do about Finn. Marcus, Thelonious and several of the civilians wanted to see Finn dead, whether it be by their hand or by the grounders; while Clarke, Raven, Bellamy, and several of the delinquents didn't want to see him killed at all. It was an extremely tough decision for her to make. What should she do? Put Finn up for trial themselves, which would most likely lead to him being executed by her hand, or hand him over to the grounders so he could be brutally tortured and eventually killed. The more rational decision it seemed would be to put him on trial themselves and deal out his punishment accordingly, but could she really just up and murder a man who had done what he had done in order to save their people, particularly her daughter? It seemed wrong to do that. At the same time though, handing Finn over to the grounders was a much worse fate. Lincoln had told them that it started with fire. Then his limbs would be cut off. Afterwards, there were the 18 cuts which represented all the lives he had taken. Could she really condemn a young man to such a cruel fate? No, she couldn't. The grounders ways were wrong. Sick. Sadistic. She wouldn't let him die like that. Of course, there was the alternative- going to war with the grounders. Was it really worth sacrificing several innocent lives in order to save one man's life? Yes. Despite the things he had done, he was still one of their own. What to do, what to do. Pressing her fingers to her temples, she rubbed them in small circles as she let out a frustrated groan. No one ever said being Chancellor was easy.
The door to the medical ward suddenly swung open, abruptly interrupting her thoughts. Looking up, her gaze landed on Marcus as he made his way into the room. What was he doing here? Was he here to pressure her into making a decision? She didn't need any more people pressuring her right now. Her eyes darted down to his wrist as he clutched it in his other hand. He was bleeding. Right away, her doctoral instincts took over as she gestured him to come and sit down on one of the beds. "Sit. Let me have a look at that." Leading him over to one of the beds, she waited for him to sit down before turning away and walking off to get some supplies in order to tend to his wound.

i had the same fears
Marcus let her led him to the bed, and then he sat on it, putting his jacket down beside him. There was a white bandage around his arm that Jaha had tired, and Lexa's healer had tended too, but he had over worked it recently and it seemed to have opened slightly. He knew that if it didn't get cleaned then it would become infected, which is why he had come in here. Kane was a bit surprised to see Abby working in here at a time like this. He didn't think she should be working dual jobs, but he wasn't going to fight her right now over power. He just wanted to see his people kept save, and he had faith--something his mother would be proud of--that hey could reach a agreement with Lexa.
He just needed Abigail to see that, and give his plan a chance. There would be no challenging her. She never did react well to that. She had sent Raven down here once in a rebellion--and while the plan had been smart, he didn't want a repeat. The people needed them working together, not at each other while fighting. He watched Abby as she moved away and gathered her things, and watched her intently as she came back. They needed to talk, but he didn't want to be brash and forward with her. He needed to make a point. "I never did ask why you imprisoned Jaha."
He had thought they would be getting along more now. Marcus had always wondered if Jaha had feeling for Griffin, but she had never given any sign that she saw the former chancellor as anything more then a dear friend. Which was why he was trying to figure out why she had him locked up right now, and not working together. A part of him was glad they weren't teaming up on him. He had assumed that would be how it was. He had even, upon a time, envied their closeness.
